What's on the Reading Radar? #TBR #WishList #amreading

What's up? Writing. Writing. And losing notes to the chapter I'm on that were prepared for the character months ago. That lead to hours (two days) of searching and a few tears over not finding said notes. I'm laughing, but not laughing, if you know what I mean.

On the reading front, not doing so bad. I started a reread of Anne Bishop's The Others series, which I haven't listed because it's a reread.

Title: Murder Most Lovely

Length: 230 pages
PublisherDreamspinner Press (April 30, 2019)

BlurbA killer at a small-town literary festival. Bumbling drug dealers. A kidnapped cat. Starting a romance among all this chaos might be the death of them.

Michael Fleishman is excited to meet his favorite mystery writer, Russell Withingham, at Lacetown’s Literary Fest. He is not expecting to cross paths with sexy hairdresser Jasper “Jazz” Dilworth—or become embroiled in a real-life mystery. As Lacetown’s only mortician and the county coroner, Michael is called to his first murder scene and is shocked to recognize the victim—Russell’s young lover.

Jazz only wanted to confront his ex, Russell, over his cheating. Instead, he meets the adorably awkward Michael and becomes a murder suspect. Soon Jazz is teaming up with Michael to clear his name. Along the way, they are helped and hindered by Michael’s sassy assistant, Kitty, the grumpy Sheriff Musgrave, Russell’s creepy PR rep, Norbert, and Michael’s lothario grandfather, who likes his manhattans strong and his women saucy. And of course, Mr. Pickles Furryton the Third….

Title: The Redemption of Althalus
Series:
Author(s): David Eddings, Leigh Eddings
Length: 726 pages
PublisherDel Rey; 1st edition (January 23, 2001)

Genre: Fantasy

Notes: A friend recommended this to me last week and I picked it up at the used bookstore. Unlike some of the books by David Eddings, this is on kindle as well.

BlurbIt would be sheer folly to try to conceal the true nature of Althalus, for his flaws are the stuff of legend. He is, as all men know, a thief, a liar, an occasional murderer, an outrageous braggart, and a man devoid of even the slightest hint of honor.

Yet of all the men in the world, it is Althalus, unrepentant rogue and scoundrel, who will become the champion of humanity in its desperate struggle against the forces of an ancient god determined to return the universe to nothingness. On his way to steal The Book from the House at the End of the World, Althalus is confronted by a cat--a cat with eyes like emeralds, the voice of a woman, and the powers of a goddess.

She is Dweia, sister to The Gods and a greater thief even than Althalus. She must be: for in no time at all, she has stolen his heart. And more. She has stolen time itself. For when Althalus leaves the House at the End of the World, much wiser but not a day older than when he'd first entered it, thousands of years have gone by.

But Dweia is not the only one able to manipulate time. Her evil brother shares the power, and while Dweia has been teaching Althalus the secrets of The Book, the ancient God has been using the dark magic of his own Book to rewrite history. Yet all is not lost. But only if Althalus, still a thief at heart, can bring together a ragtag group of men, women, and children with no reason to trust him or each other.

The pack seer’s alarming prophecy at Jamie’s birth assured Jamie he would love again, but what he shared with Ian...That magic only happens once.

Kenneth—pack newcomer and presumptive alpha—disagrees. Instinct led him to Kentucky after Ian’s death tore Jamie’s world apart. Title: Bitter Blood
Series:
Author(s): Lyn Gala
Length: 218 pages
PublisherLyn Gala (May 19, 2018)

Genre: Paranormal / Romantic Elements / Vampires

Notes: This is not the typical vampire story. It was an excellent read with a strong female over the age of 40.

BlurbOfficer Paige Silver assumes that a serial rapist is the worst fate her small town of Oxbow could suffer, but then her rookie partner Brady appears on her doorstep with a taste for blood and a back covered in runes that have been carved into his flesh. Suddenly the mundane evil she thought she knew is nothing compared to the demonic forces that are gathering. Well, evil might have claimed Brady for their side, but Brady came to Paige.

Even without understanding his developing powers, he offers his loyalty to the woman he has admired and wanted for some time. The fact that they were partners at work kept them from ever acting on their mutual attraction, but now that Brady is no longer human, he is determined to earn a spot in Paige's bed and her life. And while ethics kept Paige from considering a relationship with Brady while he was alive, she's having more and more trouble keeping any sort of professional distance. Her only fear is that the evil that changed Brady may lay claim to his soul, and if she gives him her heart, he may drag her with him right into hell.

Title: The Wild Ways
Series:
Author(s): Tanya Huff
Length: 433 pages
Publisher: DAW; 1 edition (November 1, 2011)

Genre: Urban Fantasy / Bisexual MC / Mystery /

Notes: This is one of my favorite series. I was saving this audiobook because the next book isn't on audio yet, and I forgot why I was saving it. Imagine my disappointment when I finished this and went to buy the next audio... The book is out, but not on audio yet. I loved Alysha and liked Charlie in the first book, but I wasn't sure I liked Charlie enough to follow her as a main character. Charlie turned out to be so much more--more. I loved her and we got to spend more time with cousin Jack.

BlurbAlysha Gale's cousin Charlotte is a Wild Power, who allies herself with a family of Selkies in a fight against offshore oil drilling. The oil company has hired another of the Gale family's Wild Powers, the fearsome Auntie Catherine, to steal the Selkies' sealskins. To defeat her, Charlotte will have to learn what born to be Wild really means in the Gale family...

Thank you for stopping by and reading!!
