The Valespian Pact is on Sale! #sale #thevalespianpact #spaceopera #upcomingrelease #lgbtqia

I've been a bit neglectful with posting updates on Cherish (The Valespian Pact, 4) book release. It's December 1st!

Sorry for the late news. It seems I got everywhere else but here.

Anyhow, in anticipation of Cherish's release, I placed Alpha Trine, Striker, and Constant on sale until December 3rd. You can find the sale at Smashwords and Amazon. Although, Amazon will take some time since I entered the adjusted pricing this morning. Sometimes they take the 72 hours they warn you about and other times it's updated in hours. I can't give an educated guess, just keep clicking the refresh button and wait.

Since I haven't posted anything about Cherish here yet, enjoy the excerpt!

Saving a life can change the course of history.

Destin is torn away from his chicks and his bonded when the Terrens invade Aries 7. Experimented on in Terren labs, and made to work their mines, the GyrFalconi struggle to survive. Destin becomes their caretaker, endeavoring to save as many as possible, despite the emotional toll. Amidst the battle for survival, the universe shines on him and he bonds with not one but four people who give him a reason to keep fighting. When Valespia sends its Legions to the GyrFalconi’s aid, Destin and his bonded are eventually freed, only to face new cruelties from their own people.

Freedom comes with its own trials, though, as a divide forms in GyrFalconi society between the winged and the wingless. Destin and his bonded are given a chance at true happiness and they keep what they claim, no matter what.

Tags: The Twenty-Year War where Terrens really mucked things up, so many hatchlings, Love not Lust (yes, using caps there seemed necessary), survivors, bisexual characters, all the cute hatchlings, talking to spirits, low heat, protective chantelle, evil empress, courageous stags, polyamorous, Destin keeps collecting bonded, avian species screech... a lot, non-human ace spectrum characters, found family, underestimated batore, so many stags, Mar'Sani mentor, did I mention the cutest chicks ever?

CHERISH is the fourth book in the award-winning Valespian Pact series. Trigger warnings can be found in the Author’s Note. Please download a sample of this book or use the Look Inside feature. 196,000 words.

Excerpt

Invasion

Dashing tears from his eyes, he [Destin] finished packing a small but heavy satchel. Alaina and Paxx waited for him in the receiving room holding large, overstuffed bags. At least they were not flying any great distance. The door was open to the balcony and the sight beyond confirmed their reality like nothing else could. Transports large and small zipped between the tall spires of this residential quarter of Skylight. The buildings were hundreds of floors tall with every roost boasting a balcony or three for landing. Usually, municipal transports flew above the spires, but these originated from the base of the buildings where the personal transports were stored.

The aircraft were not the only traffic. GyrFalconi flew everywhere, either singly or in small flocks, and there was a lot of swerving and near collisions, the people too panicked to pay attention. A lead weight formed in Destin’s stomach and a sense of urgency whispered that they needed to hurry. At least his parents’ rookery was only a couple spires over.

“Stay close to me,” he warned. The fledglings’ eyes were round with dawning fear as they observed the chaos. Paxx and Alaina nodded vigorously.

Clutching the pack to his chest, Destin sprinted and leaped off the balcony, his wings spread as he tested the air for a wind to glide on while he waited for his fledglings to catch up. They carried more, so they dropped quicker and had to flap hard to reach him, their burdens clutched to their chests. Destin spiraled down to the building’s lower floors, hoping that the air there would be less travelled, and he was right. As long as they stayed above the storage levels, they would not cross many individual flyers.

A few minutes later, they reached his parents’ building. Destin searched for his mahen’s storage garage where she and his dahen would be waiting. All the bay doors were open and the interiors empty. He did not need to read the labels, since his mahen, Akela de la Zudora, stood in the opening to her bay watching for them. Her golden-brown feathers were streaked with a darker brown that made her look severe when her feathers were clapped tight to her crown. Her brown-ringed black eyes held a wealth of worry as well as a touch of fear, which abated when her gaze landed on them.

Destin circled around behind his fledglings and made them land first. Both immediately went to Akela when their feet touched the floor. She wrapped them in a calming embrace as she clicked her nose-plate to theirs. His dahen, Imrie, rushed from the transport when Destin set down.  Imrie’s long, sweeping gray-tipped pink feathers were ruffled in the strong breeze that pushed into the bay. The pink contrasted beautifully with his ebony skin. Of all the Aries collectives, Destin thought his dahen’s feather coloring the prettiest. His own were red feathers dusted with the broody black of Aries 1. When he was much younger, he’d wished he had the pretty pinks of Aries 4 like his da. Destin had outgrown such vanities and he was content with his coloring, though he still thought the red and black was somber.

Imrie grabbed his face and clicked his hard yellow nose-plate against Destin’s. “Where is Dena?” he asked softly enough that the chicks did not hear.

Destin refused to answer, not wanting to bring to the fledglings’ attention that he and their mahen were at odds. Imrie’s blue eyes narrowed with comprehension, and Destin did not envy the dressing down that his dahen would give Dena when he saw her next.

His parents’ personal transport was a modest five-person pipit. Glancing inside, food stores were crammed into every available space, leaving just enough room in the back for Destin’s fledglings. They would be holding their overstuffed burdens in their laps since there was no other room to store the bags.

“I think we can make room for you,” Mahen said, coming up behind him. But they could not and still eat. There were questions about whether the sky-cities receiving refugees would have enough foodstuff to feed everyone. Destin would not have his family going hungry when there was a seat for him on another transport.

“Dena made arrangements for me,” he replied. Akela pursed her lips, sweeping her gaze over him and the fledglings as if to say, ‘yes, my son, I can see the accommodations your bonded has made.’ He forged on. “Speaking of, they are waiting on me. I am already several minutes late.”

His chicks made frantic noises. They were all talk about building a nest of their own, but here they were, not wanting to be separated from him. It warmed Destin’s heart more than it should have. Perhaps Dena was correct, and he was holding onto the fledglings too tightly. He wrapped each chick in his arms, reminded of how much larger they were when he tilted his head up so they could click their nose-plates against his.

“Do what you are told and help your granden and granhen with what they need. They will rendezvous with your bondeds’ families. Together, they will all work to keep you safe.” Destin waited for them to nod before he stepped away.

“When will you and Dena be joining us?” Mahen asked, pushing the fledglings toward the transport.

“The de la Bao flock are meeting up with some of their extended family. I will make my way to you once we stop,” he replied, hoping that the fledglings did not notice he said nothing about their mahen. The fact was that he did not know what her plans were, especially after their argument.

Imrie pulled out his data pad and demanded Destin give him the location where he would end up.

“I will come and get you myself once we have settled Alaina and Paxx,” Akela stated, her expression telling him not to argue with her. Destin nodded, saying hurried farewells to his parents before sprinting to the open bay door and leaping into flight.

He was not exaggerating when he said he was late. He owed the neighbors many apologies when he arrived. They were kind, patient people but the stress of fleeing to safety could make anyone terse, especially when waiting on someone who delayed their safe departure.

The weight of his bag seemed heavier than before, which Destin was sure it was just in his mind. There were more individual fliers clogging the airways. With great care, he dodged a couple of near collisions before reaching the correct building. The bay door was open, and Destin pulled up from his dive to land on the edge… of an empty storage slot. He double checked the name and number to make sure he had arrived at the correct place. This was where he was supposed to meet up with the neighbors.

Destin stared at the bare floor, his mind stalled for a few precious seconds as he tried to comprehend what it meant. Again, he double checked the ID to make sure he was at the right location, and he was, but they were gone. They had left. He was only a few minutes late, but the bay was not even warm from the aircraft’s engine, so they had been gone much longer than he was late.

Had Dena cancelled his seat, thinking he would be travelling with her? He could not imagine the neighbors leaving without him. They were close friends of Destin’s and if they were leaving, they would have contacted him, and there were no waiting messages on the data pad. If Dena told them he did not need the seat, then why did she not say something to him? Did she forget since they had fought? Was—

Destin shook his head, trying to clear his mind. This was not the time to allow emotional turmoil to take over. He would broach the questions with her later, after he reached safety. He considered flying back to his parents’ bay, but they were probably gone already, and he could not waste the time. He would have to fly.

The Valespian Pact Rebranding

 Sooooo....

I did a THING.

I never thought I would rebrand The Valespian Pact for many reasons. I adore the covers made by Aisha Akeju but when I was surfacing for some premades I came across one that grabbed me and wouldn't let go. I had a very strict idea about what Princess Athena looked like and there she was. But if I bought the cover for her, then her book wouldn't match the rest of the series.

That cover took me on a journey and I am so happy with what came of it.

Watch this space for the reveal of the new covers for Alpha Trine, Striker, and Constant. :)

Alpha Trine Re-release! #alphatrine #valespianpact

I'm working to get my titles back out on the market. First up is Alpha Trine. So far, you can find it at Smashwords, Kobo, and Amazon. Other places will have Alpha Trine on their sites in about 72 hours, and the links for those can all be accessed through the Books2Read universal link.

I had to create a short blurb for Smashwords... which I found I was quite terrible at coming up with a catchphrase. I wrote a ton of possibilities and filled up a sheet of paper. What I ended up with was... well, if I think of something better, yeah, I'm changing it. LOL! Now I have to come up with a catchphrase for all my books.

Blurb: Has kidnapping Zeus ruined Dargon and Alpha's chance at love?

The sole survivor on a science vessel adrift in deep space, Zeus was adopted by the Emperor and Empress of the Mar'Sani, though he is both human and blind, and seen by most as unfit to join the royal family. Though they were able to repair his vision, Zeus does not trust his eyes, and the nobles of his parents' court refuse to ever trust a frail and treacherous human.

Dargon Kal-Turak, along with his symbiote and lover, Alpha, command one of the most dangerous ships in the stars. After narrowly escaping a trap, they dock in a space port to make repairs but find that the Psionics hunting them are closing in fast. In desperation they kidnap the port's master mechanic, unaware that the man they've brought on board is more than he seems and will bring far more upheaval to their ship, their lives, and the stars than any of them could have imagined.

**Alpha Trine is a 52k sci-fi romance. It was re-edited July 2018 and some concepts were expanded upon. Neither the plot nor characters were changed.

Alpha Trine Audiobook

Imagine Alpha Trine on audio.

I'm so freaking thrilled. I knew it was coming this year. I had to jot down a pronunciation guide for the narrator last fall.

Last month I had a small freak out because I had this thought that names were going to sound like gibberish and all the flaws in the prose would have this huge spotlight on it. And you gotta think that sometimes the narrator hits the pause button to ask himself, "What the hell?"

And then I got over it.

The audiobook would be what it would be and my worrying did absolutely nothing to help me. Then I promptly forgot about it until the other day when the publisher sent me my author copy.

I was so excited I couldn't sit still. I was like, "To hell with the editing! It can wait until tomorrow!" I grabbed the blanket I've been crocheting this winter and sat down to listen.

Briefly I was afraid I would begin to pick everything apart. "I should've used a different word choice." Or "I should've had the conversation go in this direction." Blah. Blah. Blah.

Nope. I was enthralled with hearing someone put a voice to the words that I wrote. My husband made fun of me because I giggled like a little girl every time the narrator first said Mar'Sani and Atlainticia and Canry and Ashari and Valdor and... you get the gist. I laughed at the jokes as if I heard them for the first time. I whooped when he nailed how Ton spoke to Dargon and... it was so Awesome to listen to. Alpha Trine was such a labor of love, and listening as a reader and not the author, I fell in love all over again.

Pencil in the date. The audiobook will be available at Audible, Amazon, and iTunes at the end of February.

Thank you for stopping by and reading!!

Alpha Trine News!

This is a day late going up on the blog. I had the winner's announcement for the Twin Flames blog tour yesterday and didn't want to overshadow the winners with other news I had received.

If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter or even Google+ you might have already seen the announcements of the finalists for the 2014 Rainbow Awards. Alpha Trine (The Valespian Pact, 1) is one of the finalist.

There were 525 submissions and $11,500 dollars raised for various charities. Of the submissions, 284 titles are being read by 172 judges right now to meet the December 8, 2014 deadline.

There are so many great books being evaluated and I'm humbled to be numbered among such talent. I'm felling a little out of my league but it's all good. Alpha Trine made the finals and that... I'm not really sure what to say. I struggle enough with how to respond to compliments that finding the proper words to express my gratitude eludes me sometimes. I simply wanted to write stories and share them. That's all. All of this *waves hand around dramatically* Is so overwhelming.

The category Alpha Trine is in:

Bisexual General Fiction
Alpha Trine by Lexi Ander
Best Bi Short Stories by Sheela Lambert
Cythera by Jo Graham
The River Within by Baxter Clare Trautman
The Stars Change by Mary Anne Mohanraj

Something else to note, Alpha Trine's cover made it to the 3rd round of the cover contest. Aisha Akeju is the cover artist and she is amazing. She also put together Striker's cover, which I adore. The other covers by Aisha that made the cover finals are:

176 - Falling for Forever (Aisha Akeju)
336 - Ink & Flowers (Aisha Akeju)
342 - Ice (Aisha Akeju)

Other fantastic artists from Less Than Three Press who also made the 3rd round are:

63 - Goblins (Ria Chantler)
19 - The Engineered Throne (Megan Derr)
17 - The Memory of Blood & Lotuses (London Burden)
337 - The Merman and the Barbarian Pirate (Julie Wright)

Make sure you vote for at least 3 of your favorites before October 18th!
Go vote here---> http://www.elisarolle.com/rainbowawards/covers.php

And finally, in case you missed the brief blog post, Alpha Trine made the 2014 Rainbow Awards Honorable Mention list. Click Here to view full article.

"Honestly this is one of the best books I've read this year. It is a rich, full world with rich, full characters. I couldn't have asked for a better sci-fi book. Sci-fi is one of the hardest (in my opinion) genres to write in, and it's rare (for me) that a story captures my interest so thoroughly."

Deadlines, Galley, and Edits Oh, My!

C.R.A.Z.I.N.E.S.S.

Not kidding. I'm surprised I can find my head with everything that is going on. This will probably read more like a newsletter. So much has been happening!

Earlier this month I submitted The Aurora Conspiracy to Less Than Three Press for their Keeping The Stars Running Anthology. I'm waiting to hear back from them, hoping they like it. I adore this short story but I'm biased.

I also submitted Ruby Red Booty Shorts & A Louisville Slugger. Hopefully I'll have some good news for this series in a few weeks. The second book in the series, Werewolf's Tale & A Druid's Sword, is finished and has been sitting on my hard drive collecting metaphorical dust. It needs some good editing... which I need to get to soon.

I received the galley for Twin Flames. The re-release date is scheduled for October 1st. I've been contacting places to host me for the blog tour. I have three spots left: October 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

London Burden designed the new cover for Twin Flames. I adore this cover. She's also forming the bookmark to match. Yay!

*Points Up* Did you see my new banner. Again, Breathless Design knocked it out of the ball park. She also made me some fantastic bookmarks. I think that I'll have like a series of them done for each re-release of different characters. We'll see what happens but I'm really stoked with what I have right now. No, I'm not going to show you--yet.

Swag, swag, and more swag. Pre-orders is you are going to GRL and wish to buy a paperback ahead of time. Look at the top, I have tab with the order form. :-)

Earlier this week I received Twin Flames swag that I ordered for the blog tour and for GRL. Since this series is Fantasy/Menage/M-preg, that's like a small-of-a-small niche in the M/M romance genre so I didn't go too crazy when I ordered non-paper swag. There will be a limited supply of real ceramic coffee cups for GRL. Closer to the blog tour date, I'll post pictures of the prizes that I have for the re-release. I'm really happy with the quality and will probably order something similar again for Songs of the Earth re-release.

Speaking of which, guess what was in my mailbox this morning??? The first round edits for Songs of the Earth

Color me tickled... and overwhelmed!!

And talking about GRL and swag. Y'all remember the sketches I did leading up to the release of Striker (The Valespian Pact, 2)? I picked out the best ones and asked Breathless Design  to help me make them into trading cards. I've decided I will continue to do character sketches and for each new Valespian Pact release. The best ones will be added to the trading card portfolio. I'm so excited to see where this project will go!

The lovely Aisha Akeju designed the fantastic covers for Alpha Trine and Striker. She also helped me with a bookmark for Alpha Trine for GRL swag and I will see about having a bookmark made for Striker as well, but that will probably be a couple weeks away.

*waves arms vigorously in the air* it looks like Alpha Trine and Striker are going to audiobook. I'm not flippin' kidding. Dude! Dude! Dude! I just... you have no idea how freakin' stoked I am. *runs around in frantic circles*

Four days are left in the month and I'm pushing to have the first draft of Keeping Faith revised and edited by month end. Revising and editing doesn't always go as fast as anyone wants and the frustration level is high. It looks as if Keeping Faith has a home and so I want to get it there as soon as possible but not until I'm satisfied with the end result.

With Keeping Faith nearing completion, I wanted to put a fresh face to the first book, Playing For Keeps, which Breathless Design did fabulously. Fireborn Publishing has offered to host this little free story on their website. I actually need to write a blurb for this before I send Playing For Keeps over to them.

What's next, you ask?

Well, in the editing sphere, Werewolf's Tale & A Druid's Sword for one and the huge 100+k manuscript for Fate & Destinies.

For writing? I will be finishing the Sumeria's Sons series with Dragon's Eye and Releasing Chaos. I'm so very stoked to write these last two books. With everything that needs to happen to reach that HEA I'm switching it up a bit and you'll have not only Tristan's POV but Ushna and Nikita's as well. I'll also have a couple of free short stories that will fit between the books from side characters. So don't miss out on those either. If you weren't aware, I'm planning two offshoot series, Sumeria's Magi and Sumeria's Children. ^_^

And if there is enough time before the end of the year, start writing Bespoken (The Valespian Pact, 3). The next books of this series will be written close together and somewhere in there I'll have to fit writing the rest of the I.O.N. series as well.

Are you as exhausted as I am??

August has been a busy month, a fantastic month, and an exhausting month. And GOOD, so very, very good. I cannot tell you how thankful I am to be this busy.

Love you guys! Thank you for making the next couple of months as busy as they are.

Thank you for stopping by and reading!!

GRL Book Signing and Pre-orders

If you're going to the 2014 GRL Chicago then you've probably heard of the pre-sales that many authors and publishers are doing. Holy cow. As a reader, I'm thrilled with the pre-sales because book fairs are where I purchase most of my LGBT paperbacks. I LOVE autographed books plus at the book fairs they can be purchased at a discount. What is not to love about that?

After much consideration, I will be doing pre-sales as well, even though by book title list is that ---> <--- big. If you are going to GRL Chicago in October, until September 20th you can pre-order Alpha Trine and Striker from me and then be able to pick them up at the retreat.

I will bring limited stock to GRL to sell at the normal book fair price.

On a separate note, Less Than Three Press is having a END-OF-SUMMER SALE! GET 20% OFF ALL LT3 STOCKLT3 is throwing an end-of-summer sale! It's not about winning because I doubt that I will win any of the categories I've been nominated in. It's about being noticed. That something I wrote touch someone and when asked "which one did you like?" the book, the title, or the characters were what they thought of.

It humbling and touching and so very hard for me to find the words to express a simple thank you when I want it to mean so much more.

I was nominated for seven (7) categories.

Best Title: Ruby Red Booty Shorts & A Louisville Slugger

Best Alternate Universe: Alpha Trine

Best Established Couples: Dreams of the Forgotten - Tristan and Ushna

Share Your Muse Blog Hop & Giveaway

Muse

The Muses (Greek: Μοῦσαι, moũsai) in Greek mythology, poetry and literature, are the goddesses of the inspiration of literature, science and the arts. They were considered the source of the knowledge, related orally for centuries in the ancient culture that was contained in poetic lyrics and myths.

I remember confiding in a friend right before I subbed Twin Flames to a publisher that I was afraid that I only had that one story in me. It had been a very long time since I'd written anything for pleasure and I was extremely rusty. A couple of times I wonder what the hell was I doing?

Now I wonder WHY I worried. I have more plotlines taking up space that I swear I have writing ADD. The worse culprit of this distraction... er... inspiration are picture prompts. I'm addicted to writing them. I have written three this year. The Awakening of Amanra for the LGBT Fantasy Group in February. For the Love Has No Boundaries event, Playing for Keeps (Unshakeable #1) in April, and then Fated in June.

All of these I plan to do follow up stories, among the others that I'm currently writing. Lord help me if I come across any more story prompts because I really can't help myself. I'm not a speed typer. You would think that with as much as I type I would be a speed demon but noooo, I'm average at best which is quite frustrating at times.

You would think that with as easily swayed by story prompts as I am that I would be crazed by publisher calls for submission. I'm not, not really. I think I only came across one that I was dying to write. It was about Mechs which is due at the end of this month. I chose to put that story idea on the back burner for now and continue my current project, Striker (The Valespian Pact #2). Hard. Hard. Hard, guys. I'm telling you I wanted to cry because I didn't have enough time.

I wrote only one prompt story last year which grew and evolved into the series, The Valespian Pact. KimE wrote this prompt:

"Intergalactic mm romance between a human space mechanic genius and an alien that morphs to be "human" when they mate. Have a way for the "alien" to be able to reproduce despite being male without the aid of technology for the pregnancy itself. Maybe technology was involved in the past and they "evolved" to be able to continue the alien species? HEA of course. Maybe a start of a series? Up to the author. I like series."

And then Alpha Trine was born.

Today I am giving a way a paperback copy of Alpha Trine. Just leave a comment and names will be drawn at the completion of the blog hop. Winner to be announced on the 15th!

For now, I'll leave you with an excerpt!

"Amlyn, where is your pride, your family?" He glimpsed a deep sorrow edged with vulnerability in her eyes. He considered what he knew and had been told. The Catalani did not break eye contact, proud and sure.

"Are you willing to fight by my side?" he asked. "I believe my brothers' vessel to be under siege, possibly by the people who have been tracking this ship. Rhee and I are going over to assist my family in any way we can. If luck is with us, we will shed the blood of our enemy, free The Gorgon, and ensure the safety of the Fal'Amoric for another day. What say you?"

Amlyn looked at the five bodies laid out in the corridor. They would be jettisoned into space when the Oethra 7 disengaged from Mestor's warship. One Dire D'Noss and four deadly Quell hounds had been dispatched by Rhee. The Dire D'Noss was two and a half meters tall, powder white with long green and red antennae protruding from its brow. Extra-large, luminous yellow eyes stared blankly into space and its mouth of razor blade teeth lay slack in death. It carried two huge blades, one gripped in a three-fingered hand, too slow to draw before Rhee rained down death.

The Quell hounds were more distressing than the Dire D'Noss. They were the lavender of an early dawn, four legged with humanoid eight-fingered hands instead of hooves or paws on all four appendages. A yellow-plated exoskeleton covered the face with deep-set red eyes, an extended snout, and needle-thin teeth. Despite being called hounds, the Quell were not animals but psionics adept at creating illusions. Zeus suspected they were to act as imposters for his brothers, and he could not have been happier he was immune.

 "What is your answer, Amlyn?"

She turned her palms up, her face set with steely resolve. "I would serve a Mar'Sani prince in the destruction of our mutual enemy."

With a nod of his head, the Orion unshackled Amlyn. Zeus quickly donned his jacket of chimera scales he had picked up from the engine room, tested the straps on his dual swords, and checked to make sure the Taser would slide easily from his knee-high boots. He watched Amlyn equip. Her skills were too valuable to be locked away, but even with the truce, he would be wary around her. Dargon stepped in front of him, holding a pair of soft grip-gloves used for securely grasping surfaces when climbing. Zeus tucked them into his belt.

"I expect you back within the hour." Dargon's lip lifted slightly in challenge, baring a sharp, hooked fang.

"I will if I can." Zeus did not reach up to kiss him. Leaving Dargon and the Oethra 7 was hard enough. More physical contact would only serve to distract him. Their gaze held, silent words bouncing back and forth between them. He did not know what would happen once he stepped through the airlock. He was walking blind into the hostile situation. He worried for his brothers, for his lover, and the Fal'Amoric. Holding the gaze of those vibrant green orbs, he knew he would do whatever it took to get back to Dargon and see the mission through to the end.

Breaking eye contact, his pursed lips kept him from making promises he could not keep.

Dargon grabbed Zeus's hand as he turned to walk away. Dargon loomed large over Zeus, his countenance formidable. "I will track you across the universe if you do not come back."

"I am counting on it," Zeus whispered, voice full of gravel. Straightening his shoulders, he walked over to the airlock. "Rhee, Amlyn, it is time," he barked.

Free Story Download and Other News

Fated, the Scottish bear shifting laird is now available for download. You can find the story at this link. ---> http://www.mmromancegroup.com/110465 Yeah!  Don't forget about the prequel that you can read here --->http://heartsonfirereviews.com/?p=22519

After I finish up with Striker, I will be working on the full story for Roi and Ewen plus conducting research for the sequel to Playing For Keeps. Came up with a series name, Unshakeable. I thought that fit the guys perfectly.

Striker is really close to being finished. I thought that I only had 10k more to go at the end of August and it has turned out longer than I thought. 10k turned to 20k turned to 25k... I'm determined to wrap up everything for Dargon, Alpha, and Zeus. It seems the story doesn't give a flying hoot that I gave myself a deadline to finish. A deadline that I'm a week behind on. I kept putting off blogging because of it. I had this guilty feeling every time I started to put together a blog.  That, "you could be working on the next chapter and not fooling with a blog post," niggle.

Also in the Ander's News Bucket, I will be giving out two print copies of Alpha Trine this month. One on  the 11th at Blak Rayne's blog and the other on the 30th at Sid Love's review site.  Ebook copies will be won as well on the 15th when I participate in the Muse Blog Hop. I'll have reminders on the blog the day of the events and make sure to post the winner announcement.

I know this is a bit short but I have to get back to Striker. I really, really want to get this wrapped up! Send me good thoughts that hopefully include spiked java and chocolate.  :)

Cover Reveal

I'm a little behind revealing these covers. I have been working on the edits for Fate which is due to Jen at GR on the 15th and edits for Alpha Trine.

Less Than Three sent me the covers for the both Alpha Trine and the second book in the series, Striker. I'm in love with these covers for The Valespian Pact Series.

In L.O.V.E.

Can you blame me? Just don't tell my husband. :)

If it has been a while since you have stopped by let me catch you up. I started on book two of the Valespian Pact series and got to thinking.

So much positive fee back had come in for Alpha Trine that I was both please and shocked. Why? I didn't think many people would enjoy the book. The story was different, sent in a universe in the future, lots of alien species, it had some intrgue, some actions and the loved were three dissimilar individuals (putting that mildly). I figured only a very small number of people would like something like that... until I began to receive fan mail. Everyone wanted to know when book two would be out. O_O

When I sat down to write Striker (at the time I was calling it Striker, Lord of Thunder) I always reread the book(s) before as a refresher. In a conversation with a friend I wondered if a publisher would take a series when the first book had already been released and I was pointed to LT3.

I wrote a letter to their editor with the inquiry if they would be interested in this crazy kind of series and half way through I had this insane idea to ask them about Alpha Trine as well.

Really, what could it hurt?

They flippin' said, Yes! It was awesome.

The only bad news is that when I had planned to have Striker finished and released changed.

The delay may also be a good thing for two reasons. 1) I picked up the emergency prompt over at GoodReads for the historical Scottish Laird. Working on that has place me a little behind but I should be finished with Fate and have the story turned in by the July 15th deadline. One more read through on the Alpha Trine edits before I send back to LT3.

2) The second reason was there were a couple of scenes I needed resolved in my head before I tried to put them on paper. That knot is know untangled. If you look over to the right, I have found a tracking meter so you can see where I am on my projects. I think they are pretty awesome.

Thank you for stopping by and taking at look at the covers. In the next six weeks I'll be posting little snippets of Striker to tease you!  Have a great weekend!

A quick announcement before we get to the spicy excerpt. Alpha Trine, book one of The Valespian Pact, which was accepted by Less Than Three Press now has a release date of September 25th!  Yay!!! The new cover will be coming soon. I love cover reveals. The blurb was finalized today.

Blurb for Alpha Trine:

The sole survivor on a science vessel adrift in deep space, Zeus was adopted by the Emperor and Empress of the Mar'Sani, though he is both human and blind, and seen by most as unfit to join the royal family. Though they were able to fix his vision, Zeus does not trust his eyes and the nobles of his parents' court refuse to ever trust a frail human.

Dargon Kal-Turak, along with his symbiote and lover Alpha, command one of the most dangerous ships in the stars. Narrowly escaping a trap, they dock in a space port to make repairs but find that the Psonics hunting them are closing in fast. In desperation they kidnap the port Master Mechanic, unaware that the man he brought on board is more than he seems, and will bring far more upheaval to their ship, their lives, and the stars than any of them could have imagined.

Warning: this story contains a threesome relationship

I can't wait!!

A couple of things to note. If you haven't read my work before I have several free reads. Up at the top there are 2 tabs with free reads and off to the left you can see another free story, The Awakening of Amanra. All three are available for download at All Romance (just click here).

So I was looking at my back list wondering which sexy excerpt I wanted to use for the Hop. I chose my favorite one from Sumeria's Sons, Songs of the Earth. I LOVE this part.

Excerpt:

Corey gave out the day's orders and met Ushna, Gregori, and me in my office to make plans for our growing numbers. The room felt a little small with all four of us there. Gregori took the love seat by the door, lounging comfortably. I sat behind the desk, with Ushna and Corey in the only other chairs in the room. It felt as if we were outgrowing everything quickly.

"Where are we going to get the money for the temporary housing and salaries?" Ushna asked, and I knew he wasn't going to like my solution.

"My inheritance." I waited for the fallout.

"No." Ushna scowled, shaking his head. "You will not use your inheritance for this."

I raised my brows at him. "That would be my choice. We certainly cannot support a tribe on our salaries."

"Why can't you use the king's treasury?" I think Corey was trying to divert the argument everyone could feel brewing.

"There are several reasons. One, I'm not a king. Two, I don't know if there is a treasury any more or how to access it. Three, my brother is in line to the throne which means this tribe is my responsibility alone. Besides, am I the only one who remembers that I told the council to stick it? I can't imagine them rushing in to help me any time soon."

Ushna crossed his arms and stared at me. I knew he wanted to contradict me, but he knew my points were valid. "I don't like it," he groused. "You're of royal blood and look at how you've been treated."

There was something more here with Ushna I was missing. This wasn't about money. "Ushna, speak your mind. I may be of the royal line, but it doesn't mean the council has to kowtow to my wishes after I've threatened to kill anyone they send here without my express permission. They have ruled the Lycans for a very long time, and I don't see them giving up their power because of who I am. You know I'm right. Please tell me what is wrong. I can't read your mind."

Ushna flicked a look at Corey, weighing whether or not he'd reveal what was bothering him in front of the captain of the guard. "All my life I've watched while you've been disregarded, ignored. You were invisible to them. I watched as you made suggestions to Nathan and Theodore. They took the acclaim for it, and not once did they or anyone else recognize your contributions. Half the ideas that came from Theo were yours. Nathan doubled your family's estates after consulting with you and none of it went to your inheritance. You made the Enkidu Tribe what it is today and you got nothing out of it."

I watched Ushna struggle with the anger he felt on my behalf. He hadn't said anything when I was with Theo. Not until now, when he felt I was again being taken advantage of. I glanced over at Corey and he briefly bowed his head before stepping out of the office, Gregori on his heels.

I got up and rounded the desk to straddle the lap of my lover. Goddess, I loved being able to call him that. "Ushna." He looked at me with those bi-colored emerald-brown eyes with such fierce emotion, and I drank the look in, a responding heat swirling through my blood and pooling low in my groin. "As a part of the Janick household, it's my duty to help my brother keep it strong. As the partner of an alpha, my duty was to the welfare of the tribe." I ran my fingers through his blue-black hair, relishing the feel of it. "Those of us who truly serve don't do it for accolades, but out of the desire, the need to be of use. I didn't do it to be noticed."

Ushna brushed my cheek with his knuckles. "You did great things, Tristan. You should've been recognized."

I turned my head slightly and kissed the palm of his hand. "I was given the choice to be acknowledged, remember? But I turned down the position of alpha for Enkidu Tribe because I didn't want it." Ushna's eyes narrowed, a growl escaping him. My jeans became tight and uncomfortable and I resisted the urge to readjust myself. "Ki believes there was an enchantment on me that concealed me from the Gods. Maybe the enchantment hid me from others, as well." Slowly I leaned down until my mouth was hovering over Ushna's lips, my eyes on his. "You saw me, Ushna, when no one else did. That's all that matters to me."

I brushed my lips gently across his. I wanted to devour him but I held back. I'd never cared about recognition. I'd always done what needed doing and been content. But he had known. Ushna had seen me for who and what I was when everyone else had looked through me and it was a fucking turn-on knowing he had watched me. He knew me like no one else.

Ushna licked the seam between my lips, groaning, and it set something off in me. I wanted to bite him, claim him, and bind him to me, making him fully, completely mine. I caught Ushna's tongue and sucked it into my mouth, absorbing, tasting. My hands tightened in his hair, holding him in place while I plundered his mouth, taking everything he gave me, everything he offered. I wanted it all. I wanted all of him.

The unraveling of the binding had affected the predator within me, and he was no longer easy or docile. His true dominant nature had been freed, his Lupe side wasn't tied down, and his awareness was amplified. Over the last few days, I'd felt him becoming more active, looking out of my eyes at others. Being near Ushna, his touch, his scent had called to something deep within both of us. The predator wanted to mark and bond with Ushna, make him completely ours, and I had known that was something we could never have. Ushna belonged to Brian, but the beast didn't care, he wanted what he wanted, and it was so hard to fight him when bonding to Ushna was what I wanted as well.

The smell of Ushna's arousal had drawn the predator forward and he pressed against me. My fingers grew sharp claws, my vision became shades of gray, and my mouth ached as teeth reshaped themselves. I knew I hadn't completely changed into my Lupe form because I still had skin and other than my teeth, my face felt the same. I had tried to push the predator back but I could feel Ushna's hardness under me, pushing against me, inflaming me with uncontrollable desire. I was unraveling in this need to wrap myself around him for all eternity, and I fought it.

I wanted to mark him. Bite him. Drink him. Make him my own. And I fought it because he wasn't mine to take. I couldn't divide his soul, so I fought to do what was best for him. I'd love him for this life time. That's all I'd have with him. I'd make it the best life possible and if the Gods were merciful, when I died this time, they'd put me truly to rest, because I didn't think I could live an eternity of reincarnations without him. Without his touch. My lover. My Ushna.

I pulled back from the kiss, my breathing ragged, eyes closed as I struggled to retreat from the primal force within me that screamed for control. Uttu had explained my royal ancestors had had exceptional control over their form, able to change just pieces of themselves at will when needed. I wanted to give a morbid laugh because I was having no such luck as I wrestled for control; want and desire against logic and reason.

"Look at me." Ushna's voice was hoarse and husky. I didn't want him to see my white-less eyes with their pure black irises. I didn't want him to see the weakness in me as I was barely balanced between man and beast. "I said, look at me!" he snapped.

My eyes popped open and I looked down into his lust-filled gaze, his lips curled into a snarl, his chest rumbling in a protracted low growl. My blood raced at the sound. My skin stretched and tingled. I was perched on the edge. If I took him now, I'd lose control, so I did the only thing I could. I gave control to him with two rasped words. "Fuck me!"

Ushna's hands slid down to my ass, cupping me painfully tight as he stood and carried me over to the desk. He dropped me roughly on the surface, scattering everything on top as his fingers fumbled at my fly. I gripped the edge of the desk, my claw-tipped fingers digging in, scoring the mahogany wood. Ushna released a nasty snarl of frustration as he tore off my jeans, flinging them across the room. He hooked his arms under my knees and I rose up on my elbows, our mouths smashing together in a consuming, ravaging kiss, filling the room with ferocious, deep-chested rumbles. Ushna pressed his hardness against my ass, my perineum, grinding his denim-covered shaft against me. It was electrifying, the magical static rolling across my skin, raising the hair on my body. I needed him in me now and I tried to lift my hips to grind back, needing pressure. He released a leg to grab me by the throat and slam me back onto the desk. The word, "Yes," escaped my lips. Goddess, I loved this roughness, the brutal way he touched me. I relished every fucking bruising grip, pressing into it, needing to feel it.

Ushna flipped my legs over his shoulders. I gripped the desk, claws gouging the surface, as he released himself from his jeans. He rubbed spit onto his flared head before he started to push into me. Ah, shit, my back involuntarily bowed and Ushna leaned harder into the hand at my throat as I fought the burn of his entry.

Ushna started to pull back.

"No!" I panicked and tightened my legs over his shoulders to keep him from pulling away. "No, don't stop!" I ground out, voice rough.

"I'm going to hurt you, babe. I need some lube." He was barely holding it together. In the shades of gray, I watched him look around. He was outlined in the purest white; it pulsed, matching my heart beat. Something about that stirred the beast in me, beckoned to me, commanded me to answer its call, and I couldn't. I couldn't let myself give up what little control I had.

Ushna grabbed the bottle of unscented lotion by the computer monitor, flicked the lid with a thumb, tipped the bottle, and squirted it on us. Air hissed through a mouth filled with too many teeth as the cool lotion spread over my hot skin. Throwing the bottle down, Ushna smeared the lotion over me and down the cleft of my butt cheeks before spreading it on himself. I couldn't wait and tried to impale myself on him. Ushna snarled at me in warning before he moved into me slowly. My head thrashed from side to side. I didn't need slow, I needed…

Ushna slammed into me and I released a howling moan of pleasure as he set a hard and fast rhythm. My hands ached as they gripped the desk, claw-tipped fingers notching the dark wood. I arched, rising into the fingers wrapped around my throat. Ushna shoved me down, his hand reflexively squeezing. Ah, hell, the pressure felt so fucking good on my neck as Ushna drilled into me, making me feel every glorious inch of him as he took me. The pure white outline around Ushna pulsed faster and faster as he spread a cheek of my ass, stretching my hole a little more, making me feel the pinch of the pull as his cock pounded into me.

Ushna released an animalistic rumble, baring his blunt, human teeth before he struck and bit me hard on my left pec. I smelled the blood, felt the pain, and relished the feel of him sucking and running his tongue over the bruised flesh. The door opened, someone walked in, and I reacted, pushing Ushna off me. I fell to the floor in a crouch between Ushna and the door, bellowing a roar at the intruder who was already retreating as I grabbed the leg of the nearest chair and threw it at the now closed door. The chair shattered and the door groaned in protest, but I barely noticed as an arm snaked around my waist, and a hand gripped my hair.

"I'm not fucking done with you yet," Ushna said roughly in my ear before he tossed me face down onto the desk and penetrated me from behind. I pushed back into him, needing more. Ushna's fist in my hair snapped my head back, bowing my back. Goddess, I still needed more. I whimpered as Ushna lifted my leg on top of the desk, opening me up, spreading me for him. He pegged my prostate every time he thrust, electrifying me, I was almost there, and that's when I felt it. The thumb Ushna dug into me as he powered into me with hard, deep thrusts caused a sharp twist of pain triggering a release so intense it made my chest seize and my breath stop. I spilled seed down the side of the desk as my orgasm caused me to clamp down on Ushna. The hand in my hair tightened and he ground his hips into my ass, yelling his release to the ceiling.

Ushna let go of my hair and I closed my eyes as I laid my sweaty forehead on the desk. My breathing was ragged and I trembled with aftershocks. My muscles felt liquid. My scalp tingled and I ached deliciously. I shuddered as Ushna pulled out and I still didn't move.

A tentative hand touched the small of my back. "Tristan, are you okay? Did I hurt you?"

I smiled into the wood of the desk, feeling the gouges I'd made in the surface. I tilted my head back and looked at Ushna so he could see my smile. There was fear in his eyes. I don't know if it was because I nearly lost control, or how he acted, but there was no need for it.

"Again?" I asked, grinning.

Relief spread across his face. "You're a fucking crazy man," he groused as he helped me up.

"I'm only crazy for you," I replied before I kissed him gently, languidly this time.

A timid knock sounded at the door. I looked around the demolished office; scarred desk, a broken chair, all kinds of crap on the floor and in none of it could I find pants. I did see my shirt, or what was left of it. I couldn't recall how it'd gotten torn to pieces. Ushna didn't look for his clothes. He cracked the abused door enough to see who it was.

Gregori laughed in the hall. "Man, you guys are a riot. It didn't matter where I went in this house. I could hear both of you clear as day." Ushna huffed in aggravation. "It's cool. I figured you'd need these. What the poor guard was trying to tell you before you chased him out was they're holding visitors at the gate. I went down to see who it was and spoke to Nathan and Neesie. The warriors won't let them on the property until Tristan gives the word."

"All right," I yelled, "let them in."

Peels of rancorous laughter came from Gregori, the pervert, before Ushna shut the door in his face. At least he'd brought us some clothes. I was going to use the torn shirt to clean up Ushna and myself before we got dressed, but he pulled a pack of handy-wipes out of the desk drawer. We tried to straighten the office a bit before we left but it was useless. It would need more time than we had at the moment to fix the mess we'd made.
