What's on the Reading Radar? #TBR #WishList

What am I doing? Well, I'm not on vacation anymore, which was half taken up with me being sick. Great but not great, if you know what I mean. :)

Next week I will be jumping back into the last third of Constant rewrites. I got some ideas of some additional content I want to add to the very end, but I won't know if it will work until I get to a certain place.

This week I wrote a couple of chapters on Assassin's Retirement. Every time I think I know where it's going, something happens. Not that I'm complaining. It's one of the things I enjoy about writing by the seat-of-my-pants. For instance, last weekend I thought the story would be in the home stretch with some 20k words to go. But about Tuesday, I couple of ideas came to me about what the story needed but would also add more words. On one hand, I'm about ready to switch up the story. On the other hand, the story isn't finished and I'm struggling to find where I should stop it.

And there is always the books to read!

Title: Spare Parts
Series:
Author: TJ Land
Length: 333 pages
Publisher: NineStar Press (October 22, 2018)

Genre: Romance / Sci-Fi / Poly / Gay

Notes:

Blurb: Ugh, organics are revolting. Damp, inefficient, prone to leaking—everything Meteor despises. The last thing he and his accomplices Gloss and Spike want to do is set foot on a planet infested with billions of the horrible things. To add insult to injury, to escape detection while on Earth, they’ve no choice but to disguise themselves as the aforementioned moist bipeds. The indignity is almost more than his circuits can bear.

But there’s no alternative. For centuries, Meteor, Gloss, and Spike were nothing more than three of thousands of robots programmed to serve the whims of a hyper-advanced intergalactic species. If they want to avoid being recaptured by their old owners, they need to find a weapon hidden millennia ago in Earth’s soil. Meteor’s ambitions, however, don’t stop at merely escaping capture. He’s got big plans for the species that built him to be a slave. Big, violent plans. And it’ll all work out perfectly provided he can keep reminding the other two of what they’re on Earth to do.

What they’re not there to do is have fun. But flighty, excitable Spike quickly forgets that.

What they’re not there to do is learn about kissing. But cold, analytical Gloss finds his attention drawn that way regardless.

What they’re not there to do is become human. But Meteor has spent several hundred years bored out of his mind and humans…well, damp as they are, they’re not boring. Which is a problem, because Meteor can’t afford distractions—not with their owners searching the galaxy for them and getting closer every day.

Title: Stallion Mage: Secret Omega
Series:
Author: A.O. Spade
Length: 155 pages
Publisher:

Genre: Romance / Paranormal / Fantasy / Gay

Notes: This is different and sounds intriguing... and I read it yesterday. I'm not a fan of epithets (which this story uses a ton of) but the storyline is interesting. No instalust, no instalove, and the mage is not an incapable omega. I started the second book last night after I finished the first. There really isn't any romance either and I'm thinking that will come, maybe, in the last book of this trilogy. There is only one POV and that has worked fine so far.

Blurb: Book 1 of a 3-part gay mpreg shifter series set in an Stone Age fantasy world.

In a tribe of stallion shifters, Alvarr is smaller and more delicate than the rest of his tribe-brothers. But he is also a rare stallion mage, a male shifter who can perform magic... a talent only found in mares.

The other tribe members mistrust Alvarr and his powers over the earth. Though the Elder stallions view the mage as something precious, they are the only ones who value him. Even the strong, commanding lead stallion, Laren, keeps his distance.

The leader's rejection of the smaller mage hurts, until the Time of Mating brings them together. Two nights in the woods change the course of their lives forever.

This story contains M/M shifter romance / sex scenes. Mature readers only.

Yet when Lord Royan dies, Valde is left without purpose. He finds himself following his last target, Raneld Orley, the youngest son of the new king. He doesn’t understand why, nor does he understand why he alternately rages against and is drawn to the oh-so-perfect prince. On their one literally smoldering night together, Smith, stupidly besotted, revealed his true name—a demon’s greatest vulnerability. When Hashim didn’t return the favor, then split the next morning with no word? Message received, loud and clear: Thanks but no, thanks.

Although Hashim had burned to return Smith’s trust, it was impossible. The wizard who conjured him holds his true name in secret, and unless Hashim discovers it, he’ll never be free.

When their attraction sparks once more, the two unite to search for Hashim’s hidden name—which would be a hell of a lot easier if they didn’t have to contend with a convention full of food-crazed vampires on the one day out of the century they can consume something other than blood.

But if they fail, Hashim will be doomed to eternal slavery, and their reignited love will collapse in the ashes.

Luckily Smith is the guy who gets shit done. And Hashim is never afraid to heat things up.

Author: Meyari McFarland
Length:
Publisher: MDR Publishing (November 22, 2018)

Genre: Romance / paranormal / Shifter / Gay /

Notes: The font on this cover was hard to read. I'm interested in this book because Betas are overlooked.

Blurb: Adrian loved his sister Michi but her marriage was going to drive him crazy. Once she was off on her way to Montana to start a new shifter pack with her mate Sal, he could relax. Heck, once he got them all off to the reception he'd be done.

Dealing with international smuggling rings and Evan's threats was simpler than sorting out what to do about their rising attraction to each other.

The question wasn't could they be good together.

It was what divided Beta from Alpha? And did it matter with so much on the line?

Adrian is a MM shifter romance that features past partner abuse, attempted murder, smuggling rings and wolf packs with All The Kids. These queer shifters falling in love is a guaranteed winner. Don't miss out—get Adrian now!

What is on the Reading Radar? #TBR #WishList

What am I up to? Well, I took some time off. I still have a couple of days but thought I would go ahead and make today's Reading Radar. I already missed last week's partially due to being sick on my vacation. I'm feeling better now. :)

I'm a mood reader and when I got ill, what I wanted to read changed from what I had planned to read. :D

Title: Going Rogue
Series:
Author: Kass Barrow
Length: 189 pages
Publisher:

Genre: Romance / Sci-Fi / Gay /

Notes: Honestly, I'm still on the fence about this one since it mentions one MC is ace and at the end it says erotic romance.

Blurb: He came to save mankind. Falling in love wasn't part of the equation.

Inside every human on this planet is a genetic time bomb that’s already started ticking. A gene planted inside of us seven million years ago by a being known as the Caretaker has mutated causing many of today’s common disorders, first in the brain and then in other less complex organs. Next it will spread to the reproductive system, leading to the eventual annihilation of mankind.

The only one who can save us is the Caretaker’s son.

From a race of near-immortal asexuals, the Caretaker’s son must adopt human form to fulfil his mission and save our race. Having studied humans from afar all of his life, the Caretaker’s son is excited at the prospect of his brief visit to Earth, but once in human form he is subjected to the full gamut of human emotions—something he is ill-equipped to cope with—and that’s when things start to unravel.

He isn’t meant to fall in love.
Especially not with a human male.

Blake Denby doesn’t believe in extra-terrestrials. He believes in hot sex and pizza, followed by more hot sex. When an intriguing stranger turns up at the hotel where he works as receptionist, all he can think about is sharing hot sex, pizza and more hot sex with the gorgeous boy with the piercing blue eyes.

They say be careful what you wish for, but never has it been more true. The Caretaker’s son can only maintain his transient human form for a limited time and then he must return home. As his and Blake’s lives become inexorably entangled, their growing attraction to each other can surely only lead to heartbreak and could ultimately affect the survival of the entire human race.

Can love find a way against such odds?

GOING ROGUE is an erotic gay romance of approx. 40,000 words.

What's on the Reading Radar? #TBR #WishList

What am I up to? This week I worked on Constant, trying to get to the end so I can take a two week vacation. I have about 100 pages to go but the next couple of scenes are new content, so that last 100 is not going to go by fast. Though, I am excited that I'm in the final 1/3 of the book. :)

Today I was going to work on Assassins's Retirement, but last night I woke up sick and now all I want to do is stare at the wall.  It's a good thing that this post was mostly finished and I only needed to add the links and commentary. Ugh.

Blurb: Shadowing the Light
“Everybody has their own agenda. Everybody.”

Hunted for the unique blood that runs through his veins, half-angel, half-demon Gabriel Sinclair lives without expectations. On the run from forces on both sides of an ancient conflict, he searches for strength and peace in a world which only seeks to use him.

When Gabriel is forced to stop running, assigned a team—and a mate—he doesn’t want, and reluctantly tasked with a mission, he must overcome obstacles both real and imagined. Otherwise, the world as he knows it, and the mate he’s reluctantly come to care for, may cease to exist.

“I will do as the Creator bids me. Always.”

Evander Ryan is special, and he knows it. The final handcrafted immortal warrior for the light, he is the Creator’s greatest masterpiece. For fifty-eight years, he’s lived his life in black and white, coddled by his Maker, while leading his team to countless victories against their enemies. Those fights were easy. Working with a new, uncooperative mate who sees the world in shades of gray? Less so.

As Evander’s eyes are opened to the existence of light warriors who are not good, dark warriors who are, and the wider world of supernatural beings, he learns nothing is as he thought it was, and his mate isn’t who he thought he was either. Maybe there’s something to be said for not always following the rules. . .
