What's on the Reading Radar #WishList #TBR

I set this post up in advance since I took this past week off to do things. We are moving across several states and I will be looking at houses. I have a couple of long drives ahead of me but I'm taking all the precautions. I have a couple of washable masks and I ordered several more. They are in high demand (some delivery times were 3 weeks out!), so I don't know if I'll have them before I hit the road. When this post goes up, I'll be back home as of last night, so the worry will be a mute point. :)

Title: Convincing the Alpha
Series: Hobson Hills Omegas, 8
Author: CW Gray
Length:

Genre: Romance / Contemporary / Alpha Omega World / Angst-free / Lots of Cutsie Animals / Two Alphas / Gay /

Notes: I caught up on this series before I left town. If you need something sweet and angst-free with lots of cute kids and lots of animals, give this series a go.

Blurb: Story takes place in the Omegaverse. Hobson Hills Omegas: Book Eight

Injured in the army over three years ago, Noah Wilson walked away with his life, but lost his hearing. It's taken him years and the support of his family and friends to adapt to a new normal. While he's content with his life, his family keeps hoping he'll settle down with a nice omega or maybe just, you know, leave his ranch occasionally. Personally, he just wants to park his introverted butt at home and spend time with his horses.

After seeing so many of his friends and family fall in love and settle down, Noah starts to think maybe having someone might be worth the trouble of dating. Maybe.

As a former Marine, Zed Ames is an alpha that needs to take care of his loved ones. He practically raised his younger brother and dotes on his nieces. He even has a newly discovered half brother to get to know. What he doesn’t have is someone of his own to care for and adore. As his brothers keep telling him, he’s a big, old nuturer and needs a sweet omega to take care of. Whether he likes it or not.

The longer he's in Hobson Hills, the more he thinks maybe they're right. At least partly. When Zed meets Noah, he realizes that he doesn't need an omega, alpha, beta, or anyone else. What he needs is Noah, the man that fits perfectly with him. Now, Zed just needs to convince the other alpha that despite their pasts, self-doubts, and meddlesome families, they belong together.

Author's Note: Around 46,000 words. This is a m/m friends to lovers romance with no angst and no cheating, just a HEA. While the story takes place in the omegaverse, both main characters are alphas. There is still plenty of mpreg included in the story through the secondary characters. 18+ readers only, please. It is the eighth book in the series and should be read after book 7, The Alpha's Christmas Wish.

Title: The Rebel's Mate
Series: Blue Solace, 7
Author: CW Gray
Length: 5 hr 42 min

Genre: Romance / Sci-Fi / mpreg / Angst-free / Gay / Audiobook

Notes: I have read the series, and I have it on audio, which I've listened to several times.

Blurb: Welcome back to Charybdis Station and the crew of the Blue Solace: (Seventh Book in the series)

Finn Sterling is still adjusting to becoming the lieutenant of the blue fleet of Charybdis Station. As an orphan on Cardinal Hold, he never imagined he would have a position of authority as an adult and the trust his friends put in him makes failure impossible. When he is given the monumental task to find a large number of missing Vextonians, he'll take all the help he can get. When Finn's journey brings him to his mate, he discovers that finding the missing is only one part of the quest ahead of him.

Aiden Crow has spent the last year consumed with grief and his search for vengeance. When he meets Finn, he knows instantly that the man is his mate, but what could he possibly offer the beautiful, smiling Cardinal? As the search for the missing draw the two men together, Crow realizes that the greatest risk he faces is losing his heart.

Crow and Finn must work together to gather information so they can find the innocent before they are lost forever.

Author's Note: 55,000 words. This is a sci-fi/fantasy, m/m love story with no angst and no cheating, just a HEA. There is lots of action, a little sex, mpreg, and a few potty mouths involved in the story. 18+ readers only, please. It is also the seventh book in a series that is best read in order. Read "The Mercenary's Mate," "The General's Mate," "The Soldier's Mate," "The Lieutenant's Mate," "The Engineer's Mate," and "The Captain's Mate" first!

Title: How to Elude a Vampire
Series: (VRC: Vampire Related Crimes Book 2)
Author: Alice Winters
Length: 336 pages

Genre: Romance / Paranormal / Gay / Humor /

Notes: I read the first book in this series, How to Vex a Vampire, and really enjoyed it. It has humor but a serious plot as well as a MC who wears prosthesis. This is an alternate world were vampires are out and there is some magic.

Blurb: Finn

When the vampire stalking me sent me a letter, I was prepared for my new life with the man I love to get thrown into chaos. But as the days stretch on and nothing happens, I become determined not to allow that monster to rule my life, and decide that Marcus and I will move on. We can’t always allow the past to haunt us. If that includes pestering Marcus and harassing my fellow detectives, they’d better learn to love it, because I’m not going anywhere even if they like to remind me I’m the only human working in a department filled with vampires. But Marcus loves me for who I am, even if he’s not crazy about the cute pet names I call him like McBitey. Being with him is more than I could have dreamed, and even with the trials thrown in our way, he never fails to make me smile.

Marcus
When Finn joined the VRC, I never expected how everything would change. Now that he’s the brightest part of my days, I’m unsure of how I existed without him. Before Finn and I can settle into our new life together, we’re called in as lead detectives when a body is found in the river, and the case soon hits closer to home than we anticipated. I want to be by Finn’s side to keep him safe, but at the same time, Finn’s fighting for the freedom he’s always wanted after being forced to live a life of fear. What I do know is that my future is with Finn, no matter what happens.

How to Elude a Vampire is the second in the VRC series and contains a display of manly prowess that doesn't go as desired, reluctant bonding with a new pet, interfering with a snarky Russian's love life, misuse of office supplies, a vampire with a killer fashion sense but very little game, a total lack of ancient kung fu powers, a feisty human who almost always gets his way and the possessive vampire who adores him.

Title: All Souls Near & Nigh
Series: Soulbound, 2
Author: Hailey Turner
Length: 364

Genre: Urban Fantasy / Romantic Elements / Gay /

Notes: I have this on audio and will be listening to it on my drive. :)

Blurb: You can’t bargain with death if you’ve already sold your soul.

Special Agent Patrick Collins has been reassigned by the Supernatural Operations Agency to New York City. Navigating his new relationship with Jonothon de Vere, the werewolf he’s now soulbound to, is nothing compared to dealing with territorial disputes between the vampires and werecreatures who call the five boroughs home. But the delicate treaties that have kept the preternatural world in check are fraying at the edges, and the fallout is spilling into the mundane world.

Manhattan’s club scene is overrun with the vampire drug known as shine and the subways have become a dumping ground for bodies. When the dead are revealed as missing werecreatures, Patrick and Jono find themselves entangled in pack politics twisted by vampire machinations.

Learning to trust each other comes with problems for both of them, and the gods with a stake in Patrick’s soul debt aren’t finished with him yet. Bound by promises they can’t break, Patrick and Jono must find a way to survive a threat that takes no prisoners and is stalking them relentlessly through the city streets.

Old and new betrayals are coming home to roost but the truth—buried in blood—is more poisonous than the lies being spun. Trying to outrun death is a nightmare—one Patrick may never wake up from.

All Souls Near & Nigh is a 104k word m/m urban fantasy with a gay romantic subplot and a HFN ending. It is a direct sequel to A Ferry of Bones & Gold, and reading the first book in the series would be helpful in enjoying this one. Please see the disclaimer at the beginning of the book for content some readers may find triggering.

Title: Flying Hard: Breath of Air Collection
Series: Santa Cruz Shifters Book, 1
Author: Marie Booth
Length: 214 pages

Genre: Romance / Paranormal / Shifters / Raven Shifters / Gay /

Notes:

Blurb: Ty wants to fly, but that possibility was shattered years ago.

Ty: I'm a hybrid shifter, a freak who doesn’t fit. My wing is damaged, so the ravens don't accept me. Pumas don't want me 'cause I shift to raven. I spend my nights drinking my memories away or screwing them into oblivion.

But the most glorious male wolf I've ever seen needs my help.

Dex is half-starved and rough around the edges, but I’m going to make sure Half Moon Territory gives this wolf a home. He’s been protecting us for weeks, from what I’m not sure.

He says he doesn't want me but I know it’s a lie. Yeah, I'm a flirt, the kind of shifter no one in their right mind would want for a mate, but I'll make this alpha wolf beg for me. I’m already begging for him.

Dex wants a home, a peaceful life and maybe a dozen donuts.

Dex: My pack kicked me out, my mate died in the Shifter Wars, and I've survived three years living rough. But I’ve discovered a new territory in the Santa Cruz Mountains and it may turn out to be the kind of home I've searched for.

Only this crazy raven shifter keeps throwing himself at me. Yeah, he's hot as hades and he makes me smile, even laugh, but I may never be ready to settle down again. Especially not with a shifter who takes anyone with a beating heart to his bed. No. If Ty wants to be with me, he's going to have to follow my very specific rules. Alpha rules.

On top of everything, dangerous members of my old wolf pack have been sniffing around my new territory. Looks like I’m going to have to organize the defense of Half Moon and protect its citizens, especially Ty, who’s teasing his way into my heart with every smile.

Flying Hard is a M/M Paranormal Romance in the Breath of Air Collection and Book 1 in the LGBTQ+ Santa Cruz Shifter Series. Marie Booth is a bestselling author of hot contemporary romance and spicy paranormal/urban fantasy.

Title: Magpie
Series: Forbidden Desires, 3
Author: Piper Scott, Virginia Kelly
Length: 253 pages

Genre: Romance / Paranormal / Dragons / mpreg / Gay /

Notes: I have this on audio and will be listening to it on my drive

Blurb: Reynard Drake, solitary cybersecurity expert and curator of the Drake family fortune, would rather be chucked in the midden than forced to bed an omega, but as the selected Amethyst candidate for the mating experiment, he has no other choice. Resigned to his unhappy fate, he takes solace in the fact that one thing will never change—his virtual rival, Magpie, will always be there to keep him on his toes, even if he has been strangely absent from the internet lately…

Diamond Disgrace Misha Vasiliev has a secret. By day he learns what it takes to warm a dragon’s bed, but at night he’s Magpie, renowned hacker and dark web service provider who steals from dragons in his spare time. His favorite target? Reynard Drake, whom he's only ever seen in pictures, but whom Misha wants more than anyone else.

And now, with a faceless threat closing in on his cloister, quite possibly the only one capable of saving his life.

Magpie is a 64,000 word steamy omegaverse mpreg-ish romance set during the events of the Forbidden Desires series. It contains pretty things hidden where the sun don’t shine; a scandalous screenshot or two; plenty of laughs; its fair share of tense moments; and, of course, “Beagle!” For maximum enjoyment, Magpie is best read as a companion piece to the Forbidden Desires series.

*~*~*

Alonzo

Alonzo didn’t want to answer Zane’s question. Instead he sniffed the air, looking for a scent that didn’t belong. Zane instinctually knew where the danger was turning, keeping his gun pointed in the direction he sensed the danger. If they were being hunted, why hadn’t the person made the kill already? There had been ample time and opportunity. He was at a loss for what to do to help Zane. Alonzo didn’t hear what stalked them. Did he need to be bigger to protect Zane? The only thing his nose picked up was a harsh type of magic that carried on the wind despite which direction it came from.

“Alonzo,” Zane said in a flat voice and he could not tell if Zane was pleading or giving a warning.

“Yes,” Alonzo replied reluctantly. “There are a very few beings who can make themselves invisible to the naked eye. Their ability is something like a chameleon’s, taking on the colors and patterns of their surroundings but if someone has a good nose, they can scent them if not see them. But true invisibility is only achieved with a certain type of magic or magical object. I smell magic that does not belong to this place, bitter and cold.”

Zane only gave a grunt that he heard, turning slowly with his gun still raised and ready to fire. Alonzo followed his motion, trying to see a blur or ripple that would be produced if the invisibility device was a type of cloak, but there was nothing except… He focused on the gravel. It did not crunch like it did under his and Zane’s boots, but it wouldn’t if this person who tracked Zane was an excellent hunter. Very carefully, he switched the safety on his gun but it still gave an audible click. If he was lucky, the stalker would think he took the safety off and—There!

Alonzo sprang when about four feet away he saw a rock slide over another, the sound covered by the noise Zane was making as he instinctually followed the being who was circling them. At the same time, he dropped his gun, needing both hands free as he leaped. He partially collided with someone who was more to his left and his arm hit something sold. Alonzo scrambled to clutch anything to hold onto and his fingers latched onto what felt like feathers. Zane spat curses like a true mage getting ready to hex someone.

Before he could get both arms securely around the person, a very human-like grown sounded and the person tore free from Alonzo’s hold leaving behind a fist full of torn linen and dark feathers. Something smacked Alonzo in the temple and pain exploded. The ground tilted, and no matter what Alonzo did, he fell to the ground. Disoriented and dizzy, he still scrambled back to his feet.  Zane’s roar was loud enough to scare birds from their roosts, and they took flight, scattering. The harsh sound of gunfire deafened Alonzo to all other noises and he tried to turn to see what Zane was shooting at, only he fell on his ass again. Zane was shooting at something only he sensed over the lake.

What could not only be invisible but fly? Alonzo would typically mark ‘god’ off the list but, the triple goddess Anatha had been at the house and Tezcatlipoca was very much present, so he could not rule out another divine being was attracted to this situation they were in with the Grendal hunter. They needed to leave the area before someone called the police about firearms discharge within the city limits.

“Zane!” he called, barely hearing himself. Zane’s face was pulled into a snarl so menacing that if Alonzo didn’t know Zane wasn’t a shifter, he would assume Zane’s beast was getting ready to break free from his control. “Zane!” he called louder.

Movement in Alonzo’s periphery startled him, and he scrambled across the freezing rocks to where his gun lay. Zane spun but did not fire his weapon again. When Alonzo looked Prince stood at the tree line brandishing a broadsword that was almost as long as he was tall. Behind him Raine stepped from the shadows, his skin a gray-green and deadly claws tipping his fingers. There was more movement and Alonzo assumed that rest of his tribe was coming. Relief stole his strength and he sat on his ass working to catch his breath. He slipped the gun back into his shoulder holster under his coat.

Raine squatted next to him and gently took his face and angled it to get a better look at his temple. Only then did Alonzo realize that he was bleeding and he swore. Before he could touch where he’d been hit on the temple, Raine grasped his wrist and shook his head, motioning for Alonzo to get up. The ringing of Alonzo’s ears was lessening with every breathe, but he still couldn’t hear worth a damn. They needed to leave and get Zane to safety, but the police would see the tracks leading from the house. Zane helped Alonzo to his feet, holding Alonzo’s forgotten hat. He didn’t remember losing it.

With Raine and Zane on either side of him, they hurried back to the cabin. The whoop of police sirens was audible even to his damaged hearing. When he glanced back at the tracks they were leaving, Prince was bringing up the rear, his mouth moving. Alonzo could not hear the chant but he saw the effects as the snow swirled behind Prince. Their tracks were being wiped away and unfortunately so were signs of the hunter and the stalker. They didn’t lose everything, he thought. Still clutched in his fist were the feathers and cloth he had torn from the invisible stalker.

What's on the Reading Radar? #TBR #MaysNewReleases

Last week, I decided that I would post the new releases in May that I'm excited about. There are a lot this month so you might want to start with last Saturday's post. I broke things up so the blog post wasn't miles long. :)

Title: Eating Stars
Series:
Author: Angel Martinez
Length: 121 pages

Genre: Romance / Sci-Fi / Alien / Gay /

Notes: releases May 26th

Blurb: Flee. Scatter. Take your mates and your offspring and run.

A new Science Fiction Romance from Angel Martinez

The escape pods fall to Earth one by one over the course of weeks, a mysterious and diverse alien diaspora, each pod containing a different alien race and leaving the world's governments scrambling to deal with this unexpected immigration. Serge Kosygin, still grieving and isolated after his husband's death, watches events with gray disinterest until one day he witnesses a pod crash for himself while driving home. Two of the alien visitors have died, but one survives, badly injured, and Serge is determined that if this alien is also going to die, it won't be under the harsh lights of a government facility.

Devastated by the loss of his life mates in their desperate effort to reach safety, the knowledge that Een is the last Aalana in this sector of the galaxy only compounds his sorrow. He wakes in an alien dwelling under the care of one of the native dominant builder species, a being who appears to share nothing with Een besides a bipedal structure. Slowly, with the help of his patient and kind host, he discovers they are more similar than he imagined as they share harmonies and his host assists him with language acquisition.

Their tentative first contact soon evolves into a deepening friendship, a balm for two grief-weary souls. They'll need each other and their growing bond for the troubles lurking just ahead.

Publisher's Note
Eating Stars was previously published as part of Meteor Strike: Serge & Een as a novelette. It has undergone extensive rewrites and edits with over 10,000 words of new content added.

Title: Earth Fathers are Weird
Series:
Author: Lyn Gala
Length: 6 hours 53 min

Genre: Romance / Sci-Fi / Alien / Alien babies / Mpreg / Gay /

Notes: the audiobook came out this month and I have already listened to it a dozen of times. Really not kidding on that number...

Blurb: Captain Maxwell Davis and his entire unit scrambled to engage alien ships over Iowa. The aliens snatched him out of his destroyed jet before they continued on their interplanetary hot pursuit. Then they informed Max that Earth was too far outside regular shipping lanes to return him to his planet.

So Max ends up in an alien spaceport looking for work. To afford a ticket home he can either spend 300 years working with linguists to improve the computer's questionable ability to translate English or he can take a job as a nanny for an unpopular alien. That way he can afford the ticket in four years. The problem is that the computer may have mistranslated the word "nanny" and there might be a reason an alien is willing to pay such a high fee.

Title: Not Quite Hunter
Series: Not Quite, 3
Author: Kaye Draper
Length:

Genre: Romance / Poly / Alternate History / Fantasy / Intersex MC / Bisexual /

Notes: releases May 26th

Blurb: What’s more fun than dragging a politician, an ogre, a leprechaun, and a hired killer across the wastelands to retrieve a human passenger? Anything. Anything would be more enjoyable than this—even hunting hungry fiends.

Sam is questioning their life choices. Maybe it would just be easier to murder the idiots and leave the bodies in the wastelands.

But, growl as Sam might, everyone knows the hunter will do the right thing. And helping the idealistic human sovereign move his family member and closest advisor from Golding to Westhold is the right thing to do.

Too bad the raiders, hyena beasts, and giant death worms don’t seem to think so….

Tension grows, emotions run high, and heads roll…uh, literally…as Sam takes one more step away from their solitary life and toward actually caring about people—or terrifying monsters, whatever.

Title: Ge-Mi: Part Two
Series:
Author: Mell Eight
Length: 99 pages

Genre: Romantic Elements / Fantasy / Alternate History / Gay /

Notes:

Blurb: Taylor Reyes was born to privilege, but despite that has always been considered an abomination. As a red wolf Ge-Mi, humans look at his furry ears before his accomplishments, and no matter how hard he continues to work Taylor knows that will never change. Still, he has a grandfather that loves him and a pack of his own to lead. The life he created for himself is not a bad one, until one day a pair of adorable cat ears derails everything.

The thought of finding a mate had never crossed Taylor’s mind, but suddenly he can’t stop thinking about Nevada. There’s no time for the distraction, though, as people are moving to unseat his grandfather from the city’s throne. The fight has just begun, but ending it might mean Taylor will lose Nevada forever.

Assassin's Retirement, Chapter 40 Part 2 #TheGentleman #IONSeries #polyromance #blogstory

The air smelled heavily of pine and carried a crispness that said it was too cold to snow even though the clouds were heavy with it. Alonzo slammed his door and met Zane by the front stoop. No tire tracks in the drive or prints leading to the door. He walked around the side of the house toward the rear. The snow was not as thick under the protection of the conifers and made it harder for Zane to see if someone had been snooping. He still checked the windows that he came to, making sure they hadn’t been tampered with.

He was an assassin, not a traditional hunter and he wouldn’t recognize signs of animal activity unless it was quite obvious. Alonzo on the other hand pointed here and there, identifying the tracks and which way the animal was going.

When they rounded the side to the back, Zane stopped. Here it was very clear that someone had been on the property. Booted footprints marred the layers of pristine snow. Zane couldn’t tell if it was just one person making several trips or a couple of people.

“El Chupacabra tracks,” Alonzo pointed to the four-toed prints.

Zane checked the back door and found it open. He reached behind him and under his coat to the holster at his back and pulled the 9mm, switching off the safety. “I don’t suppose that I can convince you to wait here?” Zane said, looking hopefully at Alonzo.

Alonzo drew his own weapon, casting Zane a patient glance. “I’m going to pretend you didn’t ask that.”

They were going to have to talk about Alonzo going into dangerous situations. Zane hated that Alonzo had already been hurt protecting him, but this was not the time to have that discussion. “Then stay behind me. I don’t usually clear buildings. I have before, but I’m out of practice.”

He shouldn’t have worried, there was no one laying in wait. He had only visited the once and his attention was on Cord and the guys, not décor so he didn’t know if anything had been moved. For all he knew, the grendal assassin broke in to plant camera’s or possibly steal Cord’s underwear since the shooter was most likely insane and that was what some crazy people did. After coming up empty handed, he and Alonzo retreated from the house to follow the footprints and was unsurprised when the prints ended at the shore of the lake.

The wind off the water stung his cheeks and he paced across the gravel shore to the edge of frozen water. The first time he had followed the gunman to this location, he thought he’d missed something in the dark. Now he knew of Others and looking over the center of the dark lake he had several ideas.

Alonzo stopped beside Zane and holstered his weapon. Zane did the same. The last thing they needed was for someone to see them with weapons and assume the worst. “Are there mermaid—I guess mermen Others?” he asked Alonzo. He had this sudden idea that the Loch Ness Monster might actually be an Other pranking the humans.

“There are many different types of Others who could use the lake to hide,” Alonzo replied grimly. “If Ella was telling the truth, and she corrupted a human by binding a mantle to him, how is he able to use the water to hide?”

Zane paced, turning over the possibilities. Some of them he set aside, too fantastic to have any substance. If he was a psychopath hunting a grendal, how would he use the lake? What came to mind was not a scenario that he liked. Not at all. But the more he thought about it the more he felt he was on the right path.

The hair raised on the back of Zane’s neck and he spun around, automatically drawing his gun. The sense of being watched, that he should be able to reach out and touch the person weighed heavily on him.

“Zane?” Alonzo asked warily. He had followed Zane’s lead and pulled his own weapon, but it was pointed at the ground.

“Don’t you feel it?” Jesus Christ was he losing his mind?

“Explain it to me.” Alonzo coaxed. He didn’t sound incredulous or judgmental. The question focused Zane.

“I… The moment we left the house it felt like we were being watched. I thought it was the shifters, but it didn’t let up once we hit the highway.” Zane kept his breath steady, but just barely. “Right now, I could swear... Fuck me sideways. Please tell me there aren’t beings out there that are invisible. The Valkyrie said that they are invisible to humans. Are there people that can be invisible to everyone else? Cause I have to say that my instincts are screaming that something deadly is close by, close enough for me to touch, and I really, really want to shoot something.”

What's on the Reading Radar? #TBR #newreleases

I thought that I would do something a little different for this week's radar and post May's book releases that I'm looking forward to. I'm probably going to break it up between two Saturdays to keep the post from becoming super long. There was a lot coming out this month that I squeed over. :)

Title: His Fairy Share
Series: Starfig Investigations, 3
Author: Meghan Maslow
Length: 416 pages

Genre: Romance / Fantasy / Gay / Humor

Notes:

Blurb: “Why does this always happen to us?” –Quinn Broomsparkle, wizard extraordinaire

Six months have passed since wizard Quinn Broomsparkle left behind his indentured servant shackles. He’s in love with his half-dragon/half-fairy familiar, Twig Starfig. He’s got a home. Friends. A job. And a father-in-law he could do without. A pretty close to perfect life. But as Quinn has learned the hard way, things rarely stay peaceful for long. Especially when a Starfig’s involved.

Summoned to his home realm and a past he’d thought left behind, Quinn and Twig find themselves in the middle of evil machinations . . . with no clear enemy. When Quinn’s younger brother, Zak, goes missing, it’s Starfig Investigations on the case.

Being the first wizard in a thousand years isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. On top of a missing brother, a broken-hearted red fury, an archivist with a secret, and a ghost pirate-parrot who’s determined to return to his captain, Quinn and Twig’s relationship is sorely tested when questions—and unhappy answers—about their mating dilemma are pushed to the fore.

All Quinn wants is his fairy share of happiness. Is that so much to ask?

Title: Queen Takes Sunfires: Karmen Sunna, Book 2

Author: R. J. Blain
Length: 388 pages

Genre: Urban Fantasy / Comedy / Alternate Universe / Romantic Elements /

Notes:

Blurb: Most days, Anwen regrets working at a funeral home. With the residents no longer inclined to stay in their coffins where they belong, she’s got her hands full making sure everyone follows the rules:

In the funeral home, there is no screaming, no murdering, no mutilation, no possessions, no kidnappings, no resurrections, and no cursing of any type. Be quiet and stay polite.

The day Old Man McGregor decides to take a walk and disturbs her peace, Anwen learns there’s a lot more to the basement in the funeral home than a vampire and a handsome gentleman on ice.

If she’s not careful, she’ll learn first-hand why ‘eternally yours’ is the most potent of threats.

Warning: this novel contains romance, humor, bodies, shenanigans, and mythological puppies. Proceed with caution.

Title: Reawakening
Series: Reawakening, 1
Author: Amy Rae Durreson
Length: 317 pages

Posing as a caravan guard, he sets out across the Alagard Desert in search of the spirit who made him smile.

But it isn’t just a single dragon who has woken again. As Tarn and his new friends press deeper into the desert, their path grows perilous, and it soon becomes obvious that something dark and terrible has returned to the world.

The Shadow Tarn once defeated has woken before him and now he is the only one left to defend his new friends, his desert, and all that lies below the protective shadow of his wing.

When he meets Marcus and together they stumble onto the secrets of the mine, Will is going to have decide if he’s able to defy his father. If he’s strong enough to go for what, and who, he knows what’s right.

The differences between the two men are as wide as the desert. Wealth, race, status – despite all this, fate keeps throwing them together again and again. They’re going to have to work together if they’re going to save countless lives. The hard part, however, is going to be figuring out what to do with their hearts if the ruby dust ever settles.

Grace gave him everything, and he can’t let her legacy suffer for his childish fear of his mother.

Griffith Taylor doesn’t want much. Quiet nights on the range, a big blue sky, and no rattlesnakes in his boots. He definitely doesn’t want to travel to Boston to take care of his late boss’s heir. When he lays eyes on his charge, everything changes. Not just because Augie is the best looking greenhorn he’s ever clapped eyes on, oh no.
