Sumeria's Sons Re-branding #SumeriasSons

For a while now I have been planning and working with Natasha Snow on new covers for my Sumeria's Sons' series. Twin Flames was my first published book and holds a special place in my heart. From this story, I grew into the author I am today. The last book for the series came out a couple of years ago (Yay! I completed the series!),  and I wanted to give the series a face-lift. It's been on my mind since I've been plotting Nathan's story.

The second part of my plan is to pull the series off the market for a short period of time. I'm having the books reformatted and the Sumeria's Sons Interludes included in the back of the appropriate books. (For those of you who already own Sumeria's Sons and Sumeria's Sons Interludes, no new words were added. The books are exactly the same.) Once all the formatting has been completed and the paperback files are ready, Sumeria's Sons will go up on Kindle Unlimited.

I'm making this decision for several reasons, one of them is to enable new-to-the-series readers to discover Tristan and his guys.

But before this all rolls out, I would like to say a few words about the series' existing covers. London Burden created the dynamic covers for the first five books and Kirby Crow did a great job matching the style for book six. I love these covers so hard. They are beautiful and represent each story fantastically. London's artwork is fantastic and I will always be grateful and humbled that I got to have her style on my book covers. <3 <3

This week will be the last week you can buy the books with these covers. The series will start coming down as of Saturday, August 8th. It will also be the last week you can buy Sumeria' Sons through a non-Amazon seller. Entering the series in Kindle Unlimited means the series will be exclusive to Amazon.

And that is the news for the changes planned for Sumeria's Sons. I'm excited that I'll be able to share the new covers soon. I can never hold a surprise for long. LOL!

Tristan, Ushna, and Brian have meticulously prepared for the day they face Inanna and Marduk, but they must rely on their inner circle if they are to win the day. Ushna needs to embrace his destiny and be transformed by Tiamat. But he returns with a mind fractured by a primordial god’s consciousness and needs a firebird’s help, or he’ll be lost. If he is, so too is the balance Brian and Tristan sorely need.

Tristan has vowed to care for his ex-Flame who is doomed to forget more and more with each use of his new ability. Adding to his burden, Tristan must free the warriors stolen by the government and devise a trap for Inanna.

Brian fears nothing more than losing Ushna and Tristan again. To prevent that fate, he recklessly devises a preemptive strike, but his actions might not only cost him his life, but Stan’s as well.

As for the inner circle…

With them, Tristan might be victorious. Without them, Tristan will fail and the Lycans will fall to Inanna, who is determined to release a long-forgotten chaos monster and bring about the end of the world.

Sumeria's Sons: All Most There #series #PNR #werewolves #fatedmates #dragons

I'm really close to having all of Sumeria's Sons back out in the world. I want to make some cheeky comment about it being like the college grad that comes home to live while finding their place in the world. Really not the right analogy, but like I said, I'm feeling cheeky this morning. :-D

Everything is out except Releasing Chaos. I'm reviewing the editor's edits and I'm hoping to have it done by mid next week. There is craziness around these parts! Just kidding, I'm a bit burned out with all the editing of Dreams of the Forgotten, Starting Fires, A New Beginning, Surrounded by Crimson, A Child's Wish, Dragon's Eye, and Constant (the upcoming new release for the Valespian Pact series). So much editing and this last week my brain has been trying to take an hiatus but I keep pushing because Releasing Chaos is the last of Sumeria's Sons that I need to get done and then I can switch focus, If only temporarily since I'm expecting Constant back in a couple of weeks.

In the meantime, here are all the links!

Titles: Twin Flames

A Lycan descendant of Gilgamesh and Enkidu, Tristan is not as extraordinary as his ancestors. He is an average warrior, unremarkable throughout. A New Beginning contains some explicit content. While Books 1 and 2 in the Sumeria's Son series (Twin Flames and Songs of the Earth) contain world building elements, those are not fully explored in this short story, it is largely standalone short story and can be read out of order with the rest of the series, though it is more satisfying if read as part of the series.

Oops! Missing Blog Post

What happens sometimes with blog tours is that the host sometimes doesn't receive all of the blog post. When that's discovered, its after the fact. The article about the Goddess Inanna is one of those that was missed for the Dragon's Eye blog tour. So, I'm posting for your reading pleasure today. ^_^

The Jealousy of Inanna

There are a few things that I like about Inanna. You're going to give me the crazy-eye because honestly it's her temples of Sacred Prostitution. How the modern world looks at prostitution is fraught with religious implications. Lots of shaming and condemning goes on when the fact of the matter is prostitution has been around for as long as humanity has. So it was interesting to learn about Sacred Prostitution and how people in a different era viewed sex.

If you've already read the post on the Me Mythology, the conditions of civilization were assigned to gods to oversee. In the list of the Mes of civilization there were three that caught my eye. The concepts of Kurgarra (a eunuch, or, possibly, ancient equivalent to modern concepts of androgyny or transsexual), Girbadara (a eunuch), and Sagursag (a eunuch, entertainers related to the cult of Inanna). In her temples, persons of asexual or hermaphroditic bodies and feminine men were chiefly involved in the worship and ritualistic practices of Inanna's temples. This told me that different sexual orientation and identification had a place in this society. I assumed that occupation was one of respect among the people of the cities (because, hey, there's a temple to it and all), and they did have a patron god. Not something that is found often in other religions.

Anyway, back to Inanna Goddess of Love and Fertility. Another thing to note, love back then meant "the giving of sexual love" and not the "the tender emotions for another". She was the patron goddess of Uruk and her symbols were twisted reeds on a doorpost, the eight-pointed star or rosette.

Inanna wasn't originally a goddess of the Sumerian pantheon but she came from or was adopted from a different region thought to be Hurrian as the mother goddess Hannahannah. There's some debate over that. In later periods, she was sometimes called the daughter of Enki and in the Babylonian text she called Ereshkigal sister. The king of the gods, Enlil was always soft on her and seemed hesitant to take her to task when she wronged others. (All personal impressions as I read through everything I could find related to her.)

The high priestesses were also housed in her temples. To celebrate the new year at the spring Equinox, the priestess took to bed a young man who represented Inanna's consort, the shepherd Dumuzid. In late Sumerian history, kings established their legitimacy by taking the place of Dumuzid for one night during the new year festival. Of course, Gilgamesh was famous for his rejection of this custom, citing Inanna's infamous ill-treatment of such kings as Lugalbanda (Gilgamesh's father) and Damuzid.

Inanna was cunning, ambitious, temperamental, jealous, manipulative, impetuous, and tricksy. She got Enki drunk enough he didn't remember her asking for the Me, nor did he recall giving them to her. She pissed off Erishkigal, the Queen of the Underworld, by getting her consort, Gugalanna, killed. She later sacrificed Dumuzid in order to escape the underworld. She even turned a couple of consorts into wild animals. Although there were things that I liked about Inanna's temples, she wasn't a very nice goddess in certain spheres of influence. Often, she let jealousy and anger dictate her actions, making her a great villain. She never saw herself as one, but neither did she care.

Now imagine her as the patron goddess to the True Bloods. Would she view her charges as anything more than tools to accomplish her goals. She's always been a bit power hungry. Why would that change over the centuries? What would she do, who would she sacrifice to get what she wanted? If you haven't already, reads Sumeria's Sons and find out!

Release Day! Dragon's Eye (Sumeria's Sons, 5)

Dragon's Eye is out!
Whoot!

A huge thank you to all the people who have patiently waiting for these last two books of the series. Regrouping after Silver Publishing's downfall seemed to take forever, but I think that in a couple of ways, the time was a blessing. I believe the last two books of the series is much better than if I had written them back then. My craft got better as I learned (I'm still learning.) And it gave me the courage to reach out to the girls at LT3 Press. Working with them has been wonderful and I look forward to the years to come.

I'd also like to thank the readers who started this series way back when and have been waiting for the next one. Thank you for your patience. I hope Dragon's Eye knocks your socks off!

Today is the last day of the blog tour and these last three topics are probably the most pertinent to Dragon's Eye and the overall sweeping plot for Sumeria's Sons. If you haven't read any of the other topics in the tour, I recommend you at least read these last three.

The sale on the series ends today! So don't miss out because in a twisted turn of events, LT3 is celebrating the Spectrum. LT3 is throwing a 5 week celebration with additional sales that highlight their LGBTQA romance. For today only through the publisher's website, Sumeria's Sons is an addition percent off. (Click Here.) At Amazon and All Romance, this is the last day for the regular sale price. In case you missed the links, I won't make you hunt for them. Here they are again. ^_^

Assassins, Marduk vs Ashur, and the Mountain Goddess: The Agenda For Today

Tomorrow Dragon's Eye releases or if you pre-ordered your copy from the publisher, Less Than Three Press, then you get the early download tonight. Whoot!

Today, I have something a little different. I have a blog post about Ki, the Goddess of the Mountain along with the links to the other blog stops today. Enjoy!

Ki, Goddess of the Earth

When I was researching the pantheon for Sumeria's Sons, the first goddess of the earth that came up was Ninhursag. Although I needed her, the name was strange and I guessed at how to pronounce it. Not only that, when I was reading, instead of stopping and going through the pronunciation, my mind skipped the word. That's not a reaction an author wishes for a reader to have so I searched. With each new era, the gods and goddesses were given new names and I hoped that one of those would be easier. I passed over Uriash Damkina, Ninmah, Damgalnunna, Nintu, Mamma, Mami, Aruru, Damkina, and Belet-Ili. I went with Ki from the Babylonian creation myth, Enuma Elish.

She was an earth goddess, fertility goddess, and also linked to creation. Ki was tutelary to several Sumerian kings who were, "nourished by Ki's (Ninhursag's) milk." The depictions of her were pretty detailed with her wearing a ram's horn crown and a tiered skirt. Often she carried weapons, a bow case slung across her shoulders and a mace tied to her waist. Sometimes she was accompanied by a lion cub on a leash, but lions were often in the depictions of the Sumerian gods and goddesses.

As one of seven great deities of Sumer, Ki had several titles: "Lady of That Which is Below", "Lady of the Sacred Mountain", "Big Lady of the Waters", "True and Great Lady of Heaven" (possibly in relation to her standing on the mountain), "Great Queen", "Lady of Birth", "Faithful Wife" (which is actually funny and I'll explain why in a moment), "Great Wife of Heaven", "Womb Goddess", "Midwife of the Gods", "Mother of all Children", and "Mother of the Gods".

The title of "Faithful Wife" made me guffaw because Ki was the primary consort of her brother Anu (An), the Sky God, but she also bore children with Enki. It's kind of funny how Ki seemed to be upset with Enki for his promiscuity, setting in motion the action that would eventually cause Enki to become pregnant with his own seed. In Songs of the Earth, the Goddess Uttu told Tristan her origin. Enki and Ki had a daughter called Ninsar. Enki seduced Ninsar and they had Ninkurra. He seduced Ninkurra and had Uttu. Uttu found out that Enki was basically a man-slut (more so than the other gods) and went to Ki for help. Following Ki's advice, Uttu took Enki's seed from her body and planted them along the river. That seed grew into eight different types of fruit and when Enki came along and noticed the yummy delights, he ate from the trees becoming pregnant and swelling at all his joints because his body didn't have a womb. The God Enlil entreated Ki to help Enki, which she eventually did by taking the seed into her body to later give birth to eight gods and goddesses.

In Sumeria's Sons, Ki definitely had her own agenda and didn't feel the need to consult her charge before she made a decision and acted. She manipulated Tristan to get what she wanted which drove a wedge between her and Tristan, causing her to lose her tutelary responsibilities. Tristan had this preconceived idea of gods and goddesses. He was afraid of Ki but he didn't back down when he took a stance. How she handled Tristan destroyed his automatic trust in the Sumerian Gods, causing him to be wary and to question everything about them and their intentions. It created a distance between them, making him strive to be strong enough to stand on his own against them.

But he cannot win without their assistance and somehow must learn to trust them enough to accept a helping hand—because he will need it whether he likes it or not.

A huge thank you for following the blog tour! I hope you enjoy the behind the scenes look at the gods and mythos, and how they play a part in Sumeria's Sons. For a visual representation, please visit my Pinterest page. (https://www.pinterest.com/lexiander1/sumeria-sons-inspirations/)
