What's going on? Me? I've been home alone aalll week. It was the perfect opportunity to get up to some shenanigans and what did I do? Pretty much nothing. LOL.
Title: White Trash Warlock
Series: The Adam Binder Novel, 1
Author: David R. Slayton
Length: 322 pages
Genre: Urban Fantasy / New Adult / Gay
Notes: I wasn't expecting this book to be as good as it was. It is compelling, has heart, and a MC who could have walked away, but doesn't. This has some great world building and the brokenness of his family ended up touching me when I was all for him leaving them behind. I bought the next book but I'm going to hold onto it until book three is released in November because my anxiety flared in the first chapter. I decided I would try to find myself some spoilers to alleviate that anxiety and decided that I should probably wait. I just want all the good for Adam.
Blurb: Not all magicians go to schools of magic.
Adam Binder has the Sight. It’s a power that runs in his bloodline: the ability to see beyond this world and into another, a realm of magic populated by elves, gnomes, and spirits of every kind. But for much of Adam’s life, that power has been a curse, hindering friendships, worrying his backwoods family, and fueling his abusive father’s rage.
Years after his brother, Bobby, had him committed to a psych ward, Adam is ready to come to grips with who he is, to live his life on his terms, to find love, and maybe even use his magic to do some good. Hoping to track down his missing father, Adam follows a trail of cursed artifacts to Denver, only to discover that an ancient and horrifying spirit has taken possession of Bobby’s wife.
It isn’t long before Adam becomes the spirit’s next target. To survive the confrontation, save his sister-in-law, and learn the truth about his father, Adam will have to risk bargaining with very dangerous beings … including his first love.

Title: Yes, Roya
Series:
Author: C. Spike Trotman
Length: 146 pages
Genre: Erotic Romance / Manga / Poly / Bisexual / Own Voices /
Notes: Enjoyable story set in the 1960s. I looked up the author's back list after reading and ordered a couple of things in paperback which should be arriving any day now.
Blurb: ADULTS ONLY. This universally-lauded erotic classic, originally published in black and white, is now available in brilliant FULL COLOR.
Wylie Kogan is an aspiring artist, stumping for work in 1963 California. When a fawning fan letter grants him access to his cartoonist hero, the wealthy and celebrated Joseph Ahlstrom, he's quick to take advantage of a proffered portfolio review... but winds up learning more than he ever wanted to about Joe when he stumbles across some of his idol's illicit fetish art. His hasty, ill-considered theft of a drawing triggers a series of events he never planned on... most of which involve Joseph's imposing and resolute partner, Roya.
Title: Atone
Series:
Author: JC Owens
Length: 276 pages
Genre: Romance / Fantasy / Gay
Notes: This is one of those stories that if you're looking for a bit of angst but need to spoiled about it. The blurb gives you the gist of it, allowing me to read this with relish instead of anxiety. The first pages of the story shows the rejection and we get to see how this couple built their relationship through flashbacks. I'm not a fan of those, but for this story type it worked well and done in such a way that it didn't aggravate me. Great story and really hit that particular reading itch I had.
Blurb: Tal finally had it all... until the man he loved abandoned him.
Once, Tal Oryan was an elite warrior, fighting for the kingdom at the side of the powerful general who loved him. Then Tal loses everything in a haze of pain and betrayal after his hand is severed in battle. Now labeled a "cripple" and cast out from the warrior life he's known for so long, he has no choice but to return to his past, a place of horror and guilt. He can no longer stay in the capital after High General Ramidine Swal, the man who once claimed him, never shows up after Tal is wounded. Worst of all, the priceless sword Ramidine once gifted to Tal is gone. Now Tal struggles to find a new purpose as the traumatic events in his past demand the most brutal of sacrifices...
Ramidine Swal is known as The Golden General, feared, revered, and the right-hand man to the prince. But when he returns from a desperate victory to Tal, the wounded warrior he was forced to leave behind, he discovers that Tal has fled the capital. Ramidine soon learns of a twisted cover-up and a betrayal so dark it threatens not only the future peace but the very man he loves. Ramidine is not a man to be stolen from, and certainly not someone so precious as Tal. He is determined to find Tal and set things right, no matter the distance and no matter the cost. Tal will be his again.
Title: Champion of Dusk & Dawn
Series: Champions, 2
Author: Megan Derr
Length: 123 pages
Genre: Romance / Fantasy / Poly / Bisexual /
Notes: Each book in this series covers different MCs. This is story is about second chances. Leonine's lovers have broken up with him. Even as heartbroken as he is, he helps them when they are in need. The forced proximity trope is at play here which allows what happened to unfold slowly, letting you get to know the couple who pushed him away. Leonine is a great knight but I think the people who sent him after assassins by himself are idiots.
Blurb: Immediately after winning his spurs, Leonine is sent on a quest: track down the person or persons who assassinated the late king, and bring them back—dead or alive. Still exhausted from helping his former master win a vital championship, and reeling from being discarded by his lovers, all Leonine wants is a chance to catch his breath.
Instead he is met with foul weather, brigands, and the very last two people in the world that he wants to see: Everard and Odilia, the lovers who discarded him, who decided he wasn't worth the trouble. Just like everyone else in Leonine's life.
His vows as a knight require that he see them to safety, however, even as he continues his dangerous quest. Surrounded on all sides with challenges, Leonine isn't certain what will break him first: the killers or the broken heart.
