What's on the Reading Radar? #TBR #WishList #read

This week went by pretty fast. I'm unpacking and unpacking and unpacking. Did I not box all this stuff up not too long ago? 😂 (I just figured out the blogger upgrade came with emojis! BEWARE! 😅) I did make a little headway on Cherish on my breaks. As for reading, it has been a lot of re-reading (which is normal) mixed with some new-to-me authors and lots of book browsing. With the Labor Day weekend coming up, we usually hit Half-Price Book Store but there isn't one in NC. 😱 But the area has other used bookstores that I will definitely check out. I'm sorta of mourning the loss of Indy's used book super sales that Half-Price Books had at the fair grounds a couple times a year. Like I need more books since we are short on bookshelves at the moment. LOL!

Title: A Message from the Home Office
Series:
Author: Angel Martinez
Length:

Genre: Romance / Sci-Fi / Gay

Notes: I'm so looking forward to getting my pre-order! August 25th is the release date. This is in the same universe as A Christmas Cactus for the General which I love.

Blurb: Sissal Naganos, cobra yervath and diplomat banished to the hinterlands, didn't ask for an assistant, and he certainly didn't ask for such an annoying one.

Being an OIL (Onsite Inter-species Liaison) for the Interplanetary Multispecies Pact has never been an easy job. In fact it's a crap job when stuck on a backwater nowhere planet like Earth.

But cobra Yervath Sissal Naganos manages. The demotion was swift and heavy-handed, but he'll climb back out of this hell eventually. Humans don't meet his social needs, so, yes, it's been lonely and he tells himself he likes the solitude. That is, until IMP sends him an irritating new assistant he never asked for. Now his peace is well and truly disturbed and his paranoid diplomatic reflexes have reawakened. The worst part is the kid didn't have to be so cute.

Title: Dragon Born
Series: Kindled by Fate, 2
Author:
Misha Paige

Length: 118 pages

Genre: Romance / Paranormal / Fantasy / Gay

Notes: This is one of my favorite dragon series. I was introduced to this world by this book. I didn't read the first one until later, so this one can be read as a standalone. I was excited to see the series being re-released and it is now on KU too

Blurb: This book was previously published. No changes have been made.

As a young man, Martel stood against a tyrant and it nearly cost him his life. When the prince who saved him ascended the throne, Martel swore himself to the new king’s service. But over the years his gratitude and loyalty have deepened to something far more.

To stop a madman, Pyrrhos sacrificed his chance at happiness. So he devoted himself to leading his people out of his father’s shadow, no matter the resistance he faced. Now he has been given the gift of a grandson to pass his legacy on to and he is determined to secure the throne for his chosen heir.

And even though it is selfish when he knows his time is running out, he cannot stop reaching for the man who should have been his.

As Pyrrhos’ fate draws closer, treachery from within the court will threaten everything he holds dear, forcing him into a painful choice.

When the truth about Pyrrhos is revealed, Martel will have to defy fate itself to save the man he loves.

Title: Don't Rush Me
Series: Nora Jacobs, 1
Author: Jackie May
Length: 286 pages

Genre: Romantic Elements / Slow Burn Romance / Urban Fantasy / Paranormal / RH series, just no there yet /

Notes: This was a book that was recommended and even after I got it, I sat on it a while. But I finished it last night and I'm going to be buying the rest of the series. Strong FMC and though she has issues, she knows what they are. That was handled well, I think. Terrence the Troll was awesome. I actually cheered when he tore someone apart. So, warning there is violence but not as descriptive as it could have been. I'm looking forward to where the story is going.

Blurb:

Most humans have no idea that a dark and deadly underworld, filled with magic and monsters, exists. They wander through life blissfully ignorant of the supernatural world around them. Nora Jacobs is different. Nora knows exactly what kinds of hellish creatures haunt the streets of Detroit.

Thanks to a unique set of psychic abilities, Nora has managed to steer clear of the underworld most of her life. But all that changes the night the most powerful vampire in the city discovers her gifts and decides to use her as a tool to find one of his missing clan members.

As if that’s not bad enough, Nora believes she’s cursed. All her life, people, especially men, have been drawn to her—some to the point of obsession and violence. Underworlders, it seems, are not immune to this curse, and now she’s caught the attention of some of the most dangerous monsters in the city.

Neck deep in an investigation only she can solve, Nora quickly makes as many new allies as she does enemies. Her biggest problem is staying alive long enough to decide which is which.

*This is a slow burn reverse harem novel with adult themes that some may find triggering.

Title: The Bigfoot's Mate
Series:
Author: Delaney Rain
Length: 100 pages

Genre: Romance / Paranormal / Gay

Notes: I so enjoyed The Sea Monster's Mate that I thought I'd give this one a go and see if it is just as sweet and angst free.

Blurb: Anthropologist Ramsey Kaye survives a small plane crash in the forest, but is prevented from getting immediate help by injuries and bad weather. Though he’s out here looking for Bigfoot evidence, he’s still terrified when the real thing finds him taking shelter in the wrecked plane. But now he’s living in a cave with the hairy brute and discovering the big guy might not be so beastly after all. In fact, Ramsey might just be falling in love with Bigfoot.

Ramsey’s spent his life wanting to prove Bigfoot’s existence to the world, but now that he has all the evidence he could ever want, he’s not sure he wants to share. But what if people come looking for him, intent on rescuing him? Does he stay or go? Is love enough of a reason for Ramsey to abandon his modern life to remain here in the forest as Bigfoot’s mate?

Title: The Curse of the Mummy's Heart
Series:
(The Peculiars Book 1)

Author: Julia Talbot
Length: 241 pages

Genre: Romance / Paranormal / Historical Romance / Gay

Notes: This sounds fun.

Blurb: Something is rising in the desert sand, and between two adventurous men.

Famous 1920s Hollywood actor Douglas Fitzhugh and his brother Donnie are headed for Egypt on a classic monster movie quest. Their mysterious benefactor, a man they call Grant, has sent them to find a stranded archaeologist, and all they have to go on is a handwritten journal. That's just the kind of adventure Douglas loves, and he never passes up the chance to get away from his studio-driven life.

Charles Angeloff is also on his way to Egypt with a special object his father has asked him to return to the tomb he ripped it from. Charles is just out of university, and when he meets Douglas, he falls hard for Douglas' charm and his worldly ways.

As they travel, more men of adventure join them: a cowboy, a rich seminary student, and a librarian. When they're all together, it's like magic happens, and the men all realize they're on a mission to stop the horror that stirs beneath the desert sands, even as that creature sets its sights on Charles. Will Douglas and Charles lose each other just when they've found what they both think is the man they want to be with forever?

Thank you for stopping by and reading!!
