What's on the Reading Radar? #WishList

What's on my mind? All the end of year stuff. I need to write a blog post on what I plan to do for 2021. I want to write a post about my favorite reads in 2020. I want to have Cherish finished like NOW, but it's still slogging along. Reading has been a hit and miss and still I keep adding new books to the pile! LOL

Title: First Blood
Series: The Bladesworn Legacy Book 1)
Author: K. Gorman
Length: 290 pages

Genre: Action & Adventure / Sword & Sorcery / Steampunk / High Fantasy

Notes:

Blurb: Disgraced. Exiled. Born to kill.

The rnari are skilled elven warriors, the most respected and feared in the continent, and Catrin li Ternadon is no exception. With a bloodline that has guarded the Raidt royalty since its inception, she is a rising prodigy in the sect: strong, fast, smart, and unquestionably loyal.

Until she breaks the hand of Tarris li Naine, the Raidt’s crown prince.

What had seemed like an act of self-defense sends her off in unofficial exile, learning swordwork at a human castle.

There, she meets Nales Cizek, second-in-line to the most powerful kingdom in the world—the same kingdom that, three centuries ago, led a blood-thirsty conquest across the continent, wielding the blade of a powerful, cursed sword.

Soon, the two are thrown together in a fast, hard battle for survival, and they will need every red cent of their strength and cunning to come out alive.

Because demons are returning, and the world will never be the same.

First Blood is the first book in The Bladesworn Legacy, a mix of high fantasy, steampunk, and portal fantasy set in The Newton's Gate Universe. If you like complex, well-developed worlds, hard-hitting characters, snark and strong language, scroll up and click buy or borrow to start the adventure today. You'll also get full license to pester K. Gorman about the next book in the series. She's got nothing to do but write nowadays.

Title: Dancing in the Darkness
Series: The Alpha Gods, 1
Author: Lexa Luthor
Length: 275 pages

Genre: Romance / Sci-Fi / Omegaverse / Lesbian

Notes: Normally, I stay away from the Omegaverse since it usually deals with issues that make me bare my teeth, snarl, and hurl things. But this sounds different, though I'm going to have to look up g!p. And the pen name. Lexa Luthor! Do we have a Superman fan? LOL

Blurb: Set deep in the Milky Way galaxy, the beautiful planet, Kander, has been inhabited only by the Kalmar, a race of Alphas and Omegas, until Earth’s humans arrived years ago and disrupted their peace. Since its first dawning, Kander has been ruled by one Kalmar simply known as Kal, a supreme Alpha who harnesses a god’s spirit.

Charlie, an indignant human raised on Kander during the civil war, is beckoned back after she escaped as a teen. Needing money and a job more than her pride, Charlie is hired to retrieve a kidnapped Omega that was taken off-world. Charlie and her mercenary team work with Kal in preparation of their mission. Together, she and Kal form a plan, however, Charlie soon learns intimate details about Kal’s rare nature as a “female” Alpha.

As Charlie and her team embark on the journey to rescue the Omega, they are faced with startling questions about the true motives behind the kidnapping. It was supposed to be just another job, but when Charlie starts to give a damn about both the missing Omega and the enigmatic Alpha ruler, it leaves her in the crossfire.

His pathetic excuse for a boyfriend, Dale, was using it against him. Dale threatened to be very vocal about Clark's sexual preferences if he left him. Notes:

Blurb: Several years ago, Will's best friend ran away with an alien to live happily ever after. They've kept in touch, but Will misses the man that might as well be his brother. So, he decides he's going to go visit. Who cares if visiting requires a trip to outer space? No big deal, right?

Ticheck met Will for the first time while trying to find a friend who had gotten lost. Since then, they've seen him a couple times a year at most. Ticheck wasn't expecting him to be coming for a surprise visit, and they definitely weren't expecting to end up with him as a temporary roommate when cramped quarters on the ship force them to share.

From strangers, to surprise roommates, to friends…and maybe something else? But do they dare to dream of a life together when they literally come from two different worlds?

Roommates and Space Trees is a sweet asexual romance. It is book two in the Iska Universe series. It can be read as a stand-alone, but reading Granola Bars and Spaceships first will give you a better introduction to the universe.

Author: Michele Notaro
Length: 312 pages

Genre: Romance / Urban Fantasy / Fantasy / Gay / Multi-Author World

Notes:

Blurb: “There’s no time. Remember Rueberry Orchard.”

A beautiful man in strange clothing starts invading my dreams, and even though I know he isn’t real, the dreams—mind-links, according to him—are so vivid it’s hard to imagine this man doesn’t exist. After a few of these nightly visits, I start looking forward to meeting him and listening to his smooth voice as he tries to convince me to go to Rueberry Orchard.

To my surprise, the place really exists, but I know it would be crazy to go there when it’s ten hours away… right?

When the visits don’t stop, some deep desire inside me knows I have to listen to this dream man, even if it’s absolutely insane. I follow his instructions to Rueberry Orchard, and nothing in this world could’ve prepared me for what I find. Or for the wild adventure I’m about to embark on.

Rueberry Orchard is the first book in the multi-author series, Beyond the Realm: Remember. Each book is set in its own world and can be read as a standalone novel. Join eight authors on eight very different, romantic, and magical stories as each one writes their own take on the same concept.

***Rueberry Orchard is approximately 100,000 words

Sebastian Gage isn’t your typical omega. Determined to rise above his station, he is dead set on winning a third consecutive Top Dog competition to guarantee himself equality in the shifter society. But the pretty blue eyes and cute dimples of his spoiled rival might be a bigger challenge than completing the savage course.

Will the unlikely pair break all the rules and forfeit their hearts?
