What's on the Reading Radar? #read #TBR #WishList

This was one of those weeks that went by in a blink and not because I was super busy. Writing is going at a good clip and reading has been alright. Audible had that huge sale a week or so ago and I bought a ton since I listen while crocheting (and I crochet a lot! LOL). The sale made me brave and I bought audios for several new-to-me stuff and so far it's been 0/3. Because I spent so much money, I felt guilty for thinking about abandoning the books and ended up forcing myself to finish one that I ended up complaining about it every time I paused. After that experience, the next two I didn't even try to push through. You win some and lose some. I have plenty of other titles by authors I know and love so it's not so bad.

The days are warming up to the point that I can open the garage door and start reburnishing some chairs and other furniture. It will mean I won't crochet as much but I'll technically be more active.

Series: Diviners Game, 3
Author: Jennifer Cody
Length: 405 pages

Genre: Romance / Paranormal / D/s / Age Gap / Teacher-Student / Gay

Notes: By the end of book 2, I wasn't a fan of Chanda and I wasn't really interested in his and Robbie's romance. But I was invested in the overall plot arc and wanted to know what happened. I'll be honest and say I skipped all of their intimate scenes. Their romance before and after that was engaging but I'm really a low spice reader though I know there are a lot of readers who would love it. My opinion of Chandra did change while reading this and some of the strings left from book one about Tio were revealed and resolved. And I have to say, that I was more upset with Deejay at the end of this book once my suspicions were confirmed. #TeamTioAllTheWay. My adoration of Tio only solidified throughout the series.

Blurb: Robbie:

I don’t know how Chanda Marduke slipped past all my defensive walls. He’s a towering wall of muscle and strength, and I’ve been conditioned to fear men like him, but I’m falling in love. I know the attraction between us, the chemistry, and the friendship falls under a morally ambiguous standard, but he engages me in ways I have never experienced, he treats me like I have intrinsic, inherent value, and I can’t give that up for social mores that have failed to protect me my entire life. He may be the most terrifying man I’ve ever met, but we fit together too perfectly to let anything stand between us.

Lamentably, Fate's animus toward me followed me to Houston.

Chanda:

Until I walked into my classroom to find a pretty little guy reading one of the textbooks, I had no idea what temptation was. He’s my student, and I shouldn’t lust after him, but the more time I spend with him, the more I realize lust doesn’t begin to cover what I feel for him.

Unfortunately, another Diviner has drawn me into a real-life game of chess where every decision I make could end someone’s life. I’m trying to keep my pieces on the board, but free will is a bitch, and so are the Fates.

Title: Pass
Series: Shattered Pawns, 1
Author: Jennifer Cody
Length: 336 pages

Genre: Poly Romance / Paranormal / Fated Mates / Gay

Notes: So I finished this Thursday night and loved it. Half the reason I loved it was because it's Tio's romance
#TeamTioAllTheWay #TioIsMyBoo I was so happy that he got two fated mates. There is zero angst here and I was so engaged that I even read all the steamy scenes.

The world building and plot are excellent, but it follows the same format as the first trilogy with each book following different MCs and having an overlapping timeline with the other two books. Once again I find myself in the position of being invested in the plot even though I'm not particularly interested in the MC pairs of the next two books. To add to my concern, the next book has a sadomasochistic romance. I've read my share of BDSM and enjoyed some, but it's not something I seek out and I usually skip romances when it is part of the plot. I spent a couple hours Thursday night trying to decide if I could just be happy with how things resolved in Pass and just use my imagination to create a resolution. I really want to know what happens with the gods and I'm so hoping that Set gets trounced into puddy. And really, if there was a story about Charon and Anubis, I would be all over that book, like givemegivemegiveme. So I started Capture Thursday night. I expect to do a lot of skimming over the spicy scenes. The Forward does ask the reader to 'trust me' so I'm expecting a cliffhanger after something truly awful happens. You'll probably be hearing about it next weekend.

Blurb: Luca:

I’ve lived my life in the pursuit of justice. I worked my way from the police academy to detective to the leader of the organized crime task force. Then six weeks ago all that career momentum came to a screeching halt after someone set off a car bomb across the street from L.L. Security. That event changed everything for me. Six weeks of fear, looking over my shoulder, and pretending my world hasn’t crumbled down around my ears. Sometimes I wish I’d never heard of L.L. Security, sometimes I’m glad I at least know how dangerous this world really is. I may be the only detective who can see the wings on the body in my crime scene, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to find the guy’s killer even if my Captain keeps trying to erase my memories with magic.

Auggie:

Something is wrong with my roommate, but every time I ask, Luca says he’s fine. I want him to confide in me, but expecting him to talk to me when I’ve been hiding secrets from him for years seems a bit hypocritical. I have enough patience to wait until he’s ready to talk. The Chimera inside me isn’t in a hurry to mate him anyway, at least not until he comes home tasting just right. Luca kissed someone else and now the beast inside me is ready to take them both and make them mine.

Tio:

After my father sold my brother to the youngest prince of Morgaine, the Elven Realm, I thought it would take me a decade at least to buy him back, but my employer tussled with the wrong Headsman—well, Headsmen. Erroll’s execution relieves me of the contract I had with him, but it puts me and my brothers in infinitely more danger. My father is coming, one of my brothers won’t talk to me, the other doesn’t know who I am, and controlling my extra arms has become an exercise in futility; kissing Chimeras is not normal for me. I promise.

Series: Innkeeper Chronicles, 1
Author: Ilona Andrews
Length:

Genre: Urban Fantasy / Sci-Fi / Romantic Elements

Notes: #rereading This used to be one of my go-to rereads and I haven't picked it up in a while. It still holds up with amazing story building and characterizations but there was something that I noticed this time around. Sean uses female fairytale characters to provoke Arland and poke at Arland's beauty. Goldilocks. Rapunzel. It's the type of misogyny that easily recognizable nowadays since we are more aware of it. There isn't a lot of it, a couple of jabs, but it still smacked me in the face. I looked up the publication date and it says 2013, but I was published in 2012 and I know I first read this long before then. It bugs me and sours my enjoyment of the story a little. As an author, I would have gone back and replaced that with something else, but that is me. Book 4, Maud's story, doesn't have this BS so I figured that the authors are aware and evolved in to being more conscientious.

Blurb: On the outside, Dina Demille is the epitome of normal. She runs a quaint Victorian Bed and Breakfast in a small Texas town, owns a Shih Tzu named Beast, and is a perfect neighbor, whose biggest problem should be what to serve her guests for breakfast. But Dina is...different: Her broom is a deadly weapon; her Inn is magic and thinks for itself. Meant to be a lodging for otherworldly visitors, the only permanent guest is a retired Galactic aristocrat who can’t leave the grounds because she’s responsible for the deaths of millions and someone might shoot her on sight. Under the circumstances, "normal" is a bit of a stretch for Dina.

And now, something with wicked claws and deepwater teeth has begun to hunt at night...Feeling responsible for her neighbors, Dina decides to get involved. Before long, she has to juggle dealing with the annoyingly attractive, ex-military, new neighbor, Sean Evans—an alpha-strain werewolf—and the equally arresting cosmic vampire soldier, Arland, while trying to keep her inn and its guests safe. But the enemy she’s facing is unlike anything she’s ever encountered before. It’s smart, vicious, and lethal, and putting herself between this creature and her neighbors might just cost her everything.

Series: Treasure Trail, 1
Author: Brice Morgan
Length:

Genre: Romance / Mystery / Paranormal Ghosts Spirits / Gay

Notes: #reading I wanted a mystery and thought I'd give this a go. I'm hoping that this is more of a mystery with a side of romance. I am reading this slower than normal since there is a bit of pining going on that slows down the story for me, but they mystery is picking up and at the point that these two have cleared some air.

Blurb: Erik Mitchell traveled the world uncovering art fraud and relic theft, which pitted him against spoiled billionaires, unscrupulous collectors, mobsters, and cartels. He worked with law enforcement across the US and Europe, but then a sting goes wrong, Erik ends up injured and returns to find his partner cheating. He decides to stop globetrotting and buy an antique shop in scenic Cape May, New Jersey, rebuild his life, and nurse his broken heart.

Undercover Newark cop Ben Nolan went down in a hail of bullets when a bust went sideways, after a tip-off from a traitor inside the department. When he recovers, he spends a couple of years as a private investigator, only to tire of seeing the worst of human nature. So when his aunt offers him the chance to take over her rental real estate business in Cape May, it seems too good to be true. Now if he could just believe he could ever be lucky again in love.

Sparks fly when Erik and Ben meet. But when a cursed hotel's long-ago scandals resurface, the two men are pulled into a web of lies, danger, and deception that will test their bond - and might make them Cape May's newest ghosts!

Thank you for stopping by and reading!

What's on the Reading Radar? #read #TBR #WishList

What's going on? The week blew by and I don't feel as if I accomplished anything. The writing it crawling along like a slug. But!! But I've read something other than the Murderbot Diaries. Not really an accomplishment but something changed. LOL

Series: Murder Sprees and Mute Decrees, 1
Author: Jennifer Cody
Length: 215 pages

Genre: Romance / Paranormal / Gay

Notes: This wasn't what I'd expected. Don't go into this book thinking it'll be about a dark psycho. There is some gore (you know, all the mentions of murder means something) but it's also on the light-hearted side. There is some humor, but humor is different from person to person. This is angst free and you learn about the world along with Romily. I found it to be very fun and I looked up the author's back list when I finished. (There was an excerpt at the back for The Diviner's Game that sucked me in so I'm put that on my TBR.)

Blurb: Romily:

Third time’s the charm, right? At least that’s what I tell myself when I witness the same hot guy commit mass murder three times in a few days. I’m either the luckiest mute boy ever or possibly the unluckiest. Who knows, maybe him kidnapping me will turn into the greatest love story ever told? Hey, it could happen! You never know how these things will turn out. I happen to believe in love and soulmates, and if nothing else, Arlington Fox doesn’t treat my disability like a nuisance. It’s not everyday you find someone who just gets you, and I’m not going to look a gift horse in the mouth even if the horse in question is a man so good at killing people that I should probably introspect a bit about why that skews my moral compass and possibly my kinks. But c’mon, competence is sexy, amiright?

The Trouble with Trying to Date a Murderer is an MM Paranormal Romance with lots of sass, humor, a ridiculous 3000 year age-gap, and an inordinate number of tables.

Praise for The Trouble with Trying to Date a Murderer:

"Arlington Fox is so smexy, but if he accidentally gets blood on one of my suits again, we're going to have words." —Romily Butcher, aka the narrator.

"I'd never accidentally get blood on any of his suits." —Arlington Fox, aka Future Husband.

Title: Pyro
Series: Wayward Warriors, 1
Author: Kaydee Robins
Length: 139 pages

Genre: Romance / Paranormal / Motorcycle Club / Poly

Notes: I can't tell if this is MMM or MMMM romance. It sounds like the later. TBR

Blurb: Two hot bikers, one drag queen, a secret past and conflicting personalities. Is there any hope for this trio, or is their relationship doomed from the start?

Secrets ruin everything. Pyro’s is no exception. He knows he should trust his best friend and sometimes lover, Zen, with his past but he just can’t. He’s ashamed, it’s not who he’s worked so hard to be. Zen would look at him differently, right?

Keeping Zen at arm’s length is becoming increasingly difficult especially now that Teddy’s entered the picture. The hot little firecracker with the sinful mouth is making Pyro want things he shouldn’t.

Before Pyro can bare his soul, his men are kidnapped. Now he has to rescue his heart from the past that he ran so hard from. Can Pyro save his mates, or will his past destroy everything?

The Wayward Warriors series is a spinoff of the Legends of the Packs series. The books in this series are solo reads but do feature characters and cross timelines with Legends of the Packs. For maximum enjoyment, it is recommended to start with the first Legends of the Packs book, Ginger Fella.

Series: Fairy Godmother Inc., 1
Author: Elizabeth Silver
Length: 205 pages

Genre: Romance / Fairytale / Paranormal / Gay

Notes: I almost want to say this is an enemies to lovers but it can't be since the hated boss doesn't despise his employee. TBR

Blurb: Theo

I hate my job.

No. Wait. I don’t hate my job—I hate my boss. Maximus Cole. He’s short-tempered and selfish, and the past couple of years working for him has been a nightmare. The paycheck’s nice, but not worth staying a second longer than I have to, not now I have my freshly-printed graduate degree in Alchemy and Potions Sciences Management.

Right when I’m in the middle of living my best fantasy life of quitting in a blaze of glory, it all blows up in my face. He insists I take an insane job as his personal assistant for the next month and a half, or else.

If I turn him down and leave as planned, my cousin will lose his job, his apartment, everything. Or I could stay and do one little thing.

All I have to do is solve an unsolvable problem. Easy-peasy, right?

Max

When my sister gives me the gift of a fairy godmother wish, I’m tempted to throw it away. But then I come away from meeting a sassy fairy with a problem money can’t solve, and gift receipts suddenly make a lot more sense.

With the clock ticking down to complete social ruin, I wind up blackmailing a manager from one of my clubs into being my personal assistant. If anyone can figure out a way to break this curse, it’s him. He’s got the education and drive to make it happen. It also doesn’t hurt that he might be the only person in town who isn’t terrified of me.

The thing is, is my temporary assistant makes me feel things. Inconvenient things. And while I’m feeling human for the first time in years, I’m pretty sure all he sees when he looks at me is a beast.

Series: Monstrous Hearts
Author: Quell T. Fox
Length: 324 pages

Genre: Romance / Paranormal / Angels & Demons / MFM

Notes: This is a world that several authors have written in and it can be read on it's own as far as I can tell. TBR

Blurb: Villains in life and not in love.
Bexley

My mother always gave the best advice, even if it seemed like a crock of sh*t when I first heard it.

Right now, I’d love nothing more than to have my mother’s wise words to guide me through this roller coaster I call life. Especially after being taken to hell by a Wrath Demon, and a Lust Demon—more commonly known as an Incubus. Demons… Apparently, they’re real, and I’ve fallen under their spell and into their beds.
My only chance at surviving rests on the shoulders of my best friend and the Angel who found himself mixed up in this mess alongside us.

Problem is, I’m not so sure I can be saved anymore.

Kaine & Maxen

A night out on the town ends in chaos, but it’s nothing they aren’t used to. Living in the dark parts of hell, there is an array of bedlam on a day to day basis. Only this time, it’s on their front doors and they have no idea how to fix it before they’re sent to live the rest of their days out in the Pit.

Can the two troublesome demons find a way to make their problem go away, or is she too tempting to let go of?

Nightmares & Sin is part of the Monstrous Hearts series but it is a stand alone. You do not have to read the other books to enjoy this one, but I highly recommend that you do.

Title: Black Port
Series: Knight Protector: Black Wyvern, 1
Author: Rachel Ford
Length: 390 pages

Genre: Romance / Science Fiction / Action Adventure / LGBTQ+

Notes: This is ranking in the LGBTQ+ Sci-Fi category though it seems to be alternate world fantasy. It's been on my list of books to look at since last fall. TBR

Blurb: A secret order, hunted by two rival kingdoms. A network of spies and saboteurs.

Valia Iceborn is the daughter of two worlds, and a servant of none: her mother was a Northern outlaw and her father a Southern deserter. She grew up in the wilds of No Man’s Land, but the open sea is her home. She swears no allegiances, lest they be to gold.

Knight Protector Portia Daysen is a loyal of daughter of the empire. She goes where she’s told, and does what she’s told. When the empire sends her to the bustling city of Black Port to ferret out a mysterious secret order threatening stability in the region, she doesn’t think twice.

Plunged into a world of deceit and derring-do, where no one is who they pretend to be, and nothing is at it seems, Daysen’s investigation leads her to Valia’s dock.

And crossing sabers with the most formidable – and charming – foe of her career might be the last mission Knight Protector Portia Daysen ever takes.

Series:
Author: Sam Hall
Length: 212 pages

Genre: Romance / BBW / Fantasy / Why Choose?

Notes: I've heard that this one is cute and sweet. TBR

Blurb: As a plus sized woman and all round awkward noodle, I’d faced some challenges in my search for love, but none more than this.

I’ve stumbled through a portal to another dimension and fell into the arms of them: Vargan, Kren and Ghain. Three massive orc warriors who keep going on about courting me.

See, in their world, women are few and far between and are seen to be gifts from their goddesses and they are pretty intent on unwrapping me. But not just for a roll in the hay. They are looking for a love that will last a lifetime and the problem? So am I.

I’m torn between two worlds, one where my family, my friends, my life is and the other…?

I’m starting to think that’s where my heart is.

This book will be a stand alone with a guaranteed HEA, with the potential for other stories of women finding love with other monstrous suitors.

Series: The Diviner's Game
Author: Jennifer Cody
Length: 326 pages

Genre: Romance / Paranormal / Gay

Notes: This is a last minute addition to the Radar. I have to be honest. I've seen this recommended before and I have moved it on and off my wish list a couple of times because 1) age gap. The trope is not the reason why I would read any book. Many times I will skip this trope because it can be cringy. 2) tragic pasts. Sometime I cannot read even hints of tragedy because it causes me anxiety. If I have anxiety while reading, I can't enjoy the story. After I read The Trouble with Dating a Murderer, I looked up the author's back list hoping for something similar. There was an except for this book in the back matter and it intrigued me enough that I stuck a toe in the story waters. :) I'm glad that I gave it a chance. Yes, there is an age gap, but there are a couple of contributing factors that made Matt older than his physical age. Plus there was the paranormal side that changed things. Most of the characters in the book have experienced harsh trauma, and they exhibit characteristics of people who suffered from that trauma. There was no magic wand making things instantly better but it didn't feel as heavy as it could have, and that might just be my perception since I'm in a good emotional place. There is always something happening and it's interwoven with their family life. Deejay is a badass but he's fallible and makes mistakes and his character stays true to those character flaws. It makes him more human though there were a couple of times I wanted to give him a good smack with my disappointment. All the secondary characters are distinct (except the older brothers who were mentioned here or there but had very little page time). I really liked Matt and it's obvious his dependability and steadfastness are signs of his trauma. I have to add that I really felt sorry for Tio. He was feared for what he was not for who he was, and I didn't think he was a 'bad' guy. Morally ambiguous, yes. A joker and trickster, sure, but Matt and Deejay were at times tone deaf when it came to Tio and I'm waffling between being a little pissed on his behalf and understanding the fear and distrust. I hope to see him in the other books and I really hope that the author takes care of him. (Honestly, I've hated on a series simply because I got very emotionally attached to a side character who got shafted. I hope that this doesn't turn out to be the case.) I would totally recommend this book. Take the trauma warnings seriously. I'm off to read book two of the series.

Blurb: Deejay:

I have spent every day of the last ten years taking in and caring for my sisters’ sons. I’ve built this family from the ground up, and no one is going to destroy what’s mine. Someone keeps trying to kill one of my charges, but that person won’t win. I was born with enough magic to wipe them out of existence and have zero qualms about doing that. After all, I live by the motto:

We don’t hit first, but we always hit last.

Matt:

The best thing my old man did for me and my brother was die and leave us in a Naiad’s care. Deejay is rich, powerful, and sometimes gives me heart palpitations. I didn’t plan to woo him, but I won’t ignore the attraction between us for long.

After all, I might not have much time left. I don’t know what I did to Houston’s Non-Humans, but they’re not killing me without a fight.

Bring it.

Bishop to Knight One is a 115k age-gap MM paranormal romance with an HFN ending. This is not a standalone.

Trigger warnings include: off-page past child abuse and on-page descriptive violence. In this family, the boys have tragic backstories.

What's on the Reading Radar? #WishList #TBR #reading

Just have to say, the last few weeks have flown by for me. We are approaching mid-March and I'm like, "Where'd the time go?" Look behind you, that is where it went.

I've been doing a lot of book sampling and a I have some preorders waiting for me to crack them open, but my moooooddddd. I'm a mood reader and I just can't find what I'm looking for. It might be because I don't know. LOL

Series:
Author: Robin Blackwell
Length: 165 pages

Genre: Romance / Fantasy / Mystery / Gay

Notes: This caught my eye when it went on preorder. I haven't read this author before but the story sounds intriguing.

Blurb: Leoven, youngest prince of Daziralm, has been fighting on the front lines of what seems like a pointless war between his country and their neighbors, Fathor, when he receives word that his entire family, save his only little sister, has been killed and his family’s guardian deity, Indiris, has awakened from his centuries-long slumber.

Leoven returns home to find a younger sister deeply in mourning, a Fathorn ambassador eager to resume talks of a mysterious treaty, a distinct lack of clues in the deaths of his parents and younger siblings, and a minor god far more beautiful than his statues had ever led Leoven to believe.

Can Leoven unravel the mystery behind his family’s death and restore the fragile peace between Daziralm and Fathor before he falls afoul of his family’s killer? They say that minor gods can perform minor miracles in the service of their family, but will that be enough?

Series:
Author: Travis Baldree

Blurb: High Fantasy with a double-shot of self-reinvention

Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv the orc barbarian cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen.

However, her dreams of a fresh start pulling shots instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners and a different kind of resolve.

A hot cup of fantasy slice-of-life with a dollop of romantic froth.

What's on the Reading Radar? #read #TBR #WishList

I have missed posting the last couple of weeks. No real reason other than I forgot or remembered after the fact. I'm still on a reread cycle with the Murderbot series with some other books in between. I even went looking at my reread book list to see if there was something else I would like to reread because I don't want to burn myself out on rereading the series. It has happened to me before and I would rather not experience that sort of disappointment again.

On a funny note, my husband finally, FINALLY asked what it was about the series that I loved so much. I talked and talked until he 'took the dog for a potty break'. He was edging out the door and I was still talking. I did not start back up when he came back in. I figured the torture had lasted long enough.

In the meantime, I did read some preorders that came in, though I haven't really looked for new books to read. Lucky, I have a list that I save specifically for the Reading Radar to go through.

Series: The Olympus Pride, 3
Author: Suzanne Wright
Length: 371 pages

Genre: Romance / Paranormal

Notes: I'm glad this book is about Aspen and Camden and not Luke (not really interested). I was hoping for this story because I was really curious and I love friends-to-lovers. Man, the denial is heavy on both sides. #reading

Blurb: Aspen Montgomery was nine-years-old when she befriended Camden Priest—a boy with dead eyes and dark urges. Since that day, they’d been inseparable. She hadn’t expected to later develop a major crush on him. Or expected that the crush would fail to pass. Or ever thought that she'd grow to wish that she could one day claim him as her mate. It’s never going to happen. She knows that. To him, she's a friend, nothing more. So it’s time to make some changes to establish some better boundaries. Which would be a hell of a lot easier if he didn't fight her on it.

There is only one person in the world that Camden Priest gives a damn about—Aspen. She's his best friend, his anchor, his conscience, the very reason he's sane. There's only one secret he ever kept from her … he wants more than friendship. Knowing she doesn't feel the same, he put a chokehold on his need for her. But when some asshole claims to be Aspen's true mate and danger starts closing in on her, Camden's control becomes precarious and platonic lines are crossed. He knows what he should do—leave it at a one-night stand to protect their friendship. He's just not so sure he can.

Series: Ghostly Guardians, 1
Author: Louisa Masters
Length: 239 pages

Genre: Romance / Paranormal /

Notes: I enjoyed this take on ghosts and mediums. I am not a fan of the Assumption Trope, when someone makes the wrong assumption at a glance and doesn't do anything to make sure that assumption was right (or wrong). Despite that, once things were resolved it was enjoyable. I am looking forward to the next book to see how things turn out with the vortex.

Blurb: When you can talk to ghosts, things are bound to get spirited.

The ghosts have been there since before I can remember. When I was a kid, they doted on me, but as I got older, they got more demanding. I’ve spent my whole life seeing and talking to dead people and trying to pretend I’m not, because the living just don’t understand. Nobody wants to be around the freak who claims to see ghosts.
Until I go to Mannix Estate.

Once a private country home, then a posh hotel, it was closed after a suspicious incident but is now an immersive historic experience. It’s also haunted AF, and everyone knows it. Finally, I’ve found a place to work and live where I can be useful. Where I’m actually wanted.

There are only two problems: I spent a hot, sweaty, satisfying night with Ewan the blacksmith before I knew we’d have to work together. Everyone knows sex with colleagues is a bad idea, right? Even if he’s the world’s most ripped cinnamon roll.

Plus, the ghosts are keeping secrets. There’s something going on that’s not normal, even for a haunted estate. And I suspect that when the truth comes out, I’m the one who’ll have to deal with it… and it won’t be good.

Series: Aura, 4
Author: Bellora Quinn, Angel Martinez
Length: 276 pages

Genre: Romance / Alternate World / Fantasy / Gay /

Notes: I really look forward to jumping back into this world. Ryld's Shadows releases on March 8th. I'm going to have to reread the other books in the series first, I think. I remember the basics of the world, but need a refresher on all the characters.

Blurb: AURA’s offices have been quiet since the mage tower incident—as quiet as they can be for an agency dedicated to policing holes in reality—and the department heads have been free to turn their attention back to mundane matters. The return to quiet bureaucracy gives AURA’s Director of Research, Kai Hiltas, the time to turn his energy to a new issue—a young drow with unusual and dangerous powers named Ryld.

Though his shadows always lurk at the edges of his vision, Ryld does his best to live peacefully and not let them hurt anyone. He has his work, his apartment and a succession of minders assigned by AURA who are, ostensibly, there to keep him safe in his new world and to prevent him from causing any scenes with his shadows. Most of the time, the arrangement works. But one disastrous incident causes Ryld’s minder to leave him unattended and lost—the precise thing he was hired to prevent.

To replace the faithless minder, Kai suggests Hank, a half-goblin accountant recently in the middle of a string of terrible luck, while Kai works out how best to get Ryld the magical training he so desperately needs. For his part, Hank truly likes Ryld and insists he would be happier working as Ryld’s companion rather than as a controlling minder.

As Hank and Ryld slowly come to terms with sharing space—and eventually more—Kai’s search for a teacher for Ryld takes them out west on the invitation of the Elvenhome’s aelfe queen and right into the lap of inter-elven feuds, ancient prejudice, conspiracies and trafficking rings. What should have been a pleasant visit soon turns into more than even forever-scheming Kai can handle.

Author: Dakota Brown
Length: 226 pages

Genre: Romance / Urban Fantasy / RH

Notes: I'm behind in this series. I have really been enjoying it and I'm really glad that it's now complete!

Blurb: This is the fifth and final book in The Pizza Shop Exorcist series!

Birthdays, marriages, career changes, deaths; these are the pivotal moments almost everyone can relate to. Too bad all of mine seem to be centered around demons.

When my parents died at the hands of a demon, I quit doing exorcisms. I hoped to be finished with the creeping darkness below. But it wasn't done with me. I tried to settle into life at my family's pizza parlor and, slowly, became content with the relatively carefree life it offered and the companionship of my vibrator. Then Darius, a friend from my old life, barged his way into my new one with an exorcism he couldn't handle.

Now I'm hip deep in hellhounds, my heart willingly bound to several demons, a vampire, a half-angel, and a mage. My main mode of transportation these days? A demonic horse that I love dearly.

Unfortunately, the forces of Heaven and Hell are conspiring against me. I'm tired of their shit, and my men and I are ready to go on the offensive. The last thing this world needs is an apocalypse and, to keep us all safe, I'll do anything in my power to defeat both angels and demons once and for all, even if it defeats me in the end.

Author's Note: I promise I love these characters as much as you do. If you get to a certain point and want to throw your kindle—don't they're expensive—and call me a monster, that's fair, but keep reading. I promise you'll get a HEA.

This book is intended for mature audiences. 18+ readers only! It contains language and sexual situations. This is a medium burn reverse harem where the girl gets all the guys. Why Choose? Harem members added as series progresses.
