Reading Radar #WishList #TBR #reading

What am I doing? Typing my butt off all week. I'm about 80% finished with Cherished (again. I see no rewrites in my future.) Jason is in Florida visiting his father. So I have the house to my. I have also found a new game on Steam that I like to play. All those 'clean the house' plans I had might not get done. Party! Party! Party of One! LOL

Series: The Vampire Detective, 1
Author(s): Arizona Tate, Laura Greenwood
Length: 216 pages

Genre: Slow Burn Romance / Urban Fantasy / Paranormal / Vampires / Mystery / Demi Heroine / Poly-RH / Ace /

Notes: When I read that the FMC is demisexual (though not explained as such since how she's attracted is not a part of the plot) and one of the guys in her circle of lovers is ace (in the 3rd book), I picked this up. It is a cozy mystery and does a good job of revealing Lucy's backstory when needed. It does end with a bit of a... I don't want to say cliffhanger since it doesn't have anything to do with the plot or romance, but it did leave me with a, "WTH, William?" I did pick up the next book in the trilogy (which is complete) because "WTH, William?"

Blurb: Looking for something? Lucy Corentine, the Vampire Detective, is here to help!

Lucy's always been looking for a quiet life away from vampire society, and doing her PI work. But when a box with a blind cat, and her semi-fiancé turn up all in the same week, she begins to unravel a mystery unlike any other.

When someone hires her to find a missing watch, she thinks things have taken a turn for the better...she doesn't know how wrong she is.

-
Fangs For Nothing is book one of the complete Vampire Detective Trilogy, an urban fantasy mystery series with a quirky heroine, a blind cat, and a romantic whychoose subplot.

Blurb: Everyone lies to survive. Sometimes that means forgetting who you really are.

When Adrian's not-so-secret lover returns after three years abroad, he's faced with a conundrum. If he goes back to Benedikt, it means risking his life and soul. With the Kardinal breathing down his neck and a promotion on the horizon, Adrian has to choose between the man he used to love and the comfort and familiarity of the woman who adores him.

Genre: Romance / Paranormal / Vampire Rock Stars / Boss Romance / Gay

Notes:

Blurb: Drew

What’s a retired rockstar vamp to do in a quaint, quiet English town?

Buy the only pub, make it a vampire haven, and flirt incessantly with my one and only employee, of course.

Nova

I hate everything about my new boss.
His face. His arrogant smile.
The way he acts like he knows everything.
I hate him so much I just want to… kiss him? What the hell?

Series: Soulbound, 6
Author(s): Hailey Turner
Length: 417 pages

Genre: Romantic Elements / Urban Fantasy / Paranormal / Gay

Notes:

Blurb: Forgiveness is a hollow prayer you only hear in your dreams.

Patrick Collins has spent years handling cases as a special agent for the Supernatural Operations Agency, even as his secret standing in the preternatural world has changed. He should have confessed to his role as co-leader of the New York City god pack when he and Jonothon de Vere took up the mantle months ago, but he didn’t. Now that split loyalty will cost him at a time when he can least afford it.

Outmaneuvered, framed for murder, and targeted by the Dominion Sect, Patrick has to face a past full of lies to regain his freedom. Revealing the truth means he’ll need to give up the life that has defined him. Everything he’s fought to build with his pack is at stake, and losing them isn’t a price Patrick is willing to pay, but some choices aren’t his to make.

Jono knows they can’t cede any more territory if they want to win the god pack civil war spilling into the streets of New York City. But the souls of werecreatures are free for the taking when demons come to town and angels sing a warning no one can ignore. When Jono’s worst fear comes to life, and he loses the one person he can’t live without, the only option left is to fight.

Facing down the demons of their past and the ones in their present, Patrick and Jono will learn the hard way that some sins never wash away clean.

An Echo in the Sorrow is a 118k word m/m urban fantasy with a gay romantic subplot. It is a direct sequel to On the Wings of War. Reading the first book in the series would be helpful in enjoying this one.

Series:
Author(s): Lesli Richardson (Tymber Dalton)
Length: 217 pages

Genre: Love Story / Sci-Fi / Galactic War / Capture by the Alien / Poly / Egg-preg /

Notes: I read this years ago when it was published through Siren. The author got the rights back and self-pubbed under her main pen name. This is one of the books that I recommended and reread several times, but it's been a while. There are a couple of places where I cried buckets of tears. It says that content was added so I'm tempted to buy again and reread to see what was added.

Blurb: I hated the military…and now I’m an alien’s pet!

I hated the Terran military. I didn’t volunteer, either. Like so many others, I was drafted as cannon fodder in the senseless Terran war against the Algonquans. Not like I had much of a future ahead of me, though, without a rich family to pave my way or even pay for me to have a wife.

Now, my entire ship’s been captured. If what we’ve been told about the alien race is true, I’ll never be seen again. I hope they don’t eat me.

Turns out the truth is far different than we were led to believe. The Algonquans aren’t vicious, insectoid monsters, either.

We’re now their pampered pets…and they’re using us to help replenish their population to win the war.

You know, maybe this isn’t the worst life after all.

This standalone MMMM, sci-fi romance features humans as aliens' pets (and more), m-preg, a touch of power exchange, and…interesting alien tech. This book was previously published under my Tymber Dalton pen name. It has been revised and expanded for re-release.

Series: The Orc Prince Trilogy, 1
Author(s): Lionel Hart
Length: 167 pages

Genre: Romance / Fantasy / Enemies to Loves / Arranged Marriage / Gay

Notes:

Blurb: Prince Taegan Glynzeiros has prepared since childhood to fight and lead armies against invading orc forces, the enemies of elves since time immemorial. But the terms of a successful peace treaty means the elven prince will not be fighting the orcs, but marrying one.

Zorvut the Relentless is the third son of Hrul Bonebreaker, leader of the loose coalition of orc clans that have accepted the unprecedented elven peace treaty. Though his name has come from his unyielding spirit on the battlefield, when he is offered to the elves to be married off to their prince, he knows better than to try and fight against his father's wishes.

The first words they speak to each other are their wedding vows. Despite being considered the runt amongst the orc warlord's children, Taegan finds him to be surprisingly intelligent and thoughtful—everything the stereotypes about orcs say he shouldn't be. He doesn't want to fall in love, but Zorvut's gentle soul makes it difficult to resist. Worse, their marriage bond, forged by ancient elven magic between their minds, proves to be a far deeper and stronger connection than anyone would have anticipated. In spite of their trepidation, a true relationship begins to blossom from the political union.

But such a long war is not easily forgotten, and there are many who want to see them apart, both elf and orc. When a dark secret comes to light that threatens to nullify the very peace treaty that brought them together, Taegan must decide if his feelings for Zorvut are worth fighting for.

This steamy MM fantasy romance, the first in the Orc Prince trilogy, is a play on enemies-to-lovers with an arranged marriage twist, and contains light omegaverse/A/B/O elements (mpreg is discussed as an in-world possibility, but does not happen on the page) and some delicious size differences. This 18+ novel contains explicit scenes; if that's not your thing, Lionel Hart probably isn't the author for you.

Series: Demon Mates, 1
Author(s): Xenia Melzer
Length: 148 pages

Genre: Romance / Paranormal / Summoning Gone Wrong / Gay /

Notes:

Blurb: Finding love is hard—especially when you’re a demon and your potential mate is your sacrifice…

Sammy is content with running his bookshop and leading a book club consisting solely of paranormal creatures. Despite the persistence of his friends, he has resolved himself to a life without romance, since he doesn’t think anybody could find him and his tendency to spill useless knowledge whenever he gets nervous attractive.

Dresalantion is a demon prince and slightly—make that majorly—annoyed when somebody persistently tries to summon him. He finally decides to show up and put the fear of Dresalantion into his summoners but finds himself rescuing their sacrifice instead.

Sammy intrigues him from the get-go, and when Dre realizes that Sammy can get him the manga he’s been hunting for months—not to mention that he refuses a wish he offered him—the sexy demon decides to get to know this fascinating man better. Much better.

Series:
Author(s): Elizabeth Jewell
Length: 246 pages

Genre: Romance / Sci-Fi / Paranormal / Vampires / Gay

Notes: Several of these short stories I read a few years ago and enjoyed them. I don't remember reading the last one list.

Blurb: There’s one place in the universe vampires can bask in full sunlight - a red star deep in open space.

Solar Flare: The Lightning Girl will take vampires to the crimson star to experience the novelty of constant day. But Kristof is afraid to take that last step into the light -- until Tomas takes his hand.

Crimson Star: With the entire crew of Lightning Girl dead except for Ash and Trev, the hyperdrive down and the oxygen running out, Trev is determined to save his lover’s life -- no matter what the cost.

Emerald Earth: Ash and Trev were lovers when catastrophe befell the long-haul freighter Lightning Girl, but after twenty-five years of solitude and starvation, things may never be the same between them.

Lightning Girl: Triss’s a type of gender-fluid vampire thought to be extinct. His intriguing nature piques Cal’s interest, but Cal’s not sure if it’s the journalist in him that wants to learn more about this enigmatic vampire or the man who wants to get to know him in every possible way. In the light of the Crimson Star, they’ll have to come to terms with their boundaries, their secrets, and the ultimate nature of love.
