Pact Days: Ursid #ValespianPact


Welcome to Thursday's Pact Days! Today, we have the Ursids.

There are two Ursids, brothers Al'haska and Eh'monak, served on the Oethra 7 in both Alpha Trine and Striker. They were weapons specialist who helped Prince Zeus protect the mountain pass to Haven in Striker.

A couple of side notes: For a list of species that have been posted so far, see the The People of Valespia page. I'm placing these in alphabetical order so I won't unintentionally place importance on any specie. I will leave off information on the species that will spoil future books. My standard sheet has the same categories for all species. So there will be blank categories just because that species didn't need them.

Description: Average height 7' or over 2 meters, iron blood type, bi-ped, humanoid, bearlike appearance, strong and densely muscled, hands are squat and chubby, lacking the 3rd knuckle. From each finger extends long ebony claws that range from one to four inches and are exposed when they close their hand into a fist. Despite their bulky appearance, they are amazingly agile and capable of great speed. Rotund. Amber eyed. Short fur in a range of colors with darker skin underneath

They handmake surcoats of knotted work; the knot explains the wearer's marital status, social status, combat, wealth, and sexual inclinations, always worn to battle and quite beautiful to behold

Their culture surrounds ritualized combat. Combat is honorable form of life and those who choose it will spend every waking hour to perfect their skills. Most of the warriors are 2nd sons of nobles.

Sometimes suspicious of new technology until it has been thoroughly tested.

A large part of their trade is in the delicate craftwork and art they produce.

Galactic Patrol employs Ursids as shock troops or battlesuit operators. Since most Ursids are content to remain on their ancestral homeworld, those GP employs are usually outcasts, malcontents, 2nd sons of nobles, and criminals who enjoy killing. Despite this fact, the Ursids perform admirably well in combat, possibly because Urose guarantees any who fail in their duties would be shipped back to the homeworld for execution.

Most warriors are accomplished poets.

Females will have litters of two but no more than 3 litters in their life span.

Al'haska and Eh'Monak: outcasts because of the 2nd son rule, they would not be separated

Large clan armies meet on the field of battle to hurl taunts until the actual battle begins. Battle will continue until the 1st death at which point the fighting ceases.
