Title: Not Dead Yet
Series:
Author: Jenn Burke
Length:
Publisher: Carina Press (February 4, 2019)

Genre: Romance / Mystery / Sleuthing / Paranormal / Gay /

Notes:

Blurb: Dying isn’t what it used to be.

Wes Cooper was dead. Then he wasn’t—though he’s not exactly alive, either. As an immortal not-ghost, he can transition between this world and the otherplane, which makes him the perfect thief for hire. For seventy years he’s made a “living” returning items to their rightful owners, seeing his fair share of the bizarre in the process. But he’s never witnessed murder. Until now.

His latest mission brings him more than he bargained for: a very-dead actor who is definitely going to stay that way. It’s just Wes’s luck that his ex-boyfriend, Detective Hudson Rojas, is assigned to the case. Hudson broke Wes’s heart years ago—and could again, given he’s rocking a hot silver-fox look that shouldn’t be legal.

As they work together to track down the murderer before anyone else gets hurt, it becomes clear Wes and Hudson have unfinished business. And when a secret Hudson’s been keeping threatens more than just their happiness, it might mean the end of their not-life together—permanently.

This book is approximately 91,000 words

Eroan, one of the last elven assassins, lives for one purpose: kill the queen.

He would have succeeded if not for her last line of defense: Prince Lysander. Now, captured and forced into the queen’s harem, Eroan sees another opportunity. Why kill just the queen when he can kill them all? It would be simple, if not for the troubled and alluring dragon prince. A warrior, a killer, and something else… something Eroan finds himself inexplicably drawn to.

Trapped in a life he despises, Lysander knows his time is running out.

If the queen doesn’t kill him for his failures, her enemies will. There’s nothing left to live for, until an elf assassin almost kills him. A stubborn, prideful, fool of an elf who doesn’t know when to quit. An elf who sparks a violent, forbidden desire in Lysander. Title: More than Blood
Series: Blood Series, 1
Author: Brea Alepou
Length: 254 pages
Publisher:

Genre: Romance / Dark Paranormal / Fantasy / Vampires / Werewolves / Poly / Gay /

Notes: Sadly, this book was not for me. I love poly romance, and I don't mind dark romances, plus I have been looking for vampire romances for a while, but I could not finish this one. It is not the sadomasochism bend that the story has, it was the main character Karter. The blurb does point out that he's a screw-up but he presents no motivation for what he does. There was nothing to keep me interested in him or the the vampires he feeds.

Blurb: A prince, a miscreant, a warrior, a workaholic & one wild werewolf.

Karter's been nothing but trouble since the day he learned to walk. A werewolf with a knack for f@#$*ng s#%t up, he’s caused so much trouble that even his pack is tired of dealing with it. With his pack done bailing him out, Karter is left alone and with no one to care. If he doesn’t get his life in order, he’ll end up dead.

When he’s dragged in by the people who will happily put a silver bullet in his head, they give him an opportunity instead of death… to feed vampires — aka a walking blood bank. To feed the enemy is unheard of, but with nowhere else to turn he reluctantly goes.

Four vampires and one werewolf. What should be a disaster may turn into something so much more.

Why can’t he stop craving things that no werewolf should crave from bloodsuckers?

(Warning graphic language for 18+, gay Paranormal haram, graphic scenes, vampire take on blood play)

Title: Nevermore
Series: Crossbreed, 6
Author: Dannika Dark
Length: 338 pages
Publisher: Dannika Dark (January 13, 2019)

Genre: Romantic Elements / Urban Fantasy

Notes: More than anything this a reminder for me to catch up on the series. The audiobooks are available through my library but sometimes the wait list is months long. I need to go back and check. The next book for me is #4. On a side note, this is the only series that I like by this author. I've had a hard time getting into the other series and stopped trying. This one is good even if I don't understand how she's a half breed. LOL

Blurb: Raven returns to her childhood home to rebuild her severed relationship with her father. After a long year of capturing violent criminals and thwarting assassination plots, she could use a vacation.

But trouble is brewing on the home front. When Raven discovers her father is in financial peril, she's determined to set things right even if it means sacrificing her heart in the process. Meanwhile, her relationship with Christian is on shaky ground when a skeleton falls out of his closet. Will they be able to leave the past behind, or is the trust between them dead and buried?

When they get a visit from Alec, Cronin, Eiji, and Jodis, Kennard and Stas decide to return to London where they get news of a supernatural disturbance in India.

Title: Jacked Cat Jive

Notes:

Blurb: Stalker Kai Gracen knew his human upbringing would eventually clash with his elfin heritage, but not so soon. Between Ryder, a pain-in-his-neck sidhe lord coaxing him to join San Diego’s Southern Rise Court, and picking up bounties for SoCalGov, he has more than enough to deal with. With his loyalties divided between the humans who raised him and the sidhe lord he’s befriended and sworn to protect, Kai finds himself standing at a crossroads.

When a friend begs Kai to rescue a small group of elfin refugees fleeing the Dusk Court, he’s pulled into a dangerous mission with Ryder through San Diego’s understreets and the wilderness beyond. Things go from bad to downright treacherous when Kerrick, Ryder’s cousin, insists on joining them, staking a claim on Southern Rise and Kai.

Burdened by his painful past, Kai must stand with Ryder against Kerrick while facing down the very court he fears and loathes. Dying while on a run is expected for a Stalker, but Kai wonders if embracing his elfin blood also means losing his heart, soul, and humanity along the way.

Title: Power of Lies
Series: (The Dark Orchid Book 1)
Author: Auryn Hadley
Length: 204 pages
Publisher: Spotted Horse Productions (January 18, 2019)

Genre: Romance / Fantasy / Sword & Sorcery / Poly / Bisexual /

Notes: I love this cover.

Blurb: Everyone lies. When working for a sex mage, it's the only way to stay safe.

That's the first thing Jaeda learns when she's named as the Chosen. The mage needs a sacrifice, and she's willing to give it. Maybe too willing. After all, this man is lust incarnate; a woman would have to be insane not to want him, even if he is dangerous.

But desiring someone's body is very different from falling in love. In her line of work, the two must never be confused. She doesn't even know his name! He's simply The Jackal, a terrifyingly powerful sex mage, and she's his altar. Her lust fuels him. He needs it.

And that puts her in control.

Now, she gets to spend her days with a mage who wields sex like a weapon and his assistant who's as irresistible as some long-lost god brought to life. The things they do to her body are amazing, and the rest? These men want to spoil her with the kind of riches she's always dreamed of. It's the best job she can imagine.

Unfortunately, it's never that easy. This is supposed to be about making magic - that's it. Feelings have no place in a mage's temple. Affection is a curse. But when the enemy decides she'll make the perfect weapon to steal the Jackal's power, what's she supposed to do? After all, she's just a stupid girl caught in the middle. Her job is to just lie back and take it.

Except, someone's been lying.

It might even be her.

POWER OF LIES is a complete novel with a reverse harem, polyamorous storyline. It is intended for a mature audience due to the presence of consensual sex, group sex, M/M scenes, and plenty of vulgar language - as well as some potentially triggering violence since the bad guys don't always play nice. While this is a love story, it may not be right for all readers.

Title: Waiting on the Rain
Series:
Author: Freddy MacKay
Length:
Publisher: Mischief Corner Books, LLC; 1 edition (February 5, 2019)
Genre: Romance / Paranormal / Poly / Bisexual / Transgender /

Notes: I feel like I have been waiting for this one forever! I'm in the middle of it and I love how Freddy introduces me to different cultures and makes me fall in love with her characters. <3 <3

Blurb: One young man desperate to make things right for the monks who raised him. Another looking to escape the limelight. The two best friends stuck in time because of promises.

A couple looking to make a bigger unconventional family—one young woman who wants to help the world become a more beautiful place, one transwoman looking to put down roots for the both of them.

Love isn’t always easy, but the good kind is worth fighting for, even when others don’t understand it. The story of what becomes of their love is what will be passed down into legend. Because stories like this, people remember.

When Jira, Boon, Areeya and Fon come together to celebrate Yee Peng and Loi Krathong, sparks fly and dreams coalesce. But that’s only the beginning…

Title: Fire Touched
Series: Mercy Thompson, 9
Author: Patricia Briggs
Length: 350 pages
Publisher: Ace (March 8, 2016)

Notes: I've been cleaning up some older series on my TBR. This one I sort of binged on. Last week I read books 5 thru 8. I finished this and went on to the next one so that I'll be soon caught up. It's a good series.

Blurb: Tensions between the fae and humans are coming to a head. And when coyote shapeshifter Mercy and her Alpha werewolf mate, Adam, are called upon to stop a rampaging troll, they find themselves with something that could be used to make the fae back down and forestall out-and-out war: a human child stolen long ago by the fae.
