I regret Nothing! What's On The Reading Radar #TBR #WishList

I had to make this confession to my husband the other day... "You know how if you have an ebook through Amazon they sometimes offer the audiobook for a discounted price? Yeah, well, it asked me if I wanted Amazon to search my purchases for such deals, and I thought, 'What the hell,' and I sort of went crazy."

Him: "How crazy? Do you even know how much you spent?"

Me: "I can sort of guess."

Him looking incredulous: "Guess?"

Me: "I wasn't really paying attention to how many I clicked on because, you know, $1.99 here $3.49 there."

So my unintentional excursion ate into my Black Friday money and I regret Nothing! ^_^

Now for the interesting finds while I was book browsing. Enjoy!--but perhaps not as much as I did. Those little purchases added up faster than I thought they would. LOL!

She saved one life…now she could lose her own.

It takes more than an ominous warning to scare trauma surgeon Kate Marshall into hiding. The patient who just died on her table had connections to a crime lord with a vicious reputation for revenge. However, when a ghostly figure appears right before bullets start whizzing past her head, Kate is forced to admit she’s stumbled into a Twilight Zone of trouble.

Ex-army doctor Jason Nolan should have been on duty at the hospital, but ghosts from his past drove him to numb his burned-out soul in the back booth of a waterfront bar. When the tall, leggy, Grace Kelly lookalike tracks him down to give him a piece of her razor-sharp mind, he figures he deserves it.

But Kate doesn’t deserve to be stalked by a shadowy serial killer with a motive that extends all the way to the Louisiana bayou and ties to a past Nolan would like to forget. Only Nolan can help Kate navigate the terrifying path that lies ahead. A path riddled with voodoo, superstition and death.

The Impatience of Self-Editing When I Can Think Of Other Things To Focus On

"The Elffin-ones have buried the truth about the Scarab War so thoroughly they have forgotten who they should be afraid of."

I finished writing Darksoul on November 3rd. Since then I've been self-editing before I send it to beta readers and the editor. I found a plot hole which I had to fix and a few things that needed clarification but I won't know the total damage until someone else reads it.

...And I'm getting impatient. This part of the process is grueling because I've read the book so many times that it's hard to concentrate.

Plus, my co-author for the Devil's Dawn series is probably tired of waiting on my ass to get my chapter done and sent back to her...

And I need to start my story for LT3's sub-call for Roughhouse Raiders.

So I'm impatient to go forward. November is almost half over and I have to get my butt in gear.

Now I need to get back to editing. I'm at page 226 of 314 and I would like to get it finished today if can. *knock on wood*

In the meantime, have you seen my Pinterest page for Darksoul? If not, check it out. There are some pretty cool visuals of some of the characters to be found there. :)

Thank you for stopping by and reading!!

What Is On The Reading Radar? #TBR #WishList

I'm only a week late sharing my browsing bounty. Usually what I have is more diverse but what I've come across is a lot of contemporary and holiday stories (that's not snagging my interest at the moment). As you know I read primarily Fantasy/Science Fiction. BUT right now YA (which I haven't read in years) and crime thrillers (ditto) have been drawing a lot of my attention, if they have romance and something paranormal about them, that's just a plus. When I have more time to dawdle, I'll pull in more of everything else. Right now my time is consumed with Editing, Editing, Editing... And now for the fun! ^_^

But he wasn’t expecting the partner they sent, or his own gut-punch of a response to the man.

Julian worked hard for that FBI Honors Internship. It was supposed to be a foot in the door. He’d never expected it to catapult him into the middle of a major undercover operation. Yet here he is, sleeping on a filthy mattress and using every trick in the book to avoid torture—and worse. He’s never felt so scared, or so alive, in his entire life, and he’s not sure if it’s the danger, or Leo, that’s making his heart race.

There’s no time to think about it, though. The operation is heating up, and Leo and Julian are running out of time and options. As choices become more difficult, they must find a way to take the traffickers down, or risk becoming just another set of organs for sale.

Lead Me Into Darkness: Five Halloween Tales of Paranormal Romance

All-Hallows-Eve brings out the wicked in even the most reserved among us… and the lure of romance is the keenest incentive to follow a beloved into the unknown. Lead Me Into Darkness is a compilation of original tales of queer paranormal romance by five of the hottest authors of contemporary romance.

Take You Farther by Santino Hassell
Brian Watts’ boyfriend is a newly turned vampire, and he’s shouldering the blame. Watts would do anything–including offering up a vein, stripping for cash, and demanding answers from other creatures of the night–to redeem himself and save the man he loves.

Memory Hill by J.C. Lillis
Billy Hartigan’s been dead for ten years, and it’s really pissing him off. Stuck in Memory Hill Cemetery due to “unfinished business,” he fritters away the long days playing monster movies in his head, reliving the glory days of his indie band, and mourning his missed chance at love with his best friend. Then one Halloween he gets a visit from troubled teen geek Todd Racklin, the last living fan of Billy’s old band. Todd needs some beyond-the-grave help from his idol–and his visits might hold the key to Billy’s release from Memory Hill.

Grave Circumstances by J.R. Gray
Secret agendas collide with guns, ghosts and confusing erections, on a tour through a haunted graveyard. Jesse’s been carrying a secret and needs a night alone with George. But George has his own agenda, leading Jesse into darkness, the fright of his life, and a blinding release he won’t soon forget.

Boyfriends in the Boneyard by Kris Ripper
In a perfect world, Truman Jennings would be spending Halloween with both his husband and his boyfriend; alas, in this one he’s on a ghost tour with his husband, and his boyfriend is probably watching scary movies and eating pizza rolls.

The cemetery is appropriately creepy, their tour guide weaves a good yarn, and Hugh’s in a very odd (but utterly delightful) mood. When Hugh leads him away from the group Truman doesn’t know what to think, but considering his husband’s filthy, kinky mind, he’s more than willing to find out.

As usual, Hugh has both tricks and treats up his sleeve.

Mayfair by Roan Parrish
Jocelyn has been secretly in love with her best friend Bethany for a year. And it’s hell. But there are other things—dark, creeping, illusory things—that are tormenting Jocelyn even more. They’ve been appearing more and more lately and Jocelyn is starting to doubt her sanity. But a Devil’s Night ritual in a Detroit cemetery may reveal more than she ever imagined…

Which was the perfect metaphor for the small conservative town where he grew up. Once he graduated from high school, he vowed to never return, hoping to escape the teasing he experienced since childhood.

On his way to work one night, his nightmare comes to life and something in the darkness comes for him, causing him to careen off the freeway and flip his car. During the ensuing chaos, a stranger pulls Caleb from the wreckage moments before lighting it on fire. As the night continues, Caleb discovers that this stranger knows more about him than he should, perhaps even more than Caleb knows about himself.

Caleb is forced to trust the stranger or run the risk of being killed by whatever attacked him on the road. Love, adventure and a steaming good time.

Clockwork Love, Book 1

As the French army leader’s bastard son, Cornelius Stevens enjoys a great deal of latitude. But when he saves an enemy soldier using clockwork parts, he’s well aware he risks hanging for treason. That doesn’t worry him half as much, however, as the realization he’s falling for his patient.

Johann Berger never expected to survive his regiment’s suicide attack on Calais, much less wake up with mechanical parts. To avoid discovery, he’s forced to hide in plain sight as Cornelius’s lover—a role Johann finds himself taking to surprisingly well.

When a threat is made on Cornelius’s life, Johann learns the secret of the device implanted in his chest—a mythical weapon both warring countries would kill to obtain. Caught up in a political frenzy, in league with pirates, dodging rogue spies, mobsters and princesses with deadly parasols, Cornelius and Johann have no time to contemplate how they ended up in this mess. All they know is, the only way out is together—or not at all.

Warning: Contains tinkers, excessive clockwork appendages, and a cloud-sweeping tour of Europe. A little absinthe, a little theft, a little exhibitionism. Men who love men, women who love women, and some who aren’t particular.
