The Escape Master

What did I say I was doing today??  Ummmm, yeah.  I didn't do anything but write on book two of the ION series.  Yes, that was good but I was supposed to have this Zen conversation on the blog today. When I realized that I was running out of time, I ran around waving my hands in the air in an unsupervised panic. With good intentions, I sat down to dig up my saved research and was sidetracked a second time--by videos.

I am such a true sucker for action flicks. This is David Belle escaping some thugs in the movie 2005 D13.

Obviously, I'm all about the action and not the balancing philosophy of finding a way over your obstacle.  Essentially, that is what Parkour is about for some, finding a way through adversity. Not only finding a way through but doing it in such a way that calls the beauty of the movement. You do not punch through but glide over. (There that wasn't so hard was it? Go away evil twin.) How long has mankind been free running? It's not new the terrain just changed from forest and wilderness to urban areas.

Did you know my free short story is coming out tomorrow in the 2013 January Silver Shorts Anthology? It is my first Silver Short submission and definitely not my last.

Five Days Until the Release of Ruby Red

When I sat down and created the world of ION, I wanted an equalizer for humans—without making them into superheroes. Being the gamer that I am, lamented how it wasn't possible for people to do what the MC of video game, Assassin's Creed, could. My brilliant husband proved my wrong and sat me down in front of my first Parkour video.

Parkour, also known as free running, is practiced in urban areas. It is part martial art and part philosophy. It is amazing to watch the discipline, dedication, confidence and the fearlessness of these athletes. I would probably pee myself at some of the heights involved.

What I loved the most was you didn't have to be super human to practice it and exactly what I was looking for.

I've attached a 'how to' video which was really good at breaking down the steps and making the sport look more feasible to the average Joe. Tomorrow I will go into the origin of Parkour. How far back does the practice go??

What's going on this week?

I have two releases coming up this week.  One is a free read, New Beginnings, in the Silver Shorts on January 2nd and then Ruby Red will be released on the 5th. So starting on Monday, I will talk about Free Running and why I used it in the ION Series.

BUT today I wanted to share my favorite reads for 2013 since it is the end of the year.

This year has been and eventful year for me. As an avid reader, I read hundreds of books a year. This year I will top out around 370 books which is down from last years 531. I'm very much a mood reader and lean towards favoring fantasy/paranormal/sci-fi, however; I do read most everything.  I'm also a re-reader so some of these I have read twice, and one or two has suffered through a third read through.
