New Cover Reveal: Striker #ValespianPact #SpaceOpera #lgbtq+

I'm a little behind with the reveals. I meant for this post to go up on the weekend.... *glances at the date* Obviously, that didn't happen. So for those of you who have been waiting, here is the new cover for Striker (The Valespian Pact, 2)! Say hello to Zeus Vondorian. :)

I am working on getting the files updated with Amazon, Smashwords, Kobo, iBooks, and such. Most of the sites are in the process of reviewing the files, and they are working shortened holiday schedules, so be patient. I didn't pick the best time for this change. LOL!

Thank you for stopping by and reading!

Striker Re-Release! #valespianpact #striker #alphatrine

Another book is going up!

Worked on getting Striker out yesterday. I spent the weekend giving it "one more" look through since it has been re-edited. Over the next 72 hours you will see Striker appear on the different vendor websites. So far, it is on Smashwords, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon. There are more sites to come as the days pass so the Books2Read link will automatically update.

I have had a lot of questions about the re-edits. Besides the grammar issues and the "that word does not mean what you think it means", I fixed inconsistencies and a plot hole. I made sure the terms used matched the re-edits I did for Alpha Trine last year. I also nixed some of the generalizations and expanded the look at characters/species/ideas. I fixed things that had been bothering me for years. There were conversations that did not have tags and I added thoughts and emotions to deepen those moments. All in all, 5k was added to Striker. But there are no new scenes, just strengthening of the story throughout.

Buy Links: Books2Read / Smashwords / Amazon /

Blurb:

The peaceful respite for which Zeus and his intended, Dargon and Alpha, had been hoping is shattered when Zeus is unexpectedly drawn to the Waters of Poseidon and told that the safety they've been promised is a trap. But the Fal'Amoric aren't the only important cargo on the Oethra 7, and countless others are depending on the success of their mission. If Zeus hopes to break the silent siege on Valespia and protect those most precious to him, he will need not just powerful allies but the fortitude to survive overwhelming odds.

**Striker is a 93k sci-fi romance that has mature themes and content as well as a polyamorous relationship. This 2nd edition has been re-edited and 5k words added to add clarity.

The GoodReads M/M Romance Group 2014 Member's Choice Awards. Members of the group can nominate their favorites books in a huge list of categories until November 22nd. The first round of voting begins runs through 11/28 - 12/12, then the 2nd round runs through 12/13 - 12/27 . Results will be revealed in January 2015 and will include 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. If you haven't nominated anyone yet, I encourage you to do so. You have until Saturday, November 22nd. Oh, and you much be a member of the group. :)

As a reader, I love events like this because I browse the list for books or authors that I haven't read, adding to my ever growing to-be-read pile. I can easily spend hours clicking on links and reading blurbs.

This year, I have been fortunate to have been nominated for several categories. It's humbling to see the title of my book or series on the list, that someone thought enough of my work to nominate it. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I can't say it enough. ((hugs))

Deadlines, Galley, and Edits Oh, My!

C.R.A.Z.I.N.E.S.S.

Not kidding. I'm surprised I can find my head with everything that is going on. This will probably read more like a newsletter. So much has been happening!

Earlier this month I submitted The Aurora Conspiracy to Less Than Three Press for their Keeping The Stars Running Anthology. I'm waiting to hear back from them, hoping they like it. I adore this short story but I'm biased.

I also submitted Ruby Red Booty Shorts & A Louisville Slugger. Hopefully I'll have some good news for this series in a few weeks. The second book in the series, Werewolf's Tale & A Druid's Sword, is finished and has been sitting on my hard drive collecting metaphorical dust. It needs some good editing... which I need to get to soon.

I received the galley for Twin Flames. The re-release date is scheduled for October 1st. I've been contacting places to host me for the blog tour. I have three spots left: October 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

London Burden designed the new cover for Twin Flames. I adore this cover. She's also forming the bookmark to match. Yay!

*Points Up* Did you see my new banner. Again, Breathless Design knocked it out of the ball park. She also made me some fantastic bookmarks. I think that I'll have like a series of them done for each re-release of different characters. We'll see what happens but I'm really stoked with what I have right now. No, I'm not going to show you--yet.

Swag, swag, and more swag. Pre-orders is you are going to GRL and wish to buy a paperback ahead of time. Look at the top, I have tab with the order form. :-)

Earlier this week I received Twin Flames swag that I ordered for the blog tour and for GRL. Since this series is Fantasy/Menage/M-preg, that's like a small-of-a-small niche in the M/M romance genre so I didn't go too crazy when I ordered non-paper swag. There will be a limited supply of real ceramic coffee cups for GRL. Closer to the blog tour date, I'll post pictures of the prizes that I have for the re-release. I'm really happy with the quality and will probably order something similar again for Songs of the Earth re-release.

Speaking of which, guess what was in my mailbox this morning??? The first round edits for Songs of the Earth.

Color me tickled... and overwhelmed!!

And talking about GRL and swag. Y'all remember the sketches I did leading up to the release of Striker (The Valespian Pact, 2)? I picked out the best ones and asked Breathless Design  to help me make them into trading cards. I've decided I will continue to do character sketches and for each new Valespian Pact release. The best ones will be added to the trading card portfolio. I'm so excited to see where this project will go!

The lovely Aisha Akeju designed the fantastic covers for Alpha Trine and Striker. She also helped me with a bookmark for Alpha Trine for GRL swag and I will see about having a bookmark made for Striker as well, but that will probably be a couple weeks away.

*waves arms vigorously in the air* it looks like Alpha Trine and Striker are going to audiobook. I'm not flippin' kidding. Dude! Dude! Dude! I just... you have no idea how freakin' stoked I am. *runs around in frantic circles*

Four days are left in the month and I'm pushing to have the first draft of Keeping Faith revised and edited by month end. Revising and editing doesn't always go as fast as anyone wants and the frustration level is high. It looks as if Keeping Faith has a home and so I want to get it there as soon as possible but not until I'm satisfied with the end result.

With Keeping Faith nearing completion, I wanted to put a fresh face to the first book, Playing For Keeps, which Breathless Design did fabulously. Fireborn Publishing has offered to host this little free story on their website. I actually need to write a blurb for this before I send Playing For Keeps over to them.

What's next, you ask?

Well, in the editing sphere, Werewolf's Tale & A Druid's Sword for one and the huge 100+k manuscript for Fate & Destinies.

For writing? I will be finishing the Sumeria's Sons series with Dragon's Eye and Releasing Chaos. I'm so very stoked to write these last two books. With everything that needs to happen to reach that HEA I'm switching it up a bit and you'll have not only Tristan's POV but Ushna and Nikita's as well. I'll also have a couple of free short stories that will fit between the books from side characters. So don't miss out on those either. If you weren't aware, I'm planning two offshoot series, Sumeria's Magi and Sumeria's Children. ^_^

And if there is enough time before the end of the year, start writing Bespoken (The Valespian Pact, 3). The next books of this series will be written close together and somewhere in there I'll have to fit writing the rest of the I.O.N. series as well.

Are you as exhausted as I am??

August has been a busy month, a fantastic month, and an exhausting month. And GOOD, so very, very good. I cannot tell you how thankful I am to be this busy.

Love you guys! Thank you for making the next couple of months as busy as they are.

Thank you for stopping by and reading!!

GRL Book Signing and Pre-orders

If you're going to the 2014 GRL Chicago then you've probably heard of the pre-sales that many authors and publishers are doing. Holy cow. As a reader, I'm thrilled with the pre-sales because book fairs are where I purchase most of my LGBT paperbacks. I LOVE autographed books plus at the book fairs they can be purchased at a discount. What is not to love about that?

After much consideration, I will be doing pre-sales as well, even though by book title list is that ---> <--- big. If you are going to GRL Chicago in October, until September 20th you can pre-order Alpha Trine and Striker from me and then be able to pick them up at the retreat.

I will bring limited stock to GRL to sell at the normal book fair price.

On a separate note, Less Than Three Press is having a END-OF-SUMMER SALE! GET 20% OFF ALL LT3 STOCKLT3 is throwing an end-of-summer sale! Did You Miss Striker's Blog Tour Sketches?

On June 9th we welcomed a new member to the family so I'm taking a road trip to my sister's to spoil her children. *evil cackle*

I'm a slacker. I hadn't planned on what would go up while I'm gone. So while I'm thinking about it, I thought I would make a couple of quick entries. Today--err--now, I will put up the sketches that I did especially for the Striker blog tour. Next Wednesday I'll have an excerpt go up for the WIP I'm currently working on, Keeping Faith. I don't think I've posted one before so it will be something new.

Road Trip! I have scoured the library and my collection of audio books to entertain me on the 14 hour drive. Right now I have too many excellent options but I'll have to choose before I get in the car on Saturday. I have Dragon Slayer by Isabella Carter (I met her this year and she is such a lovely person), Finding the Wolf by Mel Eight, I could continue with the Chicagoland Vampire series by Chloe Neill, or continue the Iron Druid series by Kevin Hearne, start the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost, continue the Mercedes Thompson series by Patricia Briggs, I recently purchased Shades of Gray by Brooke McKinley, or I could have a re"read" of  Full Moon Rising by Keri Arthur. If I'm lucky, Talya Andor's Signal to Noise will be available on audio, then it's no contest what I'll listen to first. SEEEEeeeee! So many various options.

Ten whole days to do other things than work. Well, I'm taking stuff that I can do without a computer. I have The Aurora Conspiracy printed so that I can edit it. After completing a story, I always wait a couple of weeks before going back over it. It's like having fresh eyes. Plus I get to share it with my brother-in-law, Jorge. In the story, I created a character, Danny, who is a robot--actually the correct term for the maker/model is Jorgebot. :-D Jorge helped me draw up certain aspects of Danny, who is an experimental model that runs evolving software. So I get to have a little bit of fun talking to my brother-in-law about his character and actually get to see his reaction. It will be a blast.

I'm also taking my sketch pads, as well as stuff for world building for the next installments of Sumeria's Sons and the Valespian Pact. I'm excited to be able to work on the wrapping up of Sumeria's Sons, Dragon's Eye and Releasing Chaos. But I think right now, more people are interested in the next addition to the Valespian Pact, Bespoken.

As it looks right now, Prometheus's story will span two books, which will not be back to back because there is just too much story to tell and he's not even in a place that has already been introduced in this universe. But not only does Prometheus get a story; Axis and his Chimera (Chosen), Star Eater and Madux (Boundless), and Canry and Nethus (Rebirth) will have stories to tell that will add to the culmination of the overall plot of the Grid, human involvement, and the V'Saar. Right now, I'm tentatively calling the last book in this series, Legends.

Yes, yes, I know. WRITE FASTER!! I love you guys, too. :-D

Now for some fun. If you followed the blog tour then you've seen these but I still want to show them off.

People of the Longing: Princess Shaneva Vondorian

Prince Azeas Vondorian (without color)

Everybody's least favorite sketch because of what the Chtichlians resemble. I wish I could make him prettier but he is what he is.

The Oethra 7 being chased through Valespia's shields.

The revered and feared assassin, the Mar'Sani triplets known simply as Chimera.

Prince Zeus Vondorian (one of my favorite sketches)

Princess Athena of the Fal'Amoric (I plan on redoing this one because it doesn't do her justice.)

The Orion

The Evolution of Striker

June 1st begins the week long blog tour for Striker. I think I chose some fun and interesting topics. I did finish all the sketches, although in a couple of cases, not the sketches I had planned. I moved some things around so that the drawings would coincide with the discussion topic. Some I definitely like more than others. Some I wished I had more time to work on but all in all, the selection pleased me in one way or another.

For those who have not followed my Alpha Trine posts, the idea for the story came from a story prompt. When writing, I came to a certain point in the story and I realized Zeus, Alpha, and Dargon had a much bigger story to tell and I was running out of time to tell it. So I halted the story after our three heroes came together and agreed to a solid relationship. Once I stepped back, I noticed I had written a story that was taboo times three over. A contemporary ménage was taboo enough in certain circles, but this love story was unconventional in many ways because it also included an unusual mpreg, and two of the characters were very alien in completely different ways.

I had this sudden thought that Alpha Trine would have perhaps ten readers, and no one would have any further interest in what would happen next. Later, when the questions started coming in, I was both shocked and humbled. Striker—then called Striker, Lord Of Thunder—was put on the writing schedule. Alpha Trine had taken me three months to write and that included the world building. I thought surely I could write Striker in the same amount of time. *evil laugh* What I didn't account for was life getting in the way. Stress and worry were huge detriments to the writing mojo, and I spent 2013 in a sort of professional limbo which affected my writing.

Midway through last year I rallied when Alpha Trine and Striker found a home. I had self-imposed a deadline for having Striker complete and that quickly came and went. I learned several things about myself then.

1) I cannot simply put words on the page and then sort them out after the first draft is finished. To me, the first draft is the most important stage, with galley edits coming in second. I may go back and insert some asides later on but I don't usually add more than 3k after the first draft is complete.

2) I won't write a scene if I think that it will be removed later on. I will remove elements from a scene to streamline the story but never complete a scene if I suspect an editor is going to suggest to cut it.

3) I don't make up words for the page when the story halts in my head. In some ways, Striker wasn't ready to be completed when I tried to make my self-imposed deadline. There were problems with facts or I didn't believe the motivations or there where things I wanted to add but didn't fit. Some scenes I couldn't write fast enough to keep up with my thoughts, and other times I simply stared at the page waiting for something—anything to further the story along.

The Orion, Rhee, Zeus's friend
The Valespian-verse is huge and I constantly consider what not to place in the story. The Orions are one of my favorite races, and because I loved them so much I had to tone them back considerably to keep them from taking over. Even though I sorrowed over the decision, it was for the best.

In the end, Striker took five months to write and the story finished twice the length of the original version of Alpha Trine. In many ways, I believe Striker raises the bar. It's a little more dark and fretful than Alpha Trine, which had an edge of humor. Although there is humor in Striker, the circumstances they find themselves in gives it a slightly bitter edge that makes you hold your breath as you root for our heroes.

I am more than satisfied with the ending and the HEA. I hope you will be, too.

Over this coming week I will have a rafflecopter giveaway. The giveaway begins June 1st and ends at midnight, June 7th. The prizes are a Kindle Fire and seven signed paperback copies of Striker.

Striker Character Sketch: Prince Azaes

I realized today that the release for Striker is a little over a month away. In fact, five and a half weeks and I had planned six more drawings. That may be a little ambitious for me. We'll see what I can do. I might end up with five sketches or less for the release week.

Because I'm behind, this is the last character reveal on my blog until June 1st. I had planned for the sketch to be both Azaes and Mestor. It wasn't until after I began that realized 1) my drawing tablet was much bigger than my scanner. 2) there was no way I could make a mirror image of Azaes for his twin. It's just not possible for me to draw the same image exactly a second time. 3) I used a cobra-man as inspiration but didn't have something to refer to when it came to Azaes' hands. Which means he doesn't have hands, at least for now.

I wanted to show the red ridge of the royal family, and I like how that turned out. I grew bolder and experimented with more color and I'm not happy with the outcome. It is what it is. I'll return to this when I have time and fix it, or sketch a different picture of Azaes.
