The battle to protect the Lycans from a vindictive Goddess waits on the horizon.

Tristan, Ushna, and Brian have meticulously prepared for the day they face Inanna and Marduk, but they must rely on their inner circle if they are to win the day. Ushna needs to embrace his destiny and be transformed by Tiamat. But he returns with a mind fractured by a primordial god’s consciousness and needs a firebird’s help, or he’ll be lost. If he is, so too is the balance Brian and Tristan sorely need.

Tristan has vowed to care for his ex-Flame who is doomed to forget more and more with each use of his new ability. Adding to his burden, Tristan must free the warriors stolen by the government and devise a trap for Inanna.

Brian fears nothing more than losing Ushna and Tristan again. To prevent that fate, he recklessly devises a preemptive strike, but his actions might not only cost him his life, but Stan’s as well.

As for the inner circle…

With them, Tristan might be victorious. Without them, Tristan will fail and the Lycans will fall to Inanna, who is determined to release a long-forgotten chaos monster and bring about the end of the world.

In nine days' time, Tristan will birth the heirs of the Seat of Zeev and life couldn't be more hectic or dangerous for him and Ushna.

Tristan has agreed to bond with Ushna, but there is still much to do. Returning to Tribe Enkidu puts everyone on edge, and Tristan is being stalked like prey. It doesn't help that he fights depression as he mourns the loss of Nikita, or that claiming his birthright becomes a battle of wills with the Elder Council. The pleading of his adoptive daughter only adds to the oppressive feeling.

Stumbling onto a secret prison while searching for Ushna leads Tristan to risk everything to free a lost God. But breaking the bond to his Twin Flame all those years ago has more repercussions than Tristan knew, and the assistance of a forgotten Goddess and a centuries-old lover may not be enough to save him.

Sumeria's Sons Re-branding #SumeriasSons

For a while now I have been planning and working with Natasha Snow on new covers for my Sumeria's Sons' series. Twin Flames was my first published book and holds a special place in my heart. From this story, I grew into the author I am today. The last book for the series came out a couple of years ago (Yay! I completed the series!),  and I wanted to give the series a face-lift. It's been on my mind since I've been plotting Nathan's story.

The second part of my plan is to pull the series off the market for a short period of time. I'm having the books reformatted and the Sumeria's Sons Interludes included in the back of the appropriate books. (For those of you who already own Sumeria's Sons and Sumeria's Sons Interludes, no new words were added. The books are exactly the same.) Once all the formatting has been completed and the paperback files are ready, Sumeria's Sons will go up on Kindle Unlimited.

I'm making this decision for several reasons, one of them is to enable new-to-the-series readers to discover Tristan and his guys.

But before this all rolls out, I would like to say a few words about the series' existing covers. London Burden created the dynamic covers for the first five books and Kirby Crow did a great job matching the style for book six. I love these covers so hard. They are beautiful and represent each story fantastically. London's artwork is fantastic and I will always be grateful and humbled that I got to have her style on my book covers. <3 <3

This week will be the last week you can buy the books with these covers. The series will start coming down as of Saturday, August 8th. It will also be the last week you can buy Sumeria' Sons through a non-Amazon seller. Entering the series in Kindle Unlimited means the series will be exclusive to Amazon.

And that is the news for the changes planned for Sumeria's Sons. I'm excited that I'll be able to share the new covers soon. I can never hold a surprise for long. LOL!

Y'all are going to laugh at me because I'd forgotten that April 15th was The Tax day as well until this past weekend. Oops. But hey, this is like a ray of sunshine midst the tax woes, yeah? Okay a tiny sliver. :D

This is the third book of the Sumeria's Sons series. Hiding Tristan's condition becomes complicated as they deal with family issues. With the passing days they uncover information about their enemies, dangers lurking in their own tribe, and long forgotten love that could either push Tristan and Ushna together or tear them apart.

Excerpt:

I woke up with a jolting start, hands clutching at someone, something that wasn't there. My heart pounded like a drum in my chest.

A dream.

It was only a dream, and the images faded fast. Groggily, I tried to catch it and bring it back, as I struggled to remember. It was important. There was something I wasn't supposed to forget, something I needed to do. I nearly growled in frustration as the contents of the dream, like smoke, drifted away from me until all I remembered were a pair of piercing blue eyes, hopeful and pleading.

I scrubbed my hands over my face in frustration. These dreams plagued me every time I closed my eyes. Always I woke with a sense of urgency but recalled nothing when the fuzziness of sleep cleared. If I only remembered, maybe I could do something, but as it was, I woke frustrated and saddened.

Some mornings the sense of loss was so overwhelming I hid from Ushna until the mood subsided. I didn't know how to explain why I was so affected by my dreams. On the mornings I needed to conceal myself, I’d sit in my dark office. The sorrow was so strong it seemed as if my chest had been cracked open. I prayed he would never see me in those minutes of consuming grief. What could I say to make him understand when I couldn't comprehend it myself?

This time, I had awakened with the impression of a task incomplete. Not with enough sadness to steal my breath but with a purpose. I had something more; it was only names my mind seemed to pluck out of the air but it was somewhere to start. I needed answers, and I had a hunch they were to be found with these new clues from my dream; Angelo Giannis and Nikita Minoas. I didn't know who they were but given time I’d find out.

The sun hadn't yet breached the horizon. I lay in bed, warm and cozy next to Ushna, and listened to the soft inhalations of his breathing while I stared at his beautiful, masculine face. Long, dark eyelashes brushed the tops of his cheeks, lips pink and slightly pouty in rest, his blue-black hair sweeping across his brow and getting caught in the dark stubble along his cheek. His sun-darkened skin glowed vibrantly even in sleep.

Dreams aside, I loved waking up before Ushna so I could watch the sun paint the face of my consort with the colors of dawn. I’d listen to his breathing and watch his chest rise and fall, making the iridescent scales of his albino caduceus appear as liquid silver. Being with him in moments like these, I knew where I was supposed to be.

Much had happened in the three months since I’d found out that I wasn't only Lycan royalty but the last and only prince of the Enkidu bloodline. This jolting revelation had changed my life forever. I went from being an insignificant alpha with a tribe of two to having one of the fastest growing tribes with the largest contingent of Lycan warriors outside of the hearth tribe back home in Georgia.

Changes were being made to our ranch as a part of the infrastructure before Ushna and I stepped from the shadows and revealed our identities to all Lycans as the royal couple, and me as the future king. Having security in place before going public with the announcement was imperative because assassins had murdered those who came before me. Recent events with the Magi College made us question who to trust, especially after Caspian MacCuill, a member of the governing Magi Triad, attempted to kidnap Ushna, as well as our childhood friend and Magi, Gregori Borchetta.

If I only had myself to care for, I would disappear. But I had Ushna and now our children to watch over and protect. Our people needed us, and I couldn't find it within myself to abandon them. Even though there were dangers to both of us and the family we planned to have, if we backed down—if we left and acquiesced to our safety—our race would not survive the forces striving to destroy us.

Even with my firm resolve, I worried about my ability to protect Ushna. He believed it was his job to protect me, but shouldn't it go both ways? There were forces that would harm him for associating with me. They’d murder him if they knew he was my husband.

I stroked my hand down over my large, swollen stomach. Nine weeks into my sixteen week pregnancy, and I was already huge. I was no longer the last of my line, and once the assassins found out, my life would be more dangerous than it had ever been.

Running fingertips over the swell of Ushna's chest, I rested my palm over his heart. He moved under my hand, moaning deliciously. I studied his sun-bronzed features and his solid muscular planes, shaped by hard work. There were moments when I was amazed he loved me. Only me. The knowledge humbled me even as it strengthened me.

Excerpt:

I sat on my horse, Dancing Socks, in the middle of the river that cut through my property, the chill of the water numbing my legs. We were stuck, trapped between two creatures of myth and a Goddess of the Lycan race. Behind me, six of my warriors in the fearsome Lupe battle form braced to protect me.

I was in deep, deep shit. For the life of me, I couldn’t see a way out. Two Shirdals―lion-eagles also known as gryphons―one in front of me and one behind, effectively cut off any escape. Socks and I couldn’t outrun these Sumerian creatures of myth. But they were the least of my problems. What held my full attention was the woman standing before me on the water’s edge.

The Goddess Ki, clothed in a long, flowing gauzy dress, wearing a crown of ram’s horns, with a bow and quiver of arrows over her left shoulder and a cudgel hanging from her waist. She held a lion cub’s leash while regarding me with a stern, assessing gaze.

“Tristan Javed Ksathra Janick, Prince of the Enkidu, do you know who I am?”

How could I, or any Lycan, not know her? Regardless of what had happened today, I’d believed there was a solution. There was always a way out as long as I continued to breathe—but this, her, I couldn’t fight and win.

“You are the Goddess Ki, consort of Enki, Lady Life, mother of all living things, Nourisher of Kings. I greet you, Goddess. Do with me as you will.”

From across the water, Ki smiled a very white smile. “Come to me, Tristan. We have much to discuss,” she commanded.

I nudged Socks with my knees and she reluctantly finished crossing the stream, nervously tossing her head and rolling her eyes at the Shirdal. Once out of the water, I guided her a safe distance to the side and dismounted, removing her wet saddle and blanket. Her muscles twitched as she held still for me.

For a moment, I leaned my forehead on Socks’s shoulder. She reached around and nibbled at my hair. Not a half hour ago, I had left the ranch to go for a ride. The morning had offered many revelations with an accumulation of events that changed the course of my life.

After breaking the bond with my Twin Flame, Theo Sullivan, I hadn’t expected to find happiness or to fall in love with my best friend, but I had. Last night we made love, and it had been the best night of my life. This morning I’d awakened to find out I was born of royal blood, and Ushna was my chosen consort. Before I could begin to grasp what that even meant, Caspian MacCuill—one of the Magi—and a group of Lycan warriors invaded my home and attempted to kidnap Ushna and blackmail our friend, Gregori Borchetta, which led to Ushna being shot while trying to protect me.

All I had wanted was an hour. One single, measly hour to gather my thoughts and figure out what the hell we needed to do next. Instead, I sat trapped with no way to escape. The only course of action left to me was to save as many lives as possible. No mortal defied a Goddess and lived. If only I knew what I’d done to draw her attention.

Reluctantly, I straightened, petting Socks’s velvety nose before I removed her bridle. Giving her a smack on the rump, I sent her away. With luck, she’d return home safely and not be eaten.

Ready for whatever fate awaited me at the hands of a Goddess who hadn’t walked the Earth in a very, very long time, I turned to Ki and waited. It couldn’t be taken as good fortune that she was here now.

“Why so gloomy, Tristan? Do you think so poorly of me that you expect to be struck down by my hand?” Ki asked, head tilted to the side as she stared with almond-shaped black eyes.

One Shirdal lay at her feet, allowing Ki to scratch the feathers between its ears. The picture presented seemed surreal, two things that shouldn’t exist in this modern world of skyscrapers, automobiles, space shuttles, and nuclear bombs. Yes, I kept an altar in my room where I left burnt offerings to the Warrior Goddess Anat and Shamash, God of Justice. Believing in the Gods and Goddesses didn’t mean one would manifest into my world and actually speak to me.

“I don’t wish to offend, Goddess. It’s… well… this has been a very unusual day. Right now, I’m assuming the worst because I cannot fathom why you are here—speaking to me.”

She gave me another toothy smile and glanced across the water to the Lupes harassing the other Shirdal. “Please call your warriors to you, Tristan. The Shirdals meant you no harm. They were only playing.”

I barely withheld an ugly snort. Playing with me? I could imagine them playing as they tossed me about with their sharp beaks. Without a word, I lifted a hand to the Lupes and they entered the water, intent upon me as they crossed in a straight line.

Launching Twin Flames Blog Tour

In The Beginning, There Was Frustration!

I started writing Twin Flames Because I was angry. I loved shifters and werewolves and had a running streak where I read some infuriating "mates" in both Het and M/M romance books. One of the mates would do or say something(s) asinine but because the "mate bond" the situation would get swept under the rug or have some lame apology and then they'd jump into the sack and have make-up sex. Now don't get me wrong, I love reading make-up sex but when I don't believe the resolution then it does nothing for me.

Internal conflict and personalities that occasionally bump can be enjoyable to read. But if certain issues or behavior were to happen to me in real life, my immediate response would be, "Hit the road Jack." I also enjoy reading about "mates" and "bonding" and I do love a good growly, "Mine!" even though I use them sparingly when I write because I feel if they occur too many times then I'm beating the reader over the head with repetitive behavior, and really, it can quickly become old when overdone.

So I was sitting there fuming because the asshat mate swept bad behavior under the rug and the two reconciled when I would've been tickled if they had broken up. I whipped out a piece of paper and started scribbling. After I wrote the first chapter of what I'd begun calling "Clean Break" I felt cleansed, as if I had exercised all the demons of reader frustration. Reading it over, an idea formed and I emailed the chapter to a friend.

"What do you think?"

"OMG, you have to finish it!"

In all honesty, I had packed up my pen and paper when I was twenty because I couldn't see a way where I could make a living writing. I have two file drawers packed full of stories I wrote before I stopped creative writing. Two years ago, almost 18 years later I desperately wanted to give it a try. I completed Clean Break with it coming in at about 96k and I submitted it to a publisher fully expecting to being rejected, but hoping for some critique because I knew it was a god-awful mess.

The craziest thing happened. The manuscript was accepted under the condition that I break the story into two parts. Clean Break gave birth to Twin Flames and Songs of the Earth.

As you can imagine the first time through editing was grueling. The manuscript was a complete mess but I swallowed my pride, shed some tears, made fun of myself, and learned a ton. Now Twin Flames will be re-released on October 1st. Re-editing the manuscript I could clearly see how much my writing had improved over the last two years. I was pleased as well as a little distressed. ^_^ Happy to have a chance to clean up Twin Flames, I polished it as well as correcting some continuity problems. Tristan was a total queen and my editor helped me to tone him down a bit so that he didn't come off as a teenager. *cackles* I was feeling pretty frustrated when I wrote that first chapter.

The blog tour posts will flow into each other, like a continuing conversation. Since this a re-release I was trying to keep from giving away spoilers to those who haven't read the series yet, which was harder than I thought it would be.

Another great thing that came out of re-editing Twin Flames was the final word count met Less Than Three's minimum for printing. I will be giving a couple away for the blog tour along with a really nice canvas tote bag, coffee cup, and some other pieces of swag. I've attached the list of blog tour stops. You can enter every day by identifying that day's Twin Flames Fact

I hope to see you there!!

News Regarding The Re-release of Twin Flames

New cover, new blurb, and a tentative release date is set...

Twin Flames (Sumeria's Sons, #1)
Re-release October 1, 2104

A Lycan descendant of Gilgamesh and Enkidu, Tristan is not as extraordinary as his ancestors. He is an average warrior, unremarkable throughout. But this fact does not trouble him because he has found his Twin Flame, the one person destined to be his, who will love him unconditionally, life after life.

Then his Flame betrays him, leaving him shattered and dying. Brokenhearted, Tristan dissolves the sacred bond and leaves. His best friend, Ushna, accompanies him, vowing to guard and protect him, and Tristan slowly comes to realize that love does not require a sacred bond.

But if he hopes to keep the love he chooses, they will first have to survive ancient secrets, lies, mythical creatures, and the return of absent gods…

Note: This book was previously released by another publisher. It has been revised and re-edited for release with Less than Three Press.

Excerpt of Striker

Finally Woman!! This morning I completed the line edits and beta feedback review to submit  Striker (The Valespian Pact #2) to Less Than Three Press. Yay! #abouttime!

After cuts and edits the manuscript was paired down to 87694 words. The longest story I submitted before this was Dreams of the Forgotten at a little over 64k, if I remember correctly.

I was a little late with this. I had originally anticipated finishing the story by the end of August. With other obligations and working on multiple projects that were due, well it didn't happen. So I concentrated solely on Striker all of September and October, completing the story on October 30th. The first round of edits shaved off 8k and then I sent it out to the beta readers.

I don't know about anyone else, when I look at a manuscript for so long, going over and over scenes and points, by the time I send it to a beta I am ready to claw my eyes out. I have to have break from the story, a couple of weeks at least, to be able to come back with a fresh eyes. If I don't, and I know this from experience, I will cut and slash the ms until it unrecognizable only to come back later and add everything back. It's not pretty and a huge waste of my time.

So last Wednesday I reviewed the beta notes and started line edits (which is an activity that takes up two levels of hell). I had moments when I looked at the paragraph and thought, "WTF. That does not even make since." But it's all good.

The edits were wrapped up and I sent the story in. Now I'm waiting.  While I wait I thought I'd share an excerpt. I had to find one that didn't give away spoilers. I thought it would be nice to give a little of Empress Ashari's POV. She's kind and fierce. More than once she caused me to tear up. This takes place in the later half of the book. It's a little long but I have the idea y'all won't mind. :) I hope you enjoy the excerpt.

Ashari reached the top of the ramp and stepped on to the landing pad. Four ships covered the surface, ramps lowered allowing people to disembark. She sensed him as any Mar'Sani mother could. He was close, so close and yet she could not see him. Her gaze searched the crowd, looking for a familiar face or form. The majority of the people were Monticore but she noticed robotic forms she had come to know as the Feteine and others who were not Mar'Sani who she surmised were a part of the crew of Zeus's ship. She thought it curious no one made their way to the waiting vehicles but seemed to be waiting.

From the closest vessel a group of Monticore bristling with weapons strode menacingly down the ramp fanning out at the bottom in a semicircle. Their posturing caused her own Basilisc guards to go on alert, closing in tighter around her. She watched their hand signals. A noise at the top of the ramp drew her attention.

Warlord Sohm'lan strode down the ramp in front of six males shouldering long poles baring an oblong capsule made of mother of pearl and encrusted with barnacles and shell fish. Behind them came another six males baring Zeus aloft on a stretcher. Her breath caught even as her stride quicken.

Two. Two sons so close together that her ties to them blended, hiding the presence of one. Ashari blinked rapidly. That they were being carried out did not bode well. Her mind supplied dozens of scenarios of what could be wrong with her young before she had taken two steps. Sohm'lan noticed her and called a halt before meeting her at the edge of the Monticore guard.

"Your Highness, it is a pleasure to see you again." Sohm'lan bowed deep. She thought he appeared haggard but whole.

"My sons?"

"Are tired but unharmed."

Ashari slipped through the line of guardsmen and stopped next to the capsule to place an unsteady hand against the smooth, cool side. She had never dared to hope to see him again in her lifetime. She had resigned herself to be content to know Canry was alive. Would he remember her? Did he want to see her? Was he angry because she had not found him? Ashari pushed the tumble of questions away and pressed her trembling lips together.

"Warlord, how is Canry?" She hated that someone else knew her son's wellbeing better than she did.

"He is whole in body and mind. He has grown to become a unique treasure to our people," Sohm'lan replied. When she gave him a questioning glance he said, "It is his and Zeus's story to tell, although I believe their exploits have already made it to the capitol."

She nodded. She heard the outrageous whispers among the guards, hoping half of what she overheard to be untrue. She strode towards Zeus's litter and came face to face with a fierce male with flashing green eyes and golden feline features. A single line of copper hair stood straight up like a bristle brush and dark stripes on either side of the line of hair. Teardrop shaped ears lined with golden hoops and dangling gemstones. About his collarbone rested a symbiote of dark green, the color almost as dark as the robes the male wore.

"Empress Ashari, I would like to introduce you to Prince Zeus's Udens Mahte'lan, Captain Dargon Kal-Turak from the Dar Massaga planet of Hedisa, and his symbiote Alpha."

Valdor told her Zeus had mated but the males' identity had been kept secret for the safety of the younglings they bore. Dargon's expression was wary, telling her he was unsure of the reception he would receive. She would discover why later but for now she held her hands out. "Dargon, I have heard much about you already. I would like to welcome you and Alpha into the family."

He grasped her hands lightly in his. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Empress. Zeus will be overjoyed to see you when he wakes. He has been worried for your safety and even though he received word you had reached Haven unharmed he will not believe it until he sees you with his own eyes."

She matched Dargon's polite grin. He seemed to be having an internal discussion with himself and when he met her gaze next she knew he had made some sort of decision. Retaining the grasp on one of her hands he led her to the head of the litter. The guardsmen gently lowered Zeus so she could see him.

"Zeus overtaxed his body. He simply rests now," Dargon said as she cupped her son's pale face.

His hair had been sheered short, his thick dark lashes rested against his cheeks. She could make out the dots from the warrior's dye still faintly staining his skin. Tenderly she pressed he forehead to his. She had missed him terribly, a part of her heart had been set adrift in space when he left. She hoped he found what he had been searching for. When she glance back to Dargon, she noticed the loving way he gazed at her son, she thought Zeus may have found more than he bargained for.

Stepping back from the litter, Ashari took Dargon's arm. "Thank you both for taking such good care of my son."

To his credit, Dargon accepted her proprietary hold without a second glance. "It is he who has taken care of us, Your Highness. Our mission would have failed without his aid."

Ashari knew there was a story there but did not press. There would be time enough for tales later. "You seem uncomfortable. I would say you are unsure of me or ... I am not certain. I would have you speak frankly, Dargon. You will soon be mated," — she glanced at him out of the corner of her eye — "I guess in a way you already are but soon your union will be official. You will become a part of House Vondorian and I would have us start out on the right foot."

Dargon seemed to contemplate her words before answering. "I agree but this is not a conversation for public consumption. Warlord Sohm'lan has bid me to hold my tongue until he could sit down with your family."

Ashari glanced to Sohm'lan who kept pace a half step behind her. Valdor spoke to her earlier about urgent news Sohm'lan refused to give over the open airways. She turned her attention back to Dargon. "Valdor has set aside time later today. When we get back to the city we will meet with him and hear of this news."

Halfway across the tarmac, a group of riders bypassed the vehicles waiting to transport the Mar'Sani to Haven. Ashari heard the rumors of the returned Valuzial Guardians but had yet to see them. The Fal'Amoric people stayed in a temporary camp outside the city so the guardians did not venture into the city.

Six riders loped toward them. The beasts were hairless, striped with varying shades of brown and black. The tail curved over the back of the creature, the bulbous tip spiked. Intelligent violet gaze searched the crowd but never wavered from their path toward Zeus.

She pinpointed their leader riding in the middle. The female who resembled Zeus did not slip Ashari's notice, drawing out an instinctual possessiveness she struggled to contain. Valdor had warned her the Fal'Amorics had identified Zeus as one of theirs but he attempted to reassure her all would be well. He told her it may help Zeus to know where he came from. She understood, truly she did, but Zeus was her youngling. She would do what was necessary to ensure he was happy but she would not stand by and allow a people who threw him away to try and reclaim him.

The guardian reached a hand-like paw up and assisted the female to ground. Her dress of black feathers caught in the wind to billow about her resembling a flock of birds taking flight. The lavender corset sparkled with gems contrasting with the layered boned necklace and the wood and horned headdress. No matter how Ashari viewed the ridiculous outfit, she did admire the quiet strength she saw within the female.

The Monticore allowed her through their line without question which caused Ashari to scowl.

"Dargon! Is Zeus hurt?"

"No Athena. He is sleeping," Dargon replied.

The female, Athena, gazed affectionately at Zeus but when she attempted to touch him, Ashari hissed a warning. She met Athena's surprised gaze. She would not bare her teeth in challenge — yet.

Ashari straightened her shoulders as Athena gave her an assessing glance. Dargon stepped forward placing himself slightly in front of Ashari, not that she needed the protection, but Athena would.

"Princess Athena, I would like to introduce Empress Ashari Vondorian."

The corners of Athena's mouth tightened. "Then you must be a part of his adoptive family."

"You are mistaken. On Atlainticia we do not adopt people as you would adopt a pet. We take people into our families. They are as flesh and blood to us as those we have birthed. Zeus is my young, he suckled at breast, he bares our name, and he swims where none but the Mar'Sani can."

Athena's ice-colored gaze blazed with anger. "You believe he will not come back to his people?"

Ashari felt Dargon's gaze on her. When she turned her attention to him she realized her answer was important to him. "We raised our son to be good, brave, and just. He has a noble heart. He knows what he wants and does not hesitate to go after it." She turned her gaze back to Athena. "Make no mistake, I may have raised my son well but I will drop all accoutrements of civilization and morality to protect my young. I know every detail of what was done to him by his people before Poseidon laid him at our doorstep. He has a forgiving heart. I am his meme, I do not forgive."

Happy Thanksgiving!  Thank you for stopping by and reading!!

Alpha is Pregnant: Valespian Pact Update

What am I doing today? Alpha and Dragon are giving birth today. Since Alpha is the one pregnant, he shoulders most of the labor, although... after much thought last night Dargon will share more than originally planned.

So poor Alpha and Dargon have 21-30 hours of labor. Then they have to be very still while the kit moves down into Dargon's pouch. Have you ever seen a discovery channel special on marsupials? I did when I was a child. Amazed, fascinated, and a big serving of awww stayed with me over the years because it really was incredible. It was a kangaroo momma and the baby was the size of peanut. Small, pink, and hairless the little joey didn't even have his eyes open. He crawled up the momma's tummy, climbed into the pouch where he found a nipple and stayed in that same position for a long time. Obviously, I have never forgotten the show.

Seriously, don't those little guys have a huge aww factor with the first instinct to make sure they are protected? I think I was eight when I'd seen the show. They look fragile and yet they were so strong. Afterwards I wanted to go to Australia and adopt all the kangaroos and make sure they had a safe place for their joeys. Sometimes I wonder if I shouldn't have been a vet. :)

Today and probably most of this week's writing will be geared towards the events that happens around Alpha giving birth. A little peanut (or two *cough-cough*) will be born today, and as beautiful as the moment will be, danger still lurks. Zeus must captain the Oethra 7 when Prince Azeas's and Prince Mestor's warship, The Gorgon, will drop out of hyperspace in Valespian space. They suspect they might be stepping into an ambush and even though they made provisions to meet that scenario, things don't go as planned. Against all the odds, Zeus has to find a way to protect Dargon and Alpha, and now his offspring, while making sure the Fal'Amoric reach the safety of Haven. Finally, you will know who the Striker is and how deadly he can be. Hold on to your seats because this is going to be an awesome ride!

In other news: Wednesday thru Friday of this week I will be hosting Vona Logan. There will be a new release giveaway so make sure you stop by and check it out.

Also: In case you missed it. I wrote a free online short story, The Legend of the Bearwere Curse. It is the prequel to Fated which will be coming out the last week of this month for the LHNB events. Click there---> Hearts On Fire Reviews to read. It's not very long, just under 5k.  Enjoy!!

Blurb: Tristan has agreed to bond with Ushna but there is still much to do. Returning to Tribe Enkidu puts everyone on edge and Tristan is being stalked like prey. It doesn't help that he fights depression as he mourns the loss of Nikita, or that claiming his birthright becomes a battle of wills with the Elder Council, and the pleading of his adoptive daughter adds to the oppressive feeling. Stumbling onto a secret prison while searching for Ushna leads Tristan to risk everything to free a lost God. But breaking the tie to his Flame has more repercussions than Tristan knew and the assistance of a forgotten Goddess and a centuries old lover may not be enough to save him.

Excerpt:

"Xenres," Thomas said stepping close. "I know what you're thinking. Your consort has possibly been kidnapped by your enemy and seemingly held hostage somewhere down that tunnel. But we need to wait for Captain Ybarra to bring reinforcements. He'll be able to confirm if your consort is missing."

Again, we all tried to contact someone, anyone, at Nathan's estate. We were all frustrated when the calls went unanswered. I didn't disagree with Thomas. There were too many easy ways to plant a false scent trail and not enough evidence to chance a rescue with our current numbers. I had five warriors and I was slow, fat, and pregnant. I would hinder my men's movements, and their concern would be to keep me safe above all. Even if I superseded Juan's orders and sent two scouts down the tunnel, I would be left with three guards, and no way to escape if we were attacked.

Waiting for Juan to come back with reinforcements was the logical choice. Fifteen minutes to the house. Ten to fifteen minutes to gather a force and another fifteen minutes to get back. Juan had already been gone ten to fifteen minutes. We only had a little longer to wait for his return. The next draft brought the smell of blood mingled with Ushna's scent.

No.

All logical thought left and I knew I couldn't wait, not if Daniel had hurt Ushna. There wasn't anything on this world that could make me stand out here when there was a strong possibility Ushna was being tortured. By the expressions from the warriors, they knew this as well.

With numb fingers, I tried one more time to call Ushna, only to be thrown into voicemail. I left a scathing message full of fake threats if Ushna didn't return my call immediately. I dialed Juan, he picked up, but loud static cancelled out any other sound. I cussed loud and long, not caring who heard me.

Russ pulled one of the two swords he carried from his belt. "You realize we're probably walking into a trap?" He handed over a blade. "I don't have a spare firearm."

I took the offered hilt, testing the balance before giving him a firm nod. "I know but I can't take the chance." I stared at his dark eyes, letting him see my resolve. I ordered one man to wait for Juan's return and report our plan to search for Ushna.

We approached the shed cautiously; the smell of blood grew stronger the closer we came to the entrance. The scent hadn't been there when we first arrived, which meant it was fresh. Thomas descended the stairs first and we waited at the top for the all-clear. The cool air rose up from the stairway as we waited for the warrior to return. He stepped into our view. "The tunnel is pitch-black, but there appears to be a lighted room twenty to thirty feet toward the end."

With two warriors in front of me and two behind, we descended the slick stone stairs into absolute dark. The air was moist and cool. The granite under my hand was smooth to the touch and wet with condensation. My heart pounded. That Ushna's scent was stronger here, with the smell of blood overlaying it, worried me. I picked up other odors. An older, stale smell with mold along with various animal traces underlying everything else.

Carefully, with a hand following the wall, we followed the passageway toward a sliver of light at the far end of the tunnel. We shuffled as quietly as we could, unsure of the state of the ground under foot. Our breathing seemed loud in the enclosed space, and I worried it would mask any noise made by someone sneaking up on us.

HAPPY READING!! I hope enjoy Surrounded by Crimson, the fourth book in the Sumeria's Sons series.

Cheers!!
