Excerpt

"You really should try to eat something, High Lord," Ishaya said.

Kaori closed his eyes. The smell of the food--while undoubtedly well-prepared and mouth-watering--was making him feel ill. But if he hadn't eaten all day, then neither had Hunter. And Hunter would not eat before he did; not out of a misguided overabundance of fealty, but because he was as much of a mother hen as Ishaya was.

Reluctantly, he selected a plate of light crackers and cheeses, adding a pile of thin-sliced veal at Haku's insistence. The food clung to his throat when he tried to swallow, without any taste at all. He nodded gratefully when Haku handed him a cup of spiced wine to wash it down with.

"You, too," he said, frowning in Hunter's direction. "Don't tell me you aren't hungry."

Hunter made no move to accept the offer. "I want to be sure you have enough to eat first," he said. "You need--"

"There's more than enough here to feed all of us if we want it, and half the grounds staff besides. Eat, damn you."

A small smile touched Hunter's face as he slid down to sit at Kaori's other side and reached for a plate, piling it high with sliced veal and fruit. "If you insist." There was an ironic twist to the words.

The familiar byplay made something inside Kaori's chest loosen. Hunter, at least, wasn't treating him any differently because his father had died. Taking comfort from the shoulder brushing so warmly against his, he finally found the courage to look up and meet Ishaya's eyes.

"There are probably things I need to know," he said. The words felt heavy in his mouth. "Affairs of state, or... something." He felt lost.

Ishaya smiled kindly at him. "There's no need for you to worry about that tonight, High Lord." His eyes were soft. "Rest assured that all is running as it should within your kingdom. For tonight, at least, you have no responsibilities other than spending time with your friend."

"I'd like to hear about that university in Gyre," Haku said, selecting a grape from the platter and taking a slow bite from it. "What was it like, living over there? Was it horrible?"

"No, it wasn't horrible at all. Gyre is really a wonderful place. Let me tell you about the campus where I was living...." Kaori was glad for the delay in having to face his new reality for that much longer. He felt more relaxed now as he talked about the country he had spent the past three years visiting, the things he'd learned there, the culture, the language, the people. In return, Haku told him about the trials he'd passed in order to become a member of the Palace Guard, and some of the campaigns he'd been on. Kaori was unsettled to realize that his friend had significant battle experience now, and had even killed on occasion, when it had become necessary. That image jarred discordantly with the image of the childhood companion he carried around in his mind's eye. In many ways, this new Haku seemed a stranger to Kaori; the thought made him feel sad. But time moved on, and people changed. That was the way of the world.

At length, he began to feel quite sleepy. He realized with some surprise that he had eaten more than he thought he'd be able to.

"Your room has been prepared," Ishaya said, drawing his attention, "if you'd like to retire for the night."

Kaori caught himself in the middle of another yawn and ducked his head embarrassedly. He really was very tired. The thought of going to sleep as if nothing untoward had happened disturbed him, but at the same time he wanted it desperately, wanted the dark and the temporary oblivion it offered.

"Yes," he said, sighing. "I think I'd better." He smiled, feeling very much aware of his friends sitting around him like a balustrade, like armor, sitting with him so he wouldn't have to be alone on this night of all nights. "Thank you."

He got up to walk out of the room, but stopped before he reached the doorway. Turning around, he met Haku's eyes and asked, "Did my father suffer at all?"

Haku hesitated before replying. "It wasn't easy for him," he said at last. "But what is, in this life?"

Ishaya leaned forward in agitation. "Haku!" he said sharply, with a disapproving frown. "There was no reason for him to know--"

Haku shrugged, unimpressed by the other man's ire. "We shouldn't get into the habit of lying to him. Life is hard, and it's only going to get harder." He glanced in Kaori's direction, his gaze contemplative. "Especially for him."

The words sent a wave of coldness washing through Kaori, but he nodded agreeably enough. "Thank you, Haku." Feeling numb, he left the room.

He'd taken nearly five full steps before he realized that Hunter had fallen in beside him. Glancing at the man irritably, he said, "You'd better get some sleep, too."

"Of course." Hunter's tone was nonchalant. It occurred to Kaori that he'd never once seen the other man sleep. He just always seemed to be there, watching over him.

"Seriously, Hunter." That thought worried him, for some reason. "I don't think you have to worry about anyone trying to assassinate me here in the palace tonight."

"No," Hunter said agreeably. "You should be safe enough here."

"So get some rest. Please."

Hunter's eyes were extraordinarily dark when they looked at him. For the first time, Kaori wondered if he was mourning Akashi's passing, too. Had the two of them been close at all? They must have been, for Akashi to have assigned Hunter the task of protecting his only heir.

"I will," Hunter said after a moment's pause. "Promise me you'll get some sleep as well. Don't just lie awake, worrying."

It had been nearly three years since Kaori had last slept in a room alone. Having a roommate had been troublesome for him at first, but he'd swiftly grown accustomed to the sound of another breath in the darkness next to his own. All of a sudden, he missed Ben so poignantly it brought a physical ache to his chest.

"Yes," he said, wondering if he sounded half as insincere as he felt. "I promise."

They walked in silence the rest of the way to Kaori's room. At this hour, there was no one else out and about in the corridors. The emptiness of the palace was unsettling, as if it were inhabited by nothing more than ghosts, or memories. Kaori wasn't sure which of the two would be worse.

He paused outside the door to his bedroom when he reached it, staring hard at the elaborate whorls etched into the polished wood. At his side Hunter waited patiently, as if sensing that he needed to find the courage to speak.

"Everything's changed," he said at last. There was no one else he could have made such an admission to, not even Haku. "And I don't think... I don't think I can be what they need from me."

"Nonsense." Hunter's tone was kind. "You've spent the past two years--nearly three--studying politics and economic stratagems. You're already more educated than your father ever hoped of being."

"My father was a great warrior."

"It takes more than war to rule a country."

"I'm too young. The lords of the Council are going to laugh at me if I try to tell them what to do."

"I assure you they won't."

"They'll be right to. I don't know anything. I mean, I do, but it's all book knowledge. I don't know anything about their fears, about the issues they're facing."

"You'll learn. The important thing to remember is that you aren't alone. We're all here for you, and we're rooting for you. We'll help you all that we can."

Hunter. Haku. Ishaya. Kaori smiled slightly at that reminder. "I'm probably going to fall on my ass."

The corner of Hunter's mouth curled upward. "If you do, you'll pick yourself up again. You'll make mistakes, you'll learn from them, and life will go on. Your father made more than his fair share of them."

That made Kaori raise his head, surprise widening his eyes. The thought that his father might have been fallible rocked the foundations of his world.

After a moment, he asked, "Do you miss him?"

For a moment, it didn't look as if Hunter was going to answer. Then he turned away with a small sigh, so soft Kaori almost couldn't hear it.

"I think you have the potential to be a far greater ruler than your father ever had a hope of being," he said, without looking at Kaori's eyes. "I think people are going to assume, at first, that you might be just like him... and that they'll be pleasantly surprised when they find out you're not."

Kaori turned those last statements over in his head and tried to determine if, taken as a whole, they amounted to a compliment for him, or for his father. He decided he was too tired to come to a coherent conclusion and that he'd do best to just let it go for now.

He slid the fingers of one hand over the surface of his door, feeling the familiar warmth of it slide in through his skin. "Promise me," he said, staring down at his hand. "Promise me... you aren't going to change. Promise me you'll never treat me any differently because of... of what I am."

Hunter turned to look at him then, surprise at the words tightening the skin between his brows. A moment later, his expression softened. "Is that an order, High Lord?"

Kaori frowned. "No. It's not. It's only a request."

Hunter nodded seriously. "Then unfortunately, I'm going to have to decline. I can't promise never to change. I don't know anyone who could do that." When Kaori opened his mouth to speak, he said, "But I will promise always to treat you as I have in the past."

"Like an obsessive mother hen, you mean," Kaori said, subsiding with a grin.

"If you'd like to think of it that way." Hunter's eyes sparkled. "But seriously, Kaori. You don't have anything to worry about. No matter what happens, I'll always be by your side."

It was ridiculous, how much comfort that promise gave him. Kaori was struck by the sudden urge to ask the other man to go into his bedroom with him, just so he wouldn't have to sleep alone.

Flustered, he turned back toward his door. "Go get some sleep, then. You promised."

"I did." Hunter lifted a hand and ruffled Kaori's hair, his palm settling in a warm, heavy weight on the top of his scalp. "You go to sleep, too."

Kaori repressed a shiver. "I told you I would." He pushed open the door and stepped into his room, feeling strangely bereft when the other man's hand fell away from his hair.

He didn't look back when he closed the door.

Re-release: Twin Flames (Sumeria's Sons, 1) #gaypnr #gayuf #shifters #mpreg #friendstolovers #matebetrayal

I'm a bit behind on my announcements for the re-release of Twin Flames. Yikes! The series has been rebranded and the given new covers, which I LOVE. Natasha Snow did an excellent job of corralling my ideas into sometime more cohesive and she was fantastic to work with.

As of last Friday, the re-release of Sumeria's Sons has started. Every Friday to October 30th each book in the series will release. For the first time ever, the series will be available on Kindle Unlimited. I'm working getting the paperbacks uploaded so those will be coming soon.

Betrayed and broken, Tristan never thought he would find love again.

A Lycan descendant of Gilgamesh and Enkidu, Tristan is not as extraordinary as his ancestors. He is an average warrior, unremarkable throughout. But this fact does not trouble him because he has found his Twin Flame, the one person destined to be his, who will love him unconditionally, life after life.

Then his Flame betrays him, leaving him shattered and dying. Brokenhearted, Tristan dissolves the sacred bond and leaves. His best friend, Ushna, accompanies him, vowing to guard and protect him, and Tristan slowly comes to realize that love does not require a sacred bond.

But if he hopes to keep the love he chooses, he will have to face the magical force that swirls deep inside him. Together, Tristan and Ushna will confront ancient secrets, lies, mythical creatures, and the return of absent gods…

I'm Late! I'm Late! Darksoul: Part One

I'm so relieved. I turned in Darksoul to the moderators for the GoodReads MM Romance group on July 27th.

But I was technically late.

When I picked up the extra story prompt in May they gave me a generous two months to write the story. July 13th was the due date and I thought it would be a piece of cake! Wow. I really jinxed myself because not long after, everything came in at once and I had to put the story on hold.

At the beginning of July I realized I needed more time, but I wasn't sure if I would get it because it was so late in the game. The Mods worked with me and they gave me a couple of extra weeks. Right before I went to Rainbow Con I made a decision. At 43k the story was only half finished, so what I did was make sure our MCs were together, gave a hint of what was still to come, and turned in Darksoul: Part One. I hated doing that but I overextended myself. If I only had this story to work on in that sixty day period it would've been easy to finish the 100k, but it didn't work out that way.

The plan is that once I finish with the edits for Dragon's Eye, Sumeria's Sons #5, I'll return to and work on the second half of Darksoul. I'll probably self publish the complete novel in the fall/winter. It's going to be awesome. ^_^

The mystery surrounding a dead friend will lead the two men down a dark and seedy trail of blackmail and lies. LYS Mac Nicol Trademark

Susan Mac Nicol is a self confessed bookaholic, an avid watcher of videos of sexy pole dancing men, self confessed geek and nerd and in love with her Smartphone. This little treasure is called ‘the boyfriend’ by her long suffering husband, who says if it vibrated, there’d be no need for him. Susan hasn’t had the heart to tell him there’s an app for that… She is never happier than when sitting in the confines of her living room/study/on a cold station platform scribbling down words and making two men fall in love. She is a romantic at heart and believes that everything happens (for the most part) for a reason. She likes to think of herself as a ‘half full’ kinda gal, although sometimes that philosophy is sorely tested. Lover of walks in the forest, theatre productions, dabbling her toes in the cold North Sea and the vibrant city of London where you can experience all four seasons in a day , she is a hater of pantomime (so please don’t tar and feather her), duplicitous people, bigotry and self righteous idiots. In an ideal world, Susan Mac Nicol would be Queen of England and banish all the bad people to the Never Never Lands of Wherever -Who Cares. As that’s never going to happen, she contents herself with writing her HEA stories and pretending, that just for a little while, good things happen to good people.

FAR Jessie G Bio Photo

Like many readers, the dream of being a writer has been with me a long time. After three decades of trying, I'd begun to doubt. Thanks to social media, I followed my favorite authors hoping to glean some words of wisdom as I pounded out half-formed ideas with alarming regularity. Two repetitive themes emerged: To be a great writer you must read a lot and your butt must be in the chair every day like it's a job. The more you write, the easier it will be to write and the better you will be at writing. I took that advice to heart and write every day. With two published books and counting, it's been amazing to have made this dream my reality.

I am a firm believer in marriage equality, love at first sight, power dynamics and happily ever after. I'm a lover of strong secondary characters and series filled with families, biological or chosen. All are themes you'll find throughout my books.

GGR-LB Excerpt

If he had to look in those concerned eyes one more second he was going to lose his shit and he didn’t even know why. What he needed to do was get the ball rolling on their forty-eight hour fuck-fest. The clock was ticking and he refused to waste another second pondering things best left un-pondered. “So what’s the prize?”

“The prize?” Damn but Javier was cute with his nose wrinkled in confusion. Kyle couldn’t resist leaning in and rubbing his own against it, causing Javier to giggle. There it was again, boy on the cusp of discovery.

“For the winner of tongue tag, there’s got to be a prize.” Kyle pretended to think about it and rocked back against Saul, willing him into the game. “I know!”

Vibrating with anticipation, Javier pressed in close along his front, rubbing their cocks together and begged, “Tell me!”

And to think, Javier had called him adorable. “Winner gets to ride his cock.”

Saul rocked him forward and he could feel Javier automatically respond. Just like that they were one fluid movement, now if only Javier were willing to roll over and offer up his ass they could be one fluid fuck chain. Though he was content to be the bottom, Kyle just knew being the guy in the middle of Saul and Javier...in this position...was going to rock his world. The whole staged mΓ©nage to get the right camera angle usually included a test of his dexterity and rarely came with a satisfying orgasm. This right here, the leisurely seductive rocking felt so intimate and….damn! Focus, he needed to focus on the moment and store that thought away for the future.

“Well then what’s the loser get?” Javier asked.

It was the perfect response. Not that he thought either of them was going to be selfish lovers, but it was always good to get confirmation. “Uhm, I guess that depends. I’m thinking some oral gratification would be a good consolation prize. Does he do that?”

“Saul? Why wouldn’t he?” Kyle had known many a top who thought it was beneath them to suck cock; apparently Javier never had that problem. “He’s really good, too.”

Hot damn! Did Saul suck cock the way he kissed, like he had all the time in the world to enjoy it? Kyle was so ready to experience that! “How good?”

“Like...” Javier chewed on his lower lip as he sought the right words. “Like mind numbing, toe curling, shake you apart and leave you begging for more, good.”

“Well now—” Kyle teased when he felt Saul’s smug smile against his nape. “—it’s not that I don’t trust your opinion, baby, but I should really judge that for myself.”

“Always best to experience these things first hand.” Javier nodded seriously. How was he to resist this pair, really?

“Are the two of you going to talk about it all morning or will there be actual tongue tagging soon?” Saul grumbled. “Not that this hasn’t been amusing, but one of you better make a move or I’m leaving you both here to suffer.”

“Suffer?” Kyle scoffed, “We’ll just fuck without you.”

Faster than he could think of why that challenge was such a bad idea, Saul flipped him onto his stomach and pinned him. With Javier squeaking and scurrying back, and Saul giving him his best early morning glare, Kyle could not find a single thing to regret in his statement. In fact, it was all he could do not to pat himself on the back and whoop out an enthusiastic Hell Yes!

“I would’ve thought a smart pup like you wouldn’t need this spelled out for him. My pups don’t fuck without me and back talk like that will make me impose further sanctions,” Saul warned.

Kyle really wanted to push his luck. If not for Javier watching them curiously, he would have aimed for the back talker of the year award.

His wings instinctively brought out the urge in him to fly, and Kellan's need to be free became his obsession.

When the dark, swirling clouds loomed one night, Kellan abandoned the place he had called home, taking to the sky in search of his freedom and to seal his heart that seemed incomplete.

Because Kellan's secret was too great for anyone outside the institute to know about, TC unleashed genetically altered Maniacs to bring him back.

Through independence, his amazing reality brought riveting adventures to a man he found and couldn't seem to live without. They get tangled with hair-raising suspense that adds heart-pounding tension to every attempt they make at living their unique affair. They faced uncertainty so hectic that staying together was the least of their challenges, and it caused many of their bouts with passion to spiral in and out of chaos.

Along their frenzied path to survive, hidden secrets surface about Kellan, prompting each move they make in order to truly set him free.

Could Kellan's one true love and passion to fly be the death of him?

It's a magnificently inventive adventure of menace, romance, and extreme erotic pleasures.

Excerpt:

“Omigawd,” Neil hummed. He felt a slight smile on his face when he heard the angel’s deep voice speak a few more words.

The small bits of communication seemed like tokens of trust, and that trust was something they would need to help them both cope with what they were about to face. It was some sort of miracle or paranormal event that had caused this birdman’s unexpected appearance, Neil knew that much. Either way, he was close to being sure the whole thing was going to get ugly, if all of what was taking place, including the helicopter searching for the angel, was real. He couldn’t look away or dismiss the whole scenario from his mind. It was too late for that. He had been pulled in. He was involved.

Neil didn’t want to lose site of the magnificent creature he had stumbled upon, but he believed stepping back was the best thing to do, to give the angel some private space. He sought to build trust with the angel and the best way to do it was to walk away and let him make up his own mind to follow. The last thing Neil wanted to do was smother the poor winged soul.

When Neil finally stepped out from under the trees and back onto the beach, towing Dylan with him, he wondered if he was ever going to see Kellan again. He found himself glancing back a few times as he walked away, seeking Kellan out, hoping he hadn’t left. “What am I doing?” he mumbled. “This is crazy. Go back.”

Dylan ran ahead toward the house as if everything was back to normal and there was never an angel sitting in the tree down the beach. It’s amazing how a dog’s mind shifts from one moment to the next, forgetting about what’s behind them and only thinking of what’s ahead.

“This is crazy, go back,” Neil repeated.

Guest Post: Remmy Duchene Talk Dirty To Me

Hi everyone!

I am here today to take over Lexi’s space and have some fun—no, not that space, get your minds out of the gutter! Lol.

Seriously, I am Remmy Duchene and I write interracial romance—most times erotic—it all depends on what I feel the moment I get to the first love scene in the book. I generally work on the romantic side with some spice tossed in. Anyways, I am multipublished, and so far people seem to dig what I do. I am very thankful and blessed in that regard.

I was going to talk about why I write interracial but I do that all the time. I was going to talk about women writing manlove, but that too has been done to tears, so today I’ll be talking to you about phone sex. Oh yes, that’s right, I went there.

People still think phone sex is taboo. I’m not really sure why since kids these days are doing way worse.  I mean, back in the day, you had phone sex with someone then go to sleep, there is no evidence. These days, the young’uns are taking pictures and videos, sexting and all these other things that just make me scratch my head.

But why is talking dirty to someone on the phone so taboo—still? I’m not sure, but maybe it’s the fact you are being naughty with someone you can’t really see. Or does it still carry the stigma of men maxing out their credit cards calling to speak dirty little things to a woman name Lolita with an exotic foreign accent?

While I was writing Talk Dirty To Me I had the pleasure—not the pleasure—of speaking with a sex phone operator.  He was very nice and well spoken and explained a few things to me that shocked me and set me straight. These days, women call those lines as much if not more than men—most often times they are married and their husband either got bored with them or the romance has died so they are craving something a little more—risque. Now don’t get me wrong—I’m not defending it because cheating is cheating—but this is what I was told.

He also told me for the most part, his clients are gay men or men that are on “the downlow” –just an aside, remember when being on the down low just meant you wanted to keep a relationship a secret and had nothing to do with being gay and not wanting to tell people about it?—back to what my new pal told me.

These are men who want to hear the rough, hard voice of another man and using it to get off. After speaking with him, I understand why it’s so secretive. We live in a society that has certain norms and while phone sex is a normal thin that happens constantly, society still frowns on it. Because the rest of the world see it as wrong, people who indulge has to go to like the black market of sex.

We all have things that turns us on—weather it’s a breast fetish, a foot fetish, a fetish for ropes and leather, of being spanked…to talking dirty on the phone with some stranger—who are we to judge others when our little naughty selves want things that are carnal just like everyone else?

Let your freak phone flag fly, because being naughty, is sometimes the best way to go.

Call you later! Um—wait, wrong blog—Hugs to all!

Then Jim’s arms were around his neck, and Jim pulled him into a deep kiss. Mark surrendered to the kiss, careful because he could still feel the remnants of the fever in Jim’s hot lips and slightly uncoordinated movements.

He laid Jim back on the swag, kissing him so softly that Jim whispered, “I’m not going to break, you know.”

“I know.” Mark carefully removed Jim’s shirt and pants, then stripped him completely, kissing him all the while.

He stopped for a moment to undress himself, spared the horses and the cave entrance a glance, and then returned to kissing Jim. Dan wouldn’t be back for hours.

Silently he pressed kisses down Jim’s broad chest, nibbling gently at the hard nubs of his nipples, feeling with gratitude the chest below rise in a gasp as he did so. Mark tasted the taut stomach, slightly salty with sweat, and heard a moan of pleasure from Jim. He smiled and licked again, a gentle dab of the tongue, and got the same response. He listened to the contented moans from above and kept giving tiny licks and nips down Jim’s stomach, which was now rolling under him and pushing up into the pressure, until Jim’s erection bumped Mark’s chin. Mark lifted his head slightly and carefully took the taut glans into his mouth, tasting more salt—there was fluid leaking from the tip.

“Oh, Mark,” moaned Jim, his voice throaty and deep.

Mark smiled and worked the glans in his mouth, running his lips and tongue around in circles until Jim was pressing rhythmically up against him, pushing for more contact. Mark let his mouth open a fraction more to allow Jim’s erection to slide gradually farther into his mouth and heard Jim groan, “Oh-oh.” He looked up to see Jim’s chest heaving and blue eyes looking down to him, hooded with desire. The taste of salt increased, and Jim became rock hard in his mouth.

Mark wet his fingers with spit and precum and teased them around the outside of Jim’s entrance, wetting it thoroughly before slipping a finger in, then another and another. Jim’s moans became more desperate. Mark pushed his fingers in and out, circling them, then plunging them in and out of Jim’s body again and again until Jim’s moans gained a pleading tone. Then he extracted his fingers and shifted upward to let his own leaking erection press against Jim’s hole.

Jim grabbed Mark’s hair and pulled him up to kiss him frantically, his breath coming in rough gasps in Mark’s ear. Mark teased him, nibbling and ghosting kisses across his neck until Jim begged, “Take me!” and claimed his mouth in a bruising kiss. Mark lined himself up and watched Jim’s face for any sign of a wince as he pressed into Jim slowly, his own erection so hard now that he didn’t have to guide himself in. The hot walls of Jim’s channel closed around him, and he heard himself give a guttural groan as he pressed slowly into the warmth and pressure of Jim’s body.

Jim closed his eyes and whispered, “I’m gonna shoot my load any second.”

Mark whispered back, “Open your eyes, then.”

Jim did, and the desire and pleasure in them was enough to make Mark growl again, grab Jim’s shoulders, and thrust hard and deep into him. Jim’s neck arched back, and he gasped. Mark wanted to sink his teeth into that exposed neck and thrust again and again, but he resisted and stilled, then pulled himself out very slowly.

“Jesus, Mark....” Jim’s voice was shattered as Mark began to push in again slowly.

Mark hesitated, then continued, watching the pleasure contort Jim’s face as he did. Jim’s teeth were gritted as Mark pushed himself fully home, and Jim whispered, “You’re killing me.”

Mark nibbled on his ear and breathed, “I almost lost you this morning.” He bucked his hips once, hard, and Jim gave a small noise.

Mark began to withdraw again with agonizing slowness, then heard a strangled whisper from Jim. “I can’t—”

Mark smiled and thrust himself in again, slowly but powerfully, pushing himself in until he was fully seated, then giving that slight buck inward that he knew Jim loved so much. Suddenly he heard Jim gasp and felt hot moisture between them and Jim convulse against him. He held Jim through his climax, watching the handsome face tighten and tip away from him as Jim arched up against him. He pressed quick, hot kisses up the corded tendons in Jim’s neck and whispered hotly in his ear, “I love you.”

“God,” managed Jim at last. “God.”

Mark kissed him and waited for Jim to meet his eyes again, then began to pump into him, still slowly, but putting all the power he could muster into his thrusts. Jim watched his face as he did so, and something in his look undermined Mark’s control so he began to thrust rapidly and deeply into Jim. Mark groaned his pleasure with each movement he made and was not sure when the groans became low growls.

Pleasure began to build in him, each push into Jim’s now slick, tight channel sending a thrill through his whole body. He struggled to keep control, but despite his best effortswas soon rutting into Jim’s body with abandon. When his climax came, it was intense, tightening his whole body and leaving him shaken.

Afterward he lay beside Jim, grateful to still be able to breathe in his familiar scent. If Jim had died.... Mark closed his eyes and pushed his face even closer to Jim. Jim rolled over to face him and pulled him into a close embrace, the strong, bronzed arms holding Mark tightly against him. Mark closed his eyes and tried to breathe.

Jim’s voice broke through the silence. “What do you feel?”

Mark looked up into his eyes. “What?”

“When we do that, what do you feel?”

Mark hesitated. “You. Inside you. The heat.”

“Is it like a woman?”

Mark hesitated for even longer, then whispered, “I wouldn’t know.”

They lay in silence for a few moments, then Mark asked, “What do you feel?”

There was a long silence, then Jim said, “You. Like you’re part of me. Like you come into my body, and we’re one person. And every time we do it, I want more.”

Mark looked away, then couldn’t resist looking back, and saw Jim’s eyes gleaming at him. He asked, “Would you go back to a woman? Do you want children again?”

Jim stared off into the distance. “I don’t think so. Haven’t thought about it. Have you?”

Mark nodded. “I bet you were a good father.”

Jim’s eyes suddenly turned ice blue, and he turned to Mark and answered, “If I had been, they’d still be alive, wouldn’t they?”

Mark blinked, unsure what to say, and looked away.

Launching Twin Flames Blog Tour

In The Beginning, There Was Frustration!

I started writing Twin Flames Because I was angry. I loved shifters and werewolves and had a running streak where I read some infuriating "mates" in both Het and M/M romance books. One of the mates would do or say something(s) asinine but because the "mate bond" the situation would get swept under the rug or have some lame apology and then they'd jump into the sack and have make-up sex. Now don't get me wrong, I love reading make-up sex but when I don't believe the resolution then it does nothing for me.

Internal conflict and personalities that occasionally bump can be enjoyable to read. But if certain issues or behavior were to happen to me in real life, my immediate response would be, "Hit the road Jack." I also enjoy reading about "mates" and "bonding" and I do love a good growly, "Mine!" even though I use them sparingly when I write because I feel if they occur too many times then I'm beating the reader over the head with repetitive behavior, and really, it can quickly become old when overdone.

So I was sitting there fuming because the asshat mate swept bad behavior under the rug and the two reconciled when I would've been tickled if they had broken up. I whipped out a piece of paper and started scribbling. After I wrote the first chapter of what I'd begun calling "Clean Break" I felt cleansed, as if I had exercised all the demons of reader frustration. Reading it over, an idea formed and I emailed the chapter to a friend.

"What do you think?"

"OMG, you have to finish it!"

In all honesty, I had packed up my pen and paper when I was twenty because I couldn't see a way where I could make a living writing. I have two file drawers packed full of stories I wrote before I stopped creative writing. Two years ago, almost 18 years later I desperately wanted to give it a try. I completed Clean Break with it coming in at about 96k and I submitted it to a publisher fully expecting to being rejected, but hoping for some critique because I knew it was a god-awful mess.

The craziest thing happened. The manuscript was accepted under the condition that I break the story into two parts. Clean Break gave birth to Twin Flames and Songs of the Earth.

As you can imagine the first time through editing was grueling. The manuscript was a complete mess but I swallowed my pride, shed some tears, made fun of myself, and learned a ton. Now Twin Flames will be re-released on October 1st. Re-editing the manuscript I could clearly see how much my writing had improved over the last two years. I was pleased as well as a little distressed. ^_^ Happy to have a chance to clean up Twin Flames, I polished it as well as correcting some continuity problems. Tristan was a total queen and my editor helped me to tone him down a bit so that he didn't come off as a teenager. *cackles* I was feeling pretty frustrated when I wrote that first chapter.

The blog tour posts will flow into each other, like a continuing conversation. Since this a re-release I was trying to keep from giving away spoilers to those who haven't read the series yet, which was harder than I thought it would be.

Another great thing that came out of re-editing Twin Flames was the final word count met Less Than Three's minimum for printing. I will be giving a couple away for the blog tour along with a really nice canvas tote bag, coffee cup, and some other pieces of swag. I've attached the list of blog tour stops. You can enter every day by identifying that day's Twin Flames Fact

I hope to see you there!!
